Dist is ligs (2015 edition)

Oh hi there. Just figured I would do a list with some of my recent and also not-so-recent digs. Most of the albums will probably be from 2015, and yeah blahblah my taste sucks and your taste is awesome because Sufjan, Viet Cong and Father John Misty are the only good albums you've heard this year.
1Agent Fresco
Destrier

(Progressive Rock/Alternative Rock)

Arnor Dan has a really sweet voice, combined with the semi-proggy yet heavy instrumentals makes for a really pleasant album.
2CHVRCHES
Every Open Eye

(Pop/Electronic)

This just leaked so I haven't been able to give it my full attention, but I really liked their debut, and I feel like it sounds pretty good from what i've heard so far.
3Lydia
Run Wild

(Indie-Rock)

Lydia always delivers, Leighton has a really unique voice that just sounds heavenly.
4Bobby Raps and Corbin
Couch Potato

(Hip-Hop/PBR&B, lol)

This is one of my favorite releases from this year so far. It's just some sort of hip-hop/alternative R&B EP, but it does what it does really well. Some cool beats, some decent lyrics, and Corbin (AKA Spooky Black) delivers some raw singing here and there throughout the album.
5Helios
Yume

Ambient/Post-Rock/Electronic

I was surprised by this album, because I always thought he delivered some pretty cool jams, but this is just sublime. Pearls is a standout track that I can definitely recommend.
6Kaddisfly
Horses Galloping on Sailboats

(Rock/Pop/Progressive/Experimental/Hardtodefinecore)
I was SO stoked for this album to come out, and now I have to admit that I haven't really listened to it much despite actually REALLY liking what i've heard from it. Gotta listen to it more.
7 Oscar Key Sung
Altruism

(Electronic/Pop/R&B)
New EP from this duo, delivers some smooth jams. I bought their previous EP a year or so back, and dug it really hard, and then I heard a song from the new EP, in an H&M-, so I had to check it out.
Recommended track: Brush
8The Weeknd
Beauty Behind the Madness

(R&B/Pop)
Yeah, i'm sorry. I love The Weeknd, even though I feel like this is his weakest effort yet. At first I just viewed it as a sellout album, but nah. I liked the fact that his older stuff was a lot darker in comparison though.
9Turnover
Peripheral Vision

(Indie/Emo/Dream Pop)
I dig the fact that Turnover has matured a lot musically, going from a run-of-the-mill pop-punk to this. Magnolia was sweet as well but it actually felt like a band in their transition state, so this feels like it's exactly how they're supposed to sound.
10Slaves
Routine Breathing

(Post-Hardcore/Rock)
Yeah, I might get shit for liking this, but I think it's a very solid album, and a huge step-up from the snooze fest their previous album was. Jonny Craig has found some inspiration again and sounds better than he has in years, and since he used to be one of my favorite vocalists, that's always good to hear.
11The Black Dahlia Murder
Abysmal

(Melodic Death Metal/"Deathcore")
This felt like a huge step up from Everblack in my opinion, they've sort of gone back to the Miasma/Nocturnal kind of sound, which is definitely a good thing imo.
12The Japanese House
Pools To Bathe In

(Pop/Electronic/Imogenheapcore)
One of my favorite EP's this year is from this talented british girl, delivering some really cool jams, some of them being produced by Matty and George from The 1975. Her new EP will be released in november, so i'm definitely looking forward to that.
