Toondude10
03.22.16 | by the time the second trailer came out for this I was pretty sure it was going to be bad |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | I wouldn't take rotten tomatoes or metacritic ratings to heart tbh dude.
I'm still pretty hyped for it and I'm not even big into superhero movies anymore... |
Observer
03.22.16 | saw that, godamn |
someguest
03.22.16 | Shit, like any other comic book film. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | I'm not even sure if I want to see it now. I only plan to watch good movies. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | probably gonna be a pile of shit, like anyone is surprised |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | That's a lot higher than I thought it would get
It looks like it might be one of the worst movies ever made |
guitarded_chuck
03.22.16 | movie looks like dogshit
|
Toondude10
03.22.16 | it's funny considering I enjoyed Man of Steel. Sure it's heavily flawed but I still liked it for what it was. The comic-con trailer was really good. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | @Trebor I wouldn't be surprised if it gets lower tbh |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | Two characters you care nothing about saying awful dialogue and punching each other for 2 hours against a grey and brown CGI background with three other DC characters shoehorned in for no reason and jessie eisenberg completely miscast just hanging out in the background |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | That second trailer that starts with batman beating the shit out of some goons in a warehouse looked cool but yeah it's gonna be a letdown |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | Do you bleed?
YOU WIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLL UUUUUUGHHHHHHHH oscar for best adapted screenplay here we come |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | they really should've just stuck with Man of Steel 2 or whatever it was going to be called but no, they have to compete with Marvel because money makes the world go round. |
Observer
03.22.16 | it has doomsday in it so idk (i think) |
MyNameIsPencil
03.22.16 | I'm more happy about this than I think I should be
|
Toondude10
03.22.16 | whoever thought Doomsday was a good idea should've been shot. Apparently Darkseid makes an appearance too. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | @Trebor best line in cinematic history |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | I really dislike every movie Zack Snyder has made so far in his career so I am just going to avoid this unless my friends decide to drag me to it. |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | jessie eisenberg is completely miscast
in every movie he's ever been in.
no love for dawn of the dead cl0ver? |
Shuyin
03.22.16 | Hopeless, the second trailer spoiled the movie for everyone. We're not invested in the main fight anymore |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | Also it's a SUPERHERO movie that looks like it's less fun and has less humor than Schindler's List |
MyNameIsPencil
03.22.16 | what the fuck really
DC < Marvel in terms of live action
(but DC > Marvel in animation so it evens out kinda) |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | Zack Snyder is practically a more gay version of Michael Bay |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | @Trebor lol are you from the 1970s? Superhero movies can't be fun anymore idiot. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | hack snyder |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | I will never understand the appeal of watching two characters fight for 45 minutes
It's how I felt with Episode III
why not make the fight 5 minutes? All that matters is what's going on between the characters and the outcome of the fight, watching a bunch of shit on the screen and people punching each other for 45 minutes is boring. Watching anything for 45 minutes is boring liek fuck I really don't understand these movies |
someguest
03.22.16 | "Also it's a SUPERHERO movie that looks like it's less fun and has less humor than Schindler's List"
Cool. Another movie to make out too. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | @Tuna idk about that, I do enjoy the Avengers movies |
hal1ax
03.22.16 | how do u know that they fight for a solid 45min? |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | I think he means in general, not just in the movie |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | @Trebor the RLM review said it best, that fight would've been exciting if it was 5 minutes long but it ended up being boring as fuck |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | considering that the fight in Man of Steel was just about as long as that, id suspect itd be a trend. |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | the movie's called batman vs. superman. if they don't fight at least half the movie the title's false |
Tyler.
03.22.16 | I want to see the movie so bad just to confirm how bad it is |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | @Pump lol |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | Have you ever wanted to see Captain America and Iron Man punch each other for 45 minutes while a CGI Spiderman that you don't know about or care about because there wasn't enough time for character development hangs out in the background? Get hype!
like no I want a good story with good dialogue and good characters who have character development like fuck |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | dont give Zack more money to allow the DC Cinematic Universe to exist |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @trebor you want all that from a superhero movie? lol |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | you can't have proper character development when your film has 4000 characters and on top of that DC says you have to introduce another 50 for future films |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | also i am actually looking forward to Civil War, Spiderman has been so fucking done to death in hollywood that throwing him into the universe as a character without a background is a blessing, let him develop past "my uncle is dead great power lets fight green goblin yay" |
Tyler.
