That sucks, Sergio is a great bassist and I love his playing on the last few Deftones albums. At least he'll be more active in Quicksand now, every cloud and all that.

Real shame. Sounds like they put him on sort of a salary base pay, with no cut for merch, etc. On top of that, Chino's reaction to it on Mixr (He is out of pocket. f him) is a BAD look.

As big a fanboy as I am of Deftones, they each strike me as titanic assholes. I hope Vega continues an excellent career with less uncertainty now.

I don't care about Vega leaving the band much, I've never cared for his contributions or live performances all that much, but the way this transpired doesn't speak well for the band. Hopefully a statement from them is coming.

My two goat bands were Deftones and Every Time I Die. Deftones took a first hit with Gore and Steph being a nutjob (plus Chino defending that shit). Now ETID is done and Deftones are further proven to be total assholes. Fuck.

Yeah Chino def isn’t defending Stephen and clearly is honest that he thinks Stephen is crazy but does defend their friendship.

Anyways I haven’t commented on Sergio yet, but I think it is really fucking stupid to let your bassist go after creating an album like Ohms and if the guys were really good friends years before he “filled in” I don’t understand how this can happen. The only thing that makes sense is they don’t want a permanent replacement for Chi ever, but Sergio was the perfect person to do it. Chino literally turned the recording equipment on in secret to sneak record Sergio jamming and that fucking turned into Spell of Mathematics. This makes zero sense to me and is sad.
