Sounds cool, although I hope there's at least one song with Phil's cleans. I've appreciated the extra dimension they add to Whitechapel's sound
| |
not quite as good as the last single. it still rips tho
| |
Song slaps
| |
Have the gone back to unga bunga deathcore or are they still doing or carrying on with their modern/mature style.
| |
thank fuck they aren't doing that kin stuff anymore
welcome back to the roots
| |
Kin ruled wtf
| |
kin was good and the valley is better imo, but this is easily the best material they've ever written.
| |
my only complaint is it sounds too clean. get that this is exile production on this
| |
valley was def better than kin yeah
| |
Sounds sick. Also thanks for including the tour dates, I’ll probably try to see them now.
| |
Kin and The Valley are tops. This sounds like many other bands.
| |
This is cool, but I agree it does sound like so many other bands and it makes me worry about the album as a whole. I think it would be cool to keep some of the Kin/Valley sound in there.
| |
This is the good shit, really glad they're back to being good
| |
This slaps, definitely gonna have to see them in March. 200SW is an added bonus.
| |
Band rules, new song slaps
| |
I like both sounds. I feel like Valley was a better combination of new and old sounds whereas Kin was more full new “softer” territory.
I dig their heavy sound more, so adding an occasional valley/kin track would be great just to break up the monotony that can be a full deathcore album
| |
Kin was the best blend of their styles tbh. This might be a bit far back in the old direction, but I'm still intrigued
| |
"Sounds cool, although I hope there's at least one song with Phil's cleans. I've appreciated the extra dimension they add to Whitechapel's sound"
Phil has already said there is zero singing on this record.
I really never cared for them before the valley and Kin, and have grown to appreciate the earlier dumb shit they used to play, but these two new songs floored me.
| |
I just hymned my pants
| |
Interesting that they seem to be moving away from the (slightly) more accessible sound they went for in the previous couple albums.
But honestly neither of the new singles have clicked for me so far. I'm comparing this to the last few Fit for An Autopsy albums and the riffs just feel a bit bland in comparison.
| |
I thought Kin and Valley were their best records therefore it's kinda underwhelming they went back to their roots. However, one cannot deny these songs bang cheeks. phil is still the goat and I appreciate the fact they don't go full breakdown after breakdown mode
| |
Just saw the lyrics on this lol. He went full disgusting
| |
how many times does he say he hates women
| |
I just looked up the lyrics, they are dumb and cringey. Metal as a genre deserves better than this crap and needs to move past "br00tal" lyrics
| |
not very metal or phil of you, metalphil
| |
what if he's actually alex and not phil irl
| |
Last two albums have been dope but if they’re going back to mega heavy shit and doing it twice as good with top notch prod, I am 1000% here for it. The last two singles have been absolute face melters.
| |
people who listen to metal care about lyrics???
| |
Kin is the GOAT album, but this song fucking rips. I'll miss that Whitechapel but it's really hard to complain with this. Heaviest shit since Somatic Defilement.
| |
"I just looked up the lyrics, they are dumb and cringey. Metal as a genre deserves better than this crap and needs to move past "br00tal" lyrics"
This is the continuation of the story that's been told since The Valley, hell after doing some analysis I think Bozeman's been influenced by this story since as early as This Is Exile. All this "br00tal" imagery is his way of writing about his own familial abuse he went through. It's got a lot more to it than just brutal for the sake of brutal.
| |
“As you lay impaled on this inverted cross
I masticate the throats of your lambs
As I masturbate to the sound of them choking
A seed of change, from which spawned of my hand
Shall inseminate inside the womb of a whore”
Yeah that’s gonna be a no from me dog lollll
@Futures I never notice lyrics. Someone told me these were wild so I looked em up.
| |
Cringe ass lyrics

| |
Prefer their valley and kin style. In fact those are the only two albums I’ve bothered with from WC (and enjoyed a lot). Probably won’t listen through the new one. I know, cool story bro.
| |
Song fucking slaps my horse cock around hard!
EDIT: I read the lyrics and thought to myself "FANTASTIC!" plus the fact that they upset pussified girlie men makes me appreciate them even more
| |
Cool story bro. Some of us just aren’t perpetual angsty teenagers.
| |
This absolutely floors it oh my goodness. Hyped af for the album m/
Also anyone who thinks those lyrics are bad should look into Somatic Defilement's lyrical content lol
| |
yeah idk why any of you care about the lyrics lol the mosh parts kill
| |
"Some of us just aren’t perpetual angsty teenagers."