03.22.16 | The spiderman in that trailer looks like a balloon like he looked so bad. At leas civil war looks somewhat enjoyable |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | I'm actually really worried about Civil War, I feel like it's going to end up as just another Avengers movie instead of it just being about Captain America. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | I have no problem with people gang raping DOJ, it looks like an overly serious piece of shit anyway. |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | It was probably rushed a little bit for the sake of trailer hype, id imagine it will look better in the final cut of the film. Think something like the dinosaurs in the jurassic world trailer vs the final product. |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | I'm at that age now where suspension of disbelief requires genuine effort on my part. and most of the time I just cba with the fuckton of ridiculous concepts at work in comic movies |
Shuyin
03.22.16 | The spider man in that CW trailer was closer to the original comic version than any other spider man in movies ever |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | I'm at that age now where suspension of disbelief requires genuine effort on my part[2]
over use of cgi just takes me right out of the movie, does my fucking head in when people praise this shit when it's just the same movie over and over again |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | But Trebor, I just want to turn off my brain and watch flashing colors and lights go by on a screen for two and a half hours
Like fuck that, just stare at your dick, it'll got more character development and it'll save you 15 bucks |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | hopefully marvel spiderman = best spiderman |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "@trebor you want all that from a superhero movie? lol"
yes because I have this thing called s t a d a r d s and I don't want to spend 15 bucks on fucking crap |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | "hopefully marvel spiderman = best spiderman"
which one? they're all from Marvel |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | The hype machine for this film has been absolutely nauseating |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | "But Trebor, I just want to turn off my brain and watch flashing colors and lights go by on a screen for two and a half hours"
pffffffffft.
"over use of cgi just takes me right out of the movie, does my fucking head in when people praise this shit when it's just the same movie over and over again"
i agree, the CGI in Jurassic World got so damn out of hand that it pretty much took the one thing i wanted to enjoy about the movie away from me. I think Marvel's CGI is hit and miss, in a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy or Winter Soldier it was outstanding while in Ultron it looked stupid as hell. I guess it just depends on how its being used and how much is being used. |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | sorry, i meant to say "Disney Spiderman" |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | wow, it jumped up to 41%, didn't expect that to jump the high
again, early reviews so it's probably not many of them |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @tunaboy yeah, effects are cool and all but the modern school of hollywood filmmaking likes to be able to flash its' wad and show EXACTLY where that mountain of money went. CGI's best because they outsource and are only bound by imagination. fuck novelties like practical effects, competent scripting and character dev. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | if you want to see a movie with amazing CGI effects, go watch Interstellar |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "I'm actually really worried about Civil War, I feel like it's going to end up as just another Avengers movie instead of it just being about Captain America."
captain america doesn't really have a character so that would honestly be a good thing
I'm da good guy, but I also love my friend even though he's a bad guy now or like isn't anymore or something? Even though the audience couldn't care less about buckley or whatever and most people forgot who the fuck he was or that he was even in the first cap movie
Hey I'm iron man, they told me I have to punch you for 45 minutes cuz you won't sign a paper or something.
Hey iron man, I'm gonna punch you for 45 minutes cuz, ughh, my friend, or something
Hey I'm spider-man, I'm just here for some reason. Hey remember those sam raimi movies? Man those were great. Oh wait, is it my turn to punch someone yet.
Just wait till I get my own movie and you get to see me punch green goblin for 25 minutes and then punch venom for 25 minues and then in the next movie venom is the good guy and we team up and punch carnage for 45 minutes it's gonna be great |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | looks like the reviews are shaping up to be heavy 50/50 on if the movie is good or garbage.
just like every other zack snyder film ever how about that shit |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | AMAZING, HERE'S A BILLION DOLLARS! |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | "Just wait till I get my own movie and you get to see me punch green goblin for 25 minutes and then punch venom for 25 minues and then in the next movie venom is the good guy and we team up and punch carnage for 45 minutes it's gonna be great"
wasn't that Spiderman 3? except with Sandman instead of Carnage? |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @cl0ver idk, 300's like my guilty pleasure |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | 300 is fun but stupid, I'd rather watch something with substance like Mad Max |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | spiderman 3 has character and charisma though |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | im going to go out on a limb and assume that disney wont be using Green Goblin or Venom for their spiderman movie because of how tired that concept is. |
Deathconscious
03.22.16 | Looks like its going to suck hard. I like fun, but fun doesnt have to equal "generic piece of shit." |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | @CLOVER oh they're definitely going to try Green Goblin at some point, maybe not in the first film but eventually. He's practically Spiderman's rival. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | they'll use the green goblin as long as it doesn't upset the test audiences |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @tuna yeah spiderman 3 didn't deserve as much hate as it got. inbetween the emo fringes and the overabundance of villains fighting for screentime, it was a pretty fun watch |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | Man of Steel was a hard 1/10 and zach snyder has no talent so I don't know where this hype came from
I think people just like being hyped? And then they go into the movie expecting it to be amazing and they don't think critically and they want to be able to say it was amazing like everyone else |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | man of steel was fucking shit, one of the worst films I've seen in the last 10 years without a doubt |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | well considering almost everyone thought the batman trilogy was amazing and a good number of people thought that man of steel was amazing and considering a large majority of the movie goer populace is eating up super hero movies and considering that this movie is the "edgy" film that some people are looking for it makes sense why this is hyped to death.
its not even complicated honestly. |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @trebor man of steel was dogshit, but zack snyder definitely has some talent- direction very rarely equates to the finished product. Watchmen was a well-directed movie.
