Chthonic return with new single 2023-02-28 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 6 Comments | Taiwan's extreme metal monoliths Chthonic have released their first brand new track since 2018's Battlefields of Asura.
With frontman Freddy Lim busy with his job as an elected politician in Taiwan's Legislative Yuan since 2016, Chthonic's activities have largely been restricted to festival appearances in their home country, along with occasional standalone singles like 2020's remix of "Supreme Pain for the Tyrant" with Trivium/Ibaraki frontman Matt Heafy. However, the release of new single "PATTONKAN" (available digitally March 2nd) indicates that more new material may be on the horizon. In the video's description, Chthonic say:
"“PATTONKAN” is Taiwan’s sacred mountain, and also the highest peak of northeast Asia. The story is extended from Defenders of Bu-Tik Palace、Millennia's Faith Undone. Chthonic’s music universe, the courageous and tragic battle continues!
