| My Top 10 Big Beat Anthems
Some electronica goodness, yummy! And Big Beat, furthermore: explosive
dance tracks that make your head spin. Many of them have an "anthemic
quality" which I really, really love. The irony is, I sometimes have
difficulties making the distinction between "Big Beat" and proper
"breakbeat". In a nutshell, I kind of see it as this: Big Beat has larger
breaks and a "fatter" groove if I may say so. Its sound is more "in-your-
face" too, I think. But the frontier is still thin. Of course, I have still much
to learn from electronica and this is only from what I know of the Big
Beat genre. If you have recs for me, by all means tell me!!! And, oh yes -
the Chemical Brothers are gonna rule this list ;) | 10 | The Chemical Brothers Three Little Birdies Down Beats
How dare I?! Am I ignoring "Leave Home", "Song to the Siren" and even "Chemical
Beats"? Of course not. Those are superb tracks. But "Three Little Birdies" has such
an infectious and pounding acid sound. # 10. | 9 | Groove Armada I See You Baby
Is it more house than Big Beat? I don't know. Maybe. Who knows? Whatever the
case, it has a fantastic bassline that will make your dog or your cat dance. #9. | 8 | Fluke Atom Bomb
Awww yeah. "Baby's got an atom-bomb". Industrial. Earthshake. This track is
racing, racing, sky is no limit. This will make the dancefloor crumble! #8. | 7 | The Crystal Method Name of the Game
Perfect mix of rock and electronica. The Crystal Methodists rule the game, indeed,
with this huge hybrid stormer. #7. | 6 | The Prodigy Their Law
The Prodigy is more breakbeat-oriented, even though the distinction is hard to
make with them. "Their Law" has such vast and towering percussions, though. It
has the footsteps of a giant. #6. | 5 | The Chemical Brothers Elektrobank
The masters again, obviously. Long long track with a thousand of elements in it. So
complex and good. Brilliant vocal hook which, as a French-speaking person, I
cannot repeat as fast: "Who is this doin' this synthetic type of alpha beta
psychedelic funkin'?" #5. | 4 | Propellerheads Spybreak!
The Matrix. Attitude. Sunglasses. Video games. Slowmotions. Need I say more? #4. | 3 | Fatboy Slim Right Here, Right Now
Such a unique track in Fatboy Slim's discography. Spellbinding and adventurous.
There is none like it. Every movie soundtrack wants a hit like this. "My favorite
artist right now is Fatboy SLIM, that guy kicks ASS!" #3. | 2 | The Rockafeller Skank
"Right about now, the funk soul brother / Check it out now, the funk soul brother!"
The pitch-perfect road-trip song. #2. | 1 | The Chemical Brothers Block Rockin' Beats
The One and Only, behold! This track will crush the armies of Mordor. I still dream
to hear this monster live, because I haven't. What a vocal hook. What a drop.
What a bassline. What a life-pumping titan it is. #1. | |

03.15.13 | Pretty good list. I used to listen to this stuff when I was younger. | SanguineCream
06.05.13 | Nice. Atom Bomb's got the best lyrics too. Once you learn his rap off by heart the song's even more
enjoyable.
Other exceptions you might add are Expansion Union's Playing With Lightening and Juno Reactor's Conga
Fury

06.05.13 | Yay, thanks for the recs! I'll definitely give them a listen.
Aside from Infected Mushroom, Daft Punk, Skrillex's "Scary Monsters" EP and Justice's "Cross", Big
Beat is THE genre that got me into electronic music forever. That's part of the reasons why I love the
Chems so much hahaha :P "Block Rockin' Beats" is like my bread and butter. | Eloriaz
06.05.13 | And yeah, Atom Bomb is a dancefloor killer. | SanguineCream
06.05.13 | Oh yeah forgot Infected Mushiez... They're mostly psy-trance so i didn't think of them. Anything by
Noisia (My World and Shellshock are slammin' up loud)
Any of the Lords of Acid's stuff as well, including their new song Paranormal Energy | Eloriaz
06.05.13 | Woaaaah, "Paranormal Energy" drops so hard at the 1:43 mark.

06.05.13 | The Jaxx are right in my heart! Just look at my ratings ;)
I didn't put them here because they are kinda more into short sweet and explosive house tracks. | Acanthus
06.05.13 | All great tunes, nice list. | Eloriaz
06.05.13 | Cheers, thanks! | Eloriaz
06.05.13 | Wow, that Lo-Fidelity Allstars track is so cool. | mursu