It just sucked ass. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | Christopher Nolan should've directed Man of Steel instead of Snyder, at least he knows how to make a gritty Superhero film. |
gryndstone
03.22.16 | do they kiss or not |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | that shot where superman is side by side with jesus on the cross in the church scene made me laugh out loud, a competent screenwriter zack snyder is not |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | "Watchmen was a well-directed movie."
pffffft |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | "do they kiss or not"
I'm sure a lot of people would love to see that |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | @toon that's another thing I can't get to grips with; it's a man who dresses up as a bat and fights crime. How the fuck do you make that gritty? I don't know, but Nolan did it, and the result is I just can't take his batman films seriously
and Watchmen was a well-directed movie, the problem is the production tries too hard to be faithful to the comic. An adaptation of Watchmen was never going to work on every level |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | Christopher Nolan probably looked at the screenplay for MOS, laughed and told Snyder "good luck". |
gryndstone
03.22.16 | are you telling me there are no homoerotic undertones |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "Watchmen was a well-directed movie."
lol dude I don't know about that
"Christopher Nolan should've directed instead of Snyder, at least he knows how to make a gritty Superhero film."
dude the director doesn't matter when the script is garbage. They fucking write this scripts in a weekend and act like it doesn't matter, but the movie is the story |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | The screenwriters play just as much of a part as the director, if your screenplay is shit there's nothing the director can to to fix it. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | "Christopher Nolan probably looked at the screenplay for MOS, laughed and told Snyder "good luck"."
Funny considering that his brother wrote it, at least I think he did. |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | I don't want to pull the whole I went to film school I write and direct shit, but coming from a filmmaking standpoint, these films fail on a fundamental level and are objectively bad |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | actually no, Christopher Nolan himself wrote the story (someone else actually wrote the screenplay) |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | David S. Goyer wrote the screenplay for Man of Steel
the same guy who wrote The Crow: City of Angels
it all makes sense now |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | how is Watchmen not well directed? It's hardly progressive but it's hardly bad. Direction in that movie was the only thing I thought was solid, aside from the soundtrack |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | didn't care for Watchmen |
Rowan5215
03.22.16 | Watchmen is a fucking great film |
ScuroFantasma
03.22.16 | Geeze you guys are a bunch of downers judging a movie before you've seen it. Like I'm all for speculation but come on, at least wait til it's out before you completely dismiss it. |
Anthracks
03.22.16 | Looked terrible from the first promo that I saw. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | Brad Jones is going to have a fucking field day with this movie |
Gameofmetal
03.22.16 | jesus fuck trebor fucking hates superhero movies |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | @Scuro, i'd usually agree with you man but... its a Zack Snyder DC film set in the Man of Steel universe with an "edgy" aesthetic. i could see the red flags from miles away. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | @Game doesn't everyone? |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | jesus fuck trebor fucking hates superhero movies [2] |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | dawn of aaaaaaaaaaaiiiids |
LotusFlower
03.22.16 | i like super hero movies when they arent as lame as Ultron |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | Ultron was a 4/10 at best |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | I enjoyed Ant Man more |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | I liked Ultron a lot, one of my favorite movies of last year |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "Like I'm all for speculation but come on, at least wait til it's out before you completely dismiss it."
Dude like 500 movies come out a year I can't be watching movies that are 99% likely to be bad |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "jesus fuck trebor fucking hates superhero movies"
very much not true. I just hate bad movies. Guardians of The Galaxy is my fucking jam. I don't think I would ever give a superhero movie more than an 8/10 though |
Hep Kat
03.22.16 | shit has sank to norbit measurements. lol gg DC |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | Best superhero movie of the last ten years (for me, this is very subjective) is X-Men DOFP. |
Toondude10
03.22.16 | eh, I'd pick Winter Soldier over X-Men. That being said, I can't wait for Apocalypse |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | DOFP was cool |
Deathconscious
03.22.16 | "at least wait til it's out before you completely dismiss it."
Sorry, but no. |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | Winter Soldier was decent but I never understood why people seem to elevate it above the MCU and actually say it's this amazingly well made film that blows other superhero movies out of the water.
