Chthonic collab w/ Matt Heafy 2020-04-17 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 8 Comments | Taiwanese extreme metallers Chthonic have released a new version of 2013 track "Supreme Pain for the Tyrant", with new contributions by Matt Heafy of Trivium fame.
In the description for the video (re-recorded using English lyrics as opposed to the original Taiwanese version), the band states that the new version commemorates the 50th anniversary of a failed assassination attempt on Kuomintang dictator Chiang Ching-kuo by Peter Huang and Cheng Tzu-tsai, when Taiwan remained under military rule. The track features new guitars and clean vocals from Heafy.
This is not the first venture into extreme metal that the Trivium frontman has made either. In 2005, he recorded several black and death metal tracks for the Roadrunner United sessions, and has been working for several years with Ihsahn on a project known as Mrityu, which has yet to see any material released.

Capharnaum's "Fractured" album is one of the best tech-death records of the 2000's and Heafy did vocals on it. Dude's done some legit work, Trivium's just his cash-cow.
