Amphoteric
11.09.13 | Hopefully I didn't overhype anything, hate it when I listen to something with such high expectations then I end up disappointed, lol. What about Tetsu Inoue or Oophoi, have you listened to any of their stuff? Real good ambient stuff there. |

Eloriaz
11.09.13 | @Amphoteric:
Nope! In fact I don't know them at all but I will keep those names in mind. Admittedly I have a lot to catch up with Ambient music. So far the genres I "know" the most are synthpop, drum & bass and house. |

11.09.13 | @bloc: Oh yes ;) |
Amphoteric
11.09.13 | Nice, when you do decide to venture into ambient, you should probably start with Biosphere's album Substrata. Classic ambient album that is regarded by many (including myself) to possibly be the best ambient record of all time. Now if that's not overhype, then I don't know what is, but it definitely deserves it. |
Eloriaz
11.09.13 | @Amphoteric:
Oh, cool. I've not listened to Biosphere either. Thanks for the heads-up! If you are willing you could drop some ambient recs in my shoutbox. I would deeply appreciate it :]

@Stranger: By all means! In fact I invite you to drop some recs in my shoutbox whenever you want. I like how you put it: "off the wall", so be my guest, I'm always looking for new things ;)
@Will: Got the thing sitting in my iTunes but haven't listened yet.
Alive 2007 inspired me really much. I like how Daft Punk succeeded to make both an authentic and truly creative mix of their stellar hits. For instance: the blending of "One More Time" & "Aerodynamic" or "Around the World" & HBFS.
I think electronic music can go very well with the live album format. When it's done well I love it. |

11.10.13 | "I think electronic music can go very well with the live album format. When it's done well I love it."
In fact, if anyone is wondering why my #1 is a live show, that's the reason! 101 floors me every time & big time. And not just because I'm a Depeche Mode fanboy. Every single song is bigger-than-life, epic, moving, crystal-clear; every single song is an event in itself. I can't describe what I feel each time I listen to it: I feel everything at once. Even if Depeche Mode is not your cup of tea, I invite you for a listen; I'm sure it could surprise you at how legendary it is. It captures the band at their absolute peak (in my opinion).
Same goes for Alive 2007, etc. Now that I think about it, I should have put The Chems' "Don't Think" in here: it's probably my second favorite live after 101. Can't get enough of hearing "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" & "Star Guitar" in that format. |

11.10.13 | Eloriaz have you heard Wide Angle by Hybrid? |

11.13.13 | sweeet list dude... 2013 has had some very interesting electronic cds also....totally agree with you on the new tim hecker album... i recommend you try this also...
* Daft punk - random access memories (fun, feeling, and veeeeeeeery well produced)
* James Holden - The Inheritors (kinda weird but very interesting listen)
*** Jon Hopkins - Immunity (Dude!! I put 3 stars because dang it, soooo far best 2013 electronic album for me, its soooo beautifull, a lot of different textures and beats, highly reccomended)
*John Wizards - John Wizards (this dude is from south africa i think, but man what a good electronic album. If you like african vibes and sounds with diverse electronic beats I think you'll enjoy it)
*Oneohtrix Point Never - R Plus Seven (im just starting to listen and dig this album. Very experimental, but what Im enjoying so far are the ambient moments which it has a lot so if interested give it a try)
|
Eloriaz
11.13.13 | I listened to Daft Punk (obviously) and Jon Hopkins so far. Yep, "Immunity" is top 10 material this year. I also got James Holden but I don't have the others yet. Thanks :) |

01.15.14 | BUMP Mate, by the looks of this list you've had a better introduction to electronic music in a dozen
months than I have in a dozen years lol
"Risotto" "Mezzanine" "Music has the right to children" and "Maxinquaye" would make this list
perfection |

01.16.14 | Back when I was a teenager I had no idea electronic music would be such a big deal for me today. All I knew about it was some of Daft Punk's greatest hits, and some tracks here and there. I had especially no idea how interesting, wonderful & intense that world is and can be.
Thanks for the rec, never heard of it! |

Don't forget to add any of Tricky's work! You must hear Trickyyy, Elooo |
Eloriaz
03.14.14 | Will probably do, my friend! I'll try to make it with 100 albums this time, with a lot of personal descriptions as well (like here, but longer and hopefully better). I'm also reaching for some variety, as in every genre represented. There'll be obvious albums and not-so-obvious ones. I'm kind of halfway through it. University makes the wait longer. I might post it in May if time allows me that :) |
SanguineCream

03.14.14 | do it! also SMD are pretty damn underrated, agreed with that. |
Eloriaz
03.14.14 | I drink to that! I love all of their work, 'Unpatterns' being obviously my favorite. They have a very underground and accessible sound altogether, filled with 'colours'. They can make electronic pop like no other, but also mysterious and pensive tracks. Some of their stuff is extremely danceable. |
osmark86
03.14.14 | yeah, they're all over the place stylistically. I love both their more minimalistic, trance-like tunes and their more sugary pop electronic tunes. had the pleasure of seeing them live back in 2006 at a festival. good times, good times. |
Eloriaz
03.14.14 | Nice :)
I saw them as well, back in December 2012. Show was superb, crowd was great all around. I was particularly blown away by their live interpretation of some of the tracks on 'Delicacies'. |