I agree! Most of y'all are pencilnecks who couldn't do a pullup if their life was depending on it. Meanwhile I'm heaving, hoisting, hefting and horsing tremendous weights in the gym blasting Whitechapel on my headphones.
| |
yall are so funny
| |
This that 5FDPcore band?
| |
no that's slipknot
| |
I can do 20 pull ups WHILE SCOFFING AT THIS LAUGHABLE LYRICAL MANURE? Can you?
| |
gore lyrics are awesome. the problem is deathcore bands listened to Chris barnes and thought he was being serious.
| |
Gore lyrics? More like Bore lyrics. Tritefapple couldn't write compelling lyrics if the future of Urban Outfitters depended on it.
| |
Lyrics are fine, some of it is typical WC evil edge stuff, but I do think there's probably a more clear throughline in some of the messaging. Maybe it is a continuation of the previous two, prolly too early to say. Song still rules.
| |
Those are icky lyrics
| |
"pussified girlie men"
Oh boy, guess ill take my effemenite masc non-binary self and go fuck myself.
| |
" Meanwhile I'm heaving, hoisting, hefting and horsing tremendous weights in the gym"
having to tell people this is cringe lol no one cares, no one asked, and no one is impressed (:
---as someone who does that very thing sans ego---
| |
I really liked Valley and Kin for their depth, both lyrically and sound-wise.
Not sure how I feel about them actively trying to write the heaviest album they can. This single, while musically impressive, just feels like they are trying to outduel Lorna Shore.
| |
Yeah I felt like they were evolving and showing class while doing it. Not sure what there is to accomplish with going back to their music they made as teenagers, but whatever, it ain’t my band.
| |
Third Depth is the only thing they made in the past 10+ years that I liked
| |
I could ignore the cringe lyrics if they at least brought the riffs but honestly both singles are so boring.
Maybe they'll grow on me but it feels like they just made the songs heavy for the sake of being heavy. Pretty much any song off A New Era of Corruption riffs way harder than either of these new songs.
| |
Whoaaaaa unbelievably disagree. Both singles are ass crushers. Also who the fuck listens to lyrics? Quit trying to derive meaning for your life and just bob your head.
| |
gottem
| |
How many bands are out there just to crush ass though? In 2025 simply crushing ass doesn’t really move the needle much. Speaking for myself, not discouraging anyone from disagreeing. Gotta defend my position though. I’m probably just getting old.
| |
butt is right. But on the topic, it's so silly to take an album that has a clear horror/evil story to the lyrics and be upset by it. If those are someone's taste in movies or art then the story that's being told should at least pique interest.
| |
Never mind that there's nearly 40 years of death metal history with toilet-tier lyrics and zero actual depth prior to this, so I'd guess it's more a response to the positive reactions it's getting elsewhere than anything. Lets not pretend they're the first to write heavy for the sake of heavy, and rather celebrate the fact that when they said they were coming back more brutal than ever before they actually delivered.
| |
Yeah that is for sure true, good insight.
| |
I do agree we've had 40 years of "toilet-tier" lyrics which is why I think metal as a genre should move past these garbagio lyrics
| |
Yeah it’s certainly not new and I also agree we should move past it. Also 40 years of it doesn’t make it good lol
| |
Also arent these guys pushing their late 30s or something? Like at some point you need to grow up and need to just wrap up writing cringey edge lyrics
| |
damn three stupid comments in a row
y’all haven’t lived for the horror genre have you
| |
pearl clutching over lame edgy shock value lyrics in the big 2k25 lol
| |
yeah people asking for meaningful lyrics in death metal and deathcore of all metal subgenres
laughably brainlet takes
| |
Ill happily take the brainlet shot. I am an idiot sometimes and dont care for the band or genre much so meeeh
| |
Just a bunch of cornballs virtue signaling their own tastes/takes on common sense.
This sounds amazing and awful at the same time, and if you're an adult w/ a functioning frontal lobe then you won't need this explained to you.
| |
song rules, lyrics are fun
| |
new record is heavy as fuck. thankfully they managed to improve their songwriting chops massively over the last years
| |
Has it leaked or something? I'm way too hyped for this release.
| |
got a promo version since I'm reviewing it for a german music blog
| |
That's sick, I'm definitely not jealous..
| |
beyond stoked now
| |
Was sad to see them abandon the new sound, but this song blew me away. Really tightly written, impressively heavy shit
| |
Haven't heard anything in full since Corruption but I'm excited they went back to their roots and it isn't a sad attempt at reliving their glory days. Stoked for the new one and new songs are great
| |
most bands that say they are going back to their roots always make their worst album ever lol. glad that isn't the case here. rare to capture that same energy after all those years.
| |
my record just came in the mail today, holy shit
| |
Damn, shoulda pre-ordered. Keep checking for a leak every few hours. Wanna hear this thing so bad
| |
It's mid
| |
It's mid alright, mid way to bringing me to climax.
| |
Now play The Valley and go all the way
| |
Haha, I like them both a lot for different reasons.
| |