It's good, by the standards of the MCU. |
TheSonomaDude
03.22.16 | Zack Snyder sucks and he's directing all DC Superhero projects |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | winter soldier wasn't about anything and I forgot about it the second I left the theater
It wasn't bad though, that's what's so frustrating about a lot of these movies, they aren't bad, they're well made but they don't do anything interesting or different |
PumpBoffBag
03.22.16 | they trusted snyder with big projects too early in his career, and now he's a mainstay for comic book movies because his films ended up being profitable, acclaimed or no |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | It's sad that you can watch a $200 million movie with all of these state of the art effects, go "meh" and then forget about it an hour later. Over-saturation is the key issue. |
Trebor.
03.22.16 | "It's sad that you can watch a $200 million movie with all of these state of the art effects, go "meh" and then forget about it an hour later. Over-saturation is the key issue."
idk this all makes sense to me. Great dialogue and story don't cost anything. Fucking Clerks was made for 22K and today he could have made it for free with a digital camera |
Tunaboy45
03.22.16 | It just saddens me that the films with the smart writing, well written dialogue/characters and interesting stories are the ones being ignored.
I know it's always been that way but still it's a shitty state of affairs. |
Quake
03.23.16 | inb4 but Deadpool had smart writing. |
Tunaboy45
03.23.16 | did it? |
Hep Kat
03.23.16 | dude trebor do u now or have u ever previously owned a marvel comic y/n |
Quake
03.23.16 | There was some smart writing I suppose, but some of it seemed like it was there to disguise how rushed the film was overall. |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | Deadpool was great, story-wise it was rather plain but the writing and the acting overall made it worthwhile |
rockandmetaljunkie
03.23.16 | some people will get emotional with the ending of this film... |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | you saw it? |
TheSonomaDude
03.23.16 | Ben Affleck is the best Batman!!! Very emotional performance!! |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | Empire gave it 3 stars, pretty much what I was expecting tbh. As long as it's not 100% dismal, it'll live up to my expectations |
adr
03.23.16 | >getting emotional on a superhero film
this will be so bad |
TheSonomaDude
03.23.16 | So as long as it isn't completely shitty, it'll be fine. If it's pretty shitty, that's good, but a full log of shit? No way |
Quake
03.23.16 | I don't think there's ever been an actor who has played Batman where people immediately thought it would work. And some of them have pulled it off pretty well, which is why I'm intersted in seeing affleck's portrayal. |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | well my friend who is a DC junkie and defends Man of Steel to death has confirmed this movie sucks so be afraid |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | >getting emotional in a superhero film
nothing wrong with that. I shed a tear when goeth died at the end of schindler's list |
claygurnz
03.23.16 | Yeah my hopes weren't high for this. Will still go and see though. I'm expecting the new Captain America to be great though. |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | idontthinkschindlerslistwasasuperherofilm |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | man - superman
close enough |
Tunaboy45
03.23.16 | I have a feeling Affleck will be the only good thing about it
|
PistolPete
03.23.16 | Every Zach Snyder movie ends up getting a max 58 or lower on Metacritic. I don't know what people were expecting, he's not that great a director and the trailer exposed early on that the plot was going to be convoluted and lame. Too many characters, too many surprise appearances to get through.
I'm betting Captain America will be the same too. Even MORE characters in that one. |
Quake
03.23.16 | "well my friend who is a DC junkie and defends Man of Steel to death has confirmed this movie sucks so be afraid"
I hated Man of Steel, so maybe through some strange twisted logic that means I'll like this. |
WhiteNoise
03.23.16 | Zack Snyder needs to stop making movies. |
rockandmetaljunkie
03.23.16 | "you saw it?"
No, but read the full synopsis of the film and I know how it ends. You wan't me to spoil it for you ? |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | no, you'll probably just some people here angry |
zaruyache
03.23.16 | "winter soldier wasn't about anything and I forgot about it the second I left the theater"
trebor confirmed hydra agent |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.23.16 | the funny thing is that trebor can bitch and moan until he's blue in the face and his shrivelled up raisin dick falls off yet people will still rather watch even the shittiest super hero movie like green lantern or daredevil over his failures at screen plays
but i would never say a thing like that cuz making fun of trebor is like kicking a drunk cripple with sever anxiety and depression while he lays in a busy street crying and waiting to get run over by a car |
Titan
03.23.16 | Batman vs Superman lol.....41% sounds generous.....go ahead pots dude, defend it some more |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | lol |
zaruyache
03.23.16 | watr trebs screenplays about i kinda wanna read them. |
TheSonomaDude
03.23.16 | "I don't think there's ever been an actor who has played Batman where people immediately thought it would work. And some of them have pulled it off pretty well, which is why I'm intersted in seeing affleck's portrayal."
