01.09.13 Prog 'n Whatever

Prog 'n Whatever

Yeah ok, progressive, djent, whatever. it's still music.
10Meshuggah
Destroy Erase Improve

I'd put it much higher since it's Meshuggah and it kicks ass, but it's so hard to dig this album lately.
9Animals As Leaders
Weightless

See the above, but more focused on instrumentals and less of the "spacey metal" sound heard from that band An Endless Sporadic.
8Gru
Cosmogenesis

An instrumental genius. Technically I'm tying this with number 9 so there are really 9 albums listed here. yeah i know, blasphemy right
7Corelia
Nostalgia

Like Periphery, but more polished and less of the djent sound; more focus on the rest of the instruments.
6TesseracT
One

At first, it's boring, but delve deeper; the songs are well thought out and the ideas at work here are spread greatly across the album.
5Opeth
Blackwater Park

I really don't need to explain anything about Opeth, since it's most likely you know of them already.
4Monuments
Gnosis

Like a clean, sort of less polyrhythmic type of prog. Still got that 'djenty charm to it though, so small faults.
3Periphery
Periphery

Guitar tones are pretty stale compared to their new album, but hell, it's a great album and there's a lot in it so you can keep on chewing for a while.
2Dream Theater
Images And Words

What else can I say.
1Meshuggah
obZen

I mean seriously who can forget the shuggah. Bleed kicks ass, Dancers is epic and Combustion is pretty damn great.
