Overlooked/Underrated Black Metal

albums with 15 votes or less.

very raw, primitive black metal. if you want to feel kvlt, jam this.
2Void Meditation Cult
Utter the Tongue Of The Dead

anybody like Beherit? so fuckin evil i can feel satan's black semen spilling out of all of my orifices as i listen.
Under the Sign of the Wilderness

like if Amon Amarth was black metal (i think i stole that from somewhere). triumphant and even uplifting, i would say.
4Nuclear Desecration
Desecrated Temple of Impurity

bestial/war stuff. that snare pops hard as fuck. OOUUUGHH.
5Profundis Tenebrarum
Disciples of Venomous Death

Profundis Tenebrarum went from some pretty average black metal to some seriously engaging material. that 6 year gap in between albums must have given them a chance to hone their skills and craft something exceptional. the tempos and riffs are necksnapping.
6Nocturnal Graves
Satan's Cross

blackened thrash. if you like fun and swinging your goatcock to and fro, this is for you.
Glare of the Morning Star

Dagorath take the path of restraint. instead of creating riff salads to blast your face off at the speed of 666 for the whole album, ideas are fully fleshed out and a variety of tempos are explored, transitioning into each other seamlessly.
Unholy Exaltation of Fullmoon Perversity

bestial/war all about cunts and goats. sounds like it was recorded with a carrot.
9Deus Mortem
Emanations of the Black Light

the fuckin leads on this thing, ugh.
10Forest Mysticism

gives me a similar feelings as Hordak, but with more nostalgia, more bittersweetness. not really musically comparable though. straightforward, simple yet effective melodic black metal.

experimental black metal that mostly eschews the Deathspell Omega tropes that permeate a lot of "experimental" black metal. and yet it's musical and familiar enough to be easily appreciated at the same time.
12Devil Master
Inhabit the Corpse

want to hear what it would be like if Lemmy was in a black metal band?

hardcore-influenced black metal. it's not out yet, but based on the single, i'm stoked for it. they have the riffs, the production is amazing, and they actually make use of the bass.
Procession of Doom

black metal that is clearly influenced by the bestial/war side of black metal, but not totally immersed, despite what their band name, logo, album artwork, and uhh, fashion style tell you.
15Erebus Enthroned
Temple Under Hell

a step up from their debut. while Night's Black Angel had riffs to offer, it was lacking the refined songwriting that Temple Under Hell has. you can tell a lot more time and thought went into the composition of these songs, and sounds more like a group effort with the members playing off of each other very well. disappointingly, this would be their last album. (and don't let those melodic black metal bands in the "similar artists" section fool you, this shit is evil through and through)
Death Ordinance

an iron wall of power chords, ravenous battle growls, and blast beats. if you like Blasphemy, you might like this.
17Whiskey Ritual
Blow With the Devil

Without Veil, Nor Self

a nightmarish trip.
19Cape of Bats
Violent Occultism

black metal + hardcore punk. sp00ky metal.
20Grand Demise of Civilization
Below the Feet of Kings

furious, diabolical black metal played on 8 string guitars.
Kaos Kommand 696

with that album title and artwork featuring anthropomorphic goat creatures rising from hell (the biggest one firing a gigantic machine gun), the fuck do you think this is gonna sound like? its so fucking stupid but awesome. this features a blast happy drummer and blistering riffs blurring the lines between black metal, death metal, and thrash. if youre searching for a nice goatcock to be fucked by, this will surely do.