True, but the difference is that Keaton and Bale are both emotive actors who have played a wide range of roles, or atleast wider than Affleck, who does the same monotonous bland performance in 99% of his films. |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | eh Chasing Amy brought out a quite impressive emotional performance from Affleck I reckon |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | One thing that will more than likely tell that it's a bad movie before it's out is if the trailer literally shows you the entire story. Gods of Egypt did it, The Divergent Series did it, The Smurfs movies did it, and this one did it too. |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | another thing that will more likely tell you is if its a Zack Snyder produciton |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | ^that too
and yeah Ben Affleck has had quite a few good roles, it's just no one really associates him with any of them |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | muh smurfs movie!
also the Funny People trailer did it. That movie is fucking dreadful |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | never heard of that one before |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | The Ghost Busters reboot trailer was obviously the movie's best jokes in one trailer and none of them were funny so i fear for that movie, too. |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | "never heard of that one before"
theres a reason why |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | let me sum up the trailer/ movie for you:
'you have cancer'
'sheeeeeiiiit'
'you don't have cancer'
'sheeeeeiiiiit'
the end. |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | the new Ghostbusters is being directed by Paul Fieg who did Spy and Bridesmaids so there may be some hope for it.
It'll probably get the same reaction that the last Indiana Jones movie did in which the critics liked it but everyone else hated it. |
LotusFlower
03.23.16 | Wow, had no idea that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had such high critical praise. Somethings gotta give there. Also I had hope, but that trailer pretty much killed any hope i had for it. Ill prolly just watch it when it eventually mkes its way to Redbox or something. |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | I wouldn't say "high critical praise" for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but it did get pretty good reviews overall. |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | I think the praise for the last Indy was why I didn't just dislike it, I really fucking hated it. Like bitter disappointment coupled with rage for having been lied to. |
Toondude10
03.23.16 | I actually liked that one. Yeah the premise was stupid as shit but it still had most of the tropes that made the other movies fun (for the most part). |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | Some of the setpieces felt very Indy, I'll give it that, but I feel like there was an interesting depth to the original 3 movies that made them more than just shallow escapism.
and then, suddenly, russians and aliens. god damn. |
JohnWick
03.23.16 | Shia Labeouf doing his Tarzan thing through the jungle certainly didn't help matters. |
PumpBoffBag
03.23.16 | when has shia labeouf ever helped matters in any capacity? |

Shia Labeouf gets too much shit imo. Say what you will about the Transformers movies and his personal life, the guy is actually a pretty good actor. |

03.23.16 | nah, I could live with the dude till I saw him in Nymphomaniac. He's in that movie for less than 1/4 of it, and somehow he managed to fuck up so badly, his poor performance was the only thing I could recollect after I went home.
Sorry, Von Trier fanboy here, shoot me. |

03.25.16 | Well, just saw Batman v. Superman. I liked it a lot. Had a ton of problems, mainly to do with editing/pacing, but the good far outweighed the bad for me. The visuals in this film alone are spectacular, so I don't really get all the hatred that this film's been receiving from critics. The film's too long, Jesse Eisenberg's performance as Lex Luthor is bizarre, there are plenty of awkward cuts throughout (such as the sudden jump to a scene featuring Superman and Martha Kent standing outside their farmhouse, seemingly mid-conversation too), the ending seemingly lasts forever at a certain point (which gave me flashbacks to Return of the King and, surprisingly, X-Men: The Last Stand) and many more things to nitpick. However, despite all of that, I still walked away feeling extremely satisfied with the film overall. Hell, even Eisenberg's performance started to grow on me the further the film progressed to it's insanity-laced climax that is just loaded with tons of "HOLY $#!%" moments (caught myself saying "holy $#!%" on 3 or 4 occasions, nearly forgetting that there were also kids in the theater... even though I'd argue that this is most definitely NOT a kid's film). |
zaruyache
03.25.16 | i'm kinda excited to see it tomorrow since at the very least I know it'll look good and have cool fight scenez and explosi0nz. How awful does Doomsday look, though? Cus he looked lulzy in the trailer. |
riffariffic7
03.25.16 | Let's just say that I was shaking when he made his first appearance. Now I don't know if that was because part of the theater was D-Box when I saw it or what, but he looks 100 times better than he did in the trailer and he gets more deformed as the fight progresses. You'll love it (or at least I hope you do). |

ScuroFantasma
03.25.16 | Okay, here's my honest opinion:
It's fucking great, the trailer is an awful representation of the film. This line: "do you bleed?...you will." - is a perfect example, because it's not said as a direct threat in the movie.
