| My Top 10 Albums Of All Time
These are the 10 albums that literally changed my life and my
perspective on what music is. Hopefully you may agree as well. If
not, then that's coolbeans too. | 10 | | Cynic Traced In Air
First album in and I'm already going to get slack for picking this over
"Focus".
The vocals are what sells me on this album. The "robotic" nature that can
be heard is something that I find so cool to hear. And with the album only
just being over 30 mins long, that's a testament to how good this band are
at making music if I'm still listening to the same 30 mins of material in 2013.
As for "Focus", it's still a damn good album, but the tracks here just sound
more refined and I find this record to be consistent than their previous one.
Takes you into another dimension, literally. Progressive deathness at its
best. | 9 | | Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet
I'm not a big fan of PT's earlier stuff, nor Steven Wilson's solo stuff.
However, I am one of those many people that joined the bandwagon after
In Absentia came out.
This record has my favourite opener ever. Wilson's lyrics resonated with me
back then to a point where I thought he was literally singing about my life.
The whole idea of adolescent life consisting of; playing video games, never
going out, social anxiety, being trapped under one's skin, not knowing what
the future holds, are all statements that relate to me as an individual so
much and the drumming here is some of the best in musical history.
Anesthetize owns your fucking soul. | 8 | | Karnivool Sound Awake
The newest album I have on this list. This was a grower, I can remember
thinking this album was boring as fuck compared to Themeta. But then
letting the album grow on me I slowly became in love with it.
The production on this album is some of the best work I've heard, and the
album itself is a testament to where humanity is at this moment in time. The
grooves here are incredible and the album's tracks are laid out in a way
that makes the whole thing flow perfectly. | 7 | | Thrice Vheissu
I rarely listen to much rock music nowadays but when I do, I listen to
Thrice. Damn, this album has amazing pacing to it. The songs are chanty,
catchy as hell and filled up with pure emotion. Possibly my favourite rock
album.
Red Sky is also one of my favourite songs of all time. So there ya go. | 6 | | Deftones Saturday Night Wrist
Ahhh, the Deftones album that everybody but me hates with a passion.
Okay, after the average self-titled album, my interest in Deftones slowly
went away. But when I heard from a friend that SNW had dropped a while
back I was amazed at how I had given up on this band.
This record has all of my favourite Deftones songs on it, bar a few;
Hole in the Earth, Beware, Xerces, Combat, Kimdracula. Mind blowing
album. | 5 | | Fair to Midland Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True
Nostalgia hits hard here. Hearing "The Wife, the Kids and the White Picket
Fence" takes me back to being in school again.
This album is just an absolute mindfuck. It has one the best closers I've
ever heard as well. One of those few records where every track is
outstanding. | 4 | | Frost* Milliontown
Falls just behind Dream Theater in its ranking. Only because I've heard
Metropolis much more than this. Though the song "Milliontown" is arguably
one of the greatest progressive tracks ever made. | 3 | | Dream Theater Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes from a Memory
Although 6DoIT is almost as good. Having two DT albums on this list seems
like cheating.
The greatest progressive album ever made. The concept, the
instrumentation. Executed flawlessly | 2 | | Tool Lateralus
The first progressive rock album I ever heard. So much nostalgia is attached
to this and this album and this band has inspired me to become a better
musician since I began. | 1 | | Boards of Canada Geogaddi
Electronic music perfected. Listened to this for the first time at midnight and
it changed my whole view on what music is.
Gives me the same chills every time I listen to it since I first heard it.
Literally no flaw can be found in this album in my opinion.

02.26.13 | 10 is one of my favourites as well | Drummerboy123
02.26.13 | Sos for the lack of "retro" music here, I'm just more kindled to modern stuff.
And focus is gooooood man. I just prefer Traced In Air. If I did a top 25 focus would be in there. | Emyay
02.26.13 | Yeah I prefer Traced as well. One time I got the intro to Adam's Murmur stuck in my head so bad it was ridiculous. Running around going "Feet, to hip..." | Yotimi
02.26.13 | Strange to see 1 amongst these other albums | Riviere
02.26.13 | 6 is my number 1 of all time, so you're not alone. | oltnabrick
02.26.13 | i dig 4 of these
cool | Drummerboy123
02.26.13 | Most of the electronic stuff I listen to would probably be from 11-20 if I did a top 25. It just happens most of my prog stuff is in my top 10. But BoC are just geniuses and Geogaddi is a masterpiece IMO. Again most of BoC's other stuff would go into the 11-20 part. | evilford
02.26.13 | picking 10 over focus lol | oltnabrick
02.26.13 | "The "robotic" nature that can be heard is something that I find so cool to hear."

02.27.13 | There's definitely some good stuff here but why no black metal? | Drummerboy123
02.28.13 | Emperor is probably the only black metal I like. It's not my jam. | osmark86
02.28.13 | Vheissu is defo a great album and one of my all time favs too | Drummerboy123
03.01.13 | Probably should of put 1 or 2 electronic albums in here to make no.1 seem not so out of place haha. | demigod!
03.01.13 | used to love the hell out of ten... it kind of wore thin after a while. still good though. | demigod!
