I'm not their biggest fan, but they're pretty unique.

some pretty great parts throughout the trailer. hope this lives up to roads to the north.
also panopticon is just one dude, right?
|

Yeah. Just one dude. I know I wrote everything in the plural sense. It's just habit...

This pretty much.
Although I'd reckon that his songwriting generally improved upon his stay in Norway.

I really enjoyed his last album. The closer track was great.

Will rule.

Sounds great, definitely something to look forward to.

a new album already?
that's quick.

Well, he is just one person so life of multiple people with different schedules doesn't get in the way.

I think he had this written then demo'd it last summer, after he finished with Roads to the North? So somehow it'd been finished for a while before he recorded it.
Also I'm starting to feel like he only has a few different songwriting techniques but then just reinterprets them by putting different junk overtop. He's got those mid-paced, sort-of stompy uplifting melodic portions that he uses all the time, he's got his basic blasts, and like spacey post-rock and he uses all of those things over and over on every record, more or less. It's sort of getting annoying now tbh.
1:45 i'm sure I've heard this same idea before
there being keyboards at 4:00 is cool tho nice addition
4:56, 5:40 this sort of uplifting "fight the power go yeah!" rhythm is one he uses all over the place
8:26 spacey post-rock he does all the time
Like I want him to do something different with his core songwriting, not just using the same techniques and putting different aesthetics overtop, like this album is more folky and this one is more shoegazy and this one has more violins

This album turned out so beautifully