Honestly, it's actually really really good, aside from some weird/jarring editing and the occasionally sub-par dialogue, it's excellent. The visuals are much better than I expected from the trailer, the CGI is very well done. Directing was handled very well and the pacing was superb. Also on a destruction level, if you thought marvel weren't fucking around in Avengers with then you'll be surprised here. For a superhero movie I don't see how anyone would be disapointed with it. |
Storm In A Teacup
03.25.16 | I just don't think the plotholes hurt the Nolan trilogy that badly. I always am frustrated at the tunnel scene though. They could have gone around that fire wreck?!??!!!! |

riffariffic7
03.25.16 | Suicide Squad looks like it's easily going to be the best comic-book film of the year based solely on the fact that it's promoting something fresh and original for the genre: a story about the villains. Just watch both Suicide Squad trailers back-to-back, they both perfectly capture a sense of dread and joyfulness throughout. I just watched that Comic-Con footage again and forgot how creepy it was in comparison to the new trailer, which makes the film seem like a fun 'ol romp. All-in-all, I cannot wait for Suicide Squad and more DC films to follow (solo Batman with Ben Affleck needs to happen, fast). |

DrGonzo1937
03.25.16 | Just watched it. It was solid right up until the last quarter where you can just hear the studio screaming at Zack to cram as much shit into the last 20 minutes as possible. Affleck was by far the best thing in it; dare I say, he's the best Batman so far. |
JokineAugustus
03.25.16 | Its pretty average as far as recent superhero movies go, and not enough character development. |
YuriZakhaev
03.25.16 | Watched it last night. Movie was fucking ass. All kinds of events just popping on screen with no foreshadowing and completely unconnected to the main story. Hell, the introduction to Batman could've just been the first ten minutes of Batman Begins with Affleck's face shooped on Bale's. Justice League better make up for that tremendous pile of shit. At least the tickets were free. |
Toondude10
03.25.16 | Yeah I hear Affleck made a pretty damn good Batman |
YuriZakhaev
03.25.16 | Affleck was pretty damn good as Batman, I'll admit. Dialogue was so bad, though. His name should be Ben Swoleffleck due to how huge he got for that role tbh. |
Toondude10
03.25.16 | About Suicide Squad though, I've been noticing how the director is practically giving Jared Leto handjobs, as in he keep praising his performance as the Joker over and over just to cancel out how much people are hating on him. |
zaruyache
03.25.16 | Saw the film and sat in the second row bc it was packed, so it was kinda hard to keep up all the time, but I didn't think it was *that* bad. Bad pacing, seemed like it took forever for anything to happen, some corny lines, bad editing, but not a trainwreck. The really obvious Wonder Woman crotch shot actually made me mad, though. Why i needes to practically see her naughty buts is beyond me. |
YuriZakhaev
03.25.16 | It's not the worst superhero flick I've ever seen, but god damn, they tried squeezing two or three movies' worth of material into one movie. They could've paced it so much better. |
LotusFlower
03.25.16 | "Suicide Squad looks like it's easily going to be the best comic-book film of the year based solely on the fact that it's promoting something fresh and original for the genre: a story about the villains."

zaruyache
03.25.16 | Uh clover are you blatantly unaware of the premise of that movie bc that's exactly what is gonna happen. Badguy is a witch whose name i forget and they fight her in the end. For justice or whatever. |
riffariffic7
03.25.16 | I'd be happy with that, CL0VER. For instance, watching The Joker inadvertently save the day from an even greater evil would be an epic sight to see.
Still cannot shake Batman v. Superman from my brain. Reading and watching everybody's reviews for it has been fascinating to say the least. I find it interesting how DC's latest foray of films have sparked heavy debate from many passionate viewers on either side of the "good/bad" argument, meanwhile the latest couple of Marvel/Disney films get the good 'ol "it was good" compliment factory spewed at them constantly. There's hardly, if at all, any debate that goes into talking about a Marvel Studios film. There was that backlash against Iron Man 3, but that was more so a shouting match and less so an actual debate.
Speaking of Iron Man though, it seems like a lot of people are walking out of this film, Batman v. Superman, just as disappointed as I was when I walked out from seeing Iron Man 2. I can't recall ever being letdown so much by a movie sequel in my entire life. Leaving the theater, I was visibly upset, there was nearly nothing of value in that film, apart from that cool "suitcase armor" action sequence. Iron Man 2 was 2 hours long, more than half of that runtime was riddled with flat jokes, poor attempts at setting up The Avengers, two lame villains (admittedly Mickey Rourke was pretty good, though, after that interrogation scene, he does become a caricature), mediocre CGI and a dull climax that immediately falls on it's face.
Despite those glaring flaws, Iron Man 2 is sitting at a comfortable 72% on Rotten Tomatoes (from both audiences and critics surprisingly). If a film like that can do so well critically, why couldn't a film like Batman v. Superman do just as well? Is it the fact that the film is heavily political and we're on the heels of having an insane man possibly elected President? Is it because we're fresh off the coattails of Deadpool's successful annihilation of all things comic-book/superhero movie oriented? I don't get it.
Maybe if they got Ben Affleck to tell some more cheesily-written jokes in the style of Robert Downey Jr., maybe then the film would have received more pointers from people? I just don't know. All I know is that I'm sick of seeing films like Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman being bashed because they have more thought put into them, and they get better with repeat viewings (unlike Marvel movies, which just get worse with each viewing). If there's nothing to challenge you within the movie, besides the predetermined notion that you're going to like the film because everyone else does, then what the hell's the point of seeing a film to begin with? |
Toondude10
03.25.16 | I liked Iron Man 2 |

03.25.16 | It was more that the pacing and editing were bad and a looooot of stuff felt out of pkace or shoehorned in. The Aquaman vid is seriously like 10 seconds of him slowly swimming toward the camera doing nothing interestinf until the end. It has loads of awkward directing like that. If you can stomach that, though, I'm sure it can be a rewarding film. Need to see it again, though. |

03.25.16 | good thoughts riffariffic
i just saw bvs this morning and it was good. my qualms with it were small enough that i dont really feel the need to write anything about it and it wasnt mind blowing to a scale that i need to rant about it either. it was just good. definitely better than all the marvel films so far thats for sure. would have liked to see more batman, ben affleck was the best part of the movie other than wonder woman. really liked ezra millers little cameo in his armoured flash suit too. aquamans cameo was underwhelming. cyborgs was neat. the parademons looked great and amazingly comic accurate. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | also
"Calling it now and its gonna bait/switch and the villains will be the good guys saving the day from evil but only in a dark, sadistic way."
lmao uh my man maybe you should fucking read the premise of the film and the comics because its literally about the villains being sanctioned to fight evil. |
zaruyache
03.26.16 | that was the flash in his dream/not dream vision? I really hated that part because it seemed to completely come out of nowhere, wasn't explained at all, wasn't clear if it was real or not, and it totally threw off the tone by suddenly popping in. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | ^^^yeah that was the flash. he was wearing some type of helmet for interdimensional travel or whatever and the whole time portal thing made it difficult to make out but when he flipped up the visor u could see his mask and shit. the suit looked like the one from Injustice, I dig. I don't think it needed to be explained, following visions of a future potential reality where superman is a despot in a land ruled by darkseid and his parademon army make it pretty clear that the flash was coming to him in his dream to have him assemble the justice league to prevent that future from happening |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | thats the shit lex was yelling about like a lunatic too, he knows darkseid saw the beacon in man of steel too and is coming. so him and batman both know some shit gon go down. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | thats kind of one of the downfalls of the movie in one sense tho, it was so oriented towards a niche group. so much of that film doesnt pander to casual viewers and they just wouldn't get the references. not saying its bad to not know everything about dc comics history but all this flashpoint and apokolips and jason todd and dark knight returns shit isnt going to make much sense to people who arent familiar with like decades of dc history |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | but then for people like me thats not really a downfall because i do know all that shit. legacy is something i find lacking in the marvel films. like hey lets have the original ant man seem like a totally decent dude and ignore the fact that he's actually a terrible terrible person completely who beat his wife and created ultron. |
ScuroFantasma
03.26.16 | Even though I'm not familiar with all of it I still think that's awesome, they know who their audience is. That's why I was glad they didn't re-introduce Batman or anything like that beyond the bare necessity. If you're watching a Batman movie at this point and don't know who he is that's on you, gives more time to the next story instead of being stuck on origins. |
riffariffic7
03.26.16 | A lot of reviews have pointed out that the film does get better with a second viewing and I certainly felt that as soon as I walked out of the theater, I literally wanted to walk back in and see it again. I definitely agree with you on the Aquaman bit. All of the "Dawn of Justice" stuff really bogged the movie down to a screeching halt; every reveal felt hilariously hocky and amateurish, especially Cyborg's cameo. However, it simply feels like WB/DC/Synder and co. playing catch-up so that they can move forward with Justice League storylines.
Despite the fact that the movie was jam-packed with far too much, I'd much rather have too much of a good thing than too little. Iron Man 2 was that benchmark for me when it comes to recent comic-book adaptations: it was irritatingly witty throughout almost every single scene, the acting felt phoned-in (even though Downey Jr. is arguably the best part of this installment, alongside with the suitcase armor fight, he's clearly phoning it in for a few weeks before laughing his way to the bank), there's no arc for any character whatsoever and there were no stakes because "we got The Avengers coming up". I'm so done with Marvel getting a pass for releasing mediocre messes to typically stellar reviews. Age of Ultron was a blasted mess, but people still gave it a pass because "the fight between Iron Man and Hulk was awesome".
I'm so happy I didn't waste my time with seeing Age of Ultron in theaters, it felt like an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with higher paid actors and a bigger VFX budget (even though most of the CGI was noticeable and terrible, the Hulk being the primary example of that, he looked great in The Avengers, but in Age of Ultron he looks even worse than Ang Lee's Hulk at times). I'm still a fan of both Marvel and DC films, but I'm just so sick of it being so one-sided all the time. DC films these days have obliterated Marvel films in terms of thoughtfulness and longevity. I feel like Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman are going to be films that last, meanwhile Marvel's going to be forgotten about due to their "formula for success" type of storytelling and the constant "we must appeal to the mass demographic" kind of sleaze that I feel almost every time I watch a Marvel movie now (minus Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, which are easily my two favourite Marvel/Disney movies as of now). |
MeatSalad
03.26.16 | Haven't seen it yet but I'm glad you brought that up pots. The biggest problem I have with the mcu is how they change and tone down so many things to appeal to non comic book readers. Like fuck, why completely change hank pym's character and backstory (like having Stark be the one who created Ultron, on top of what you mentioned) when you're going to release an ant man movie right after anyway? Not to mention how they turn their movies into comedies for 90% of their runtimes. Kind of bummed this is getting such trashy reviews, it looked good aside from the doomsday trailer. While I would've originally said that DC shouldve taken it slow and not had so many characters jammed into one movie, I really don't think I'd enjoy another 5 year stretch of multiple movies leading up to a big ensemble film ala avengers. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | "every reveal felt hilariously hocky and amateurish, especially Cyborg's cameo."
i liked cyborgs. it made the most sense tbh. and was super on-point to his origins in the new 52. but aquamans was just kind of 'here, have some aquaman'.
agreed that ultron sucked tho
the worst part (of many awful things) was that they retconned the entire legacy of magnetos children just so they could have two characters with no more reason to be invested in for the sake of being in the film. fuck that. i do not care about inhuman quicksilver and inhuman scarlet witch. i do not give a fuck. i give a fuck about the quicksilver and scarlet witch that have been magnetos fucked up children for decades. |

Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.26.16 | marvel films are just so face-value that they don't warrant any kind of speculation or analysis whatsoever. somehow this dumbed down, one-and-done approach tricks audiences into overlooking their shortcomings from pretty much every angle while superhero films that actually attempt to tackle any semblance of a political statement get lambasted. im not one to say the superhero film trend is getting over-bloated as much as I think that instead its just being commericialized in this really watered-down way that appeals to people who just want to watch shit that can make them go completely vegetative. its becoming more and more about the money than the essence with marvel, dc seems to be trying to put their heart into it and do the source material justice (whether or not they are successful i am leaving out for arguments sake as its not really relevant to this point) and people are doubly as critical of it because even the notion of intellect in something as 'ridiculous' as superherodom is somehow offensive or something. |

03.26.16 | I'm hoping Civil War takes the quip factor down a notch. I can't remember a single funny moment in the trailers so far so that's a good sign. But even then, the movie could easily turn out to be another overblown clusterfuck just like age of ultron. 03.26.16 | however, im not saying BVS nailed some kind of brilliant political statement, quite the contrary, i think there was an underlying theme there but it wasn't channeled particularily well. not a film that left me deep in thought. but at least there was SOMETHING. |

what pushed me over the limit was seeing ward finally die and them pulling the cliche low-budget "put the giant monster baddy in his body" move. so this shit character no one ever liked ever dies and they are too cheap to have hive actually be hive so they just shove him in this shit dead characters body so we have to have the insufferable fuck around even longer while simeutaneously ruining an otherwise decent character.

the best episodes of the show come after that. when simmons or whatever is trapped on another planet. but its not worth watching to anyway cuz it just gets shit again immediately after. and they are having pseudo-mockingbird and funny english guy leave the show - and they are two of the few characters i like at all....... fuck it

riffariffic7
03.26.16 | The Netflix Daredevil series (both seasons) is the best comic-book adaptation ever brought to TV. There are bits of annoyances here and there (such as Foggy, Karen, and a few other supporting characters, like Foggy's lover), but the series as a whole is just so damned good. Vincent D'Onofrio makes the series something special though, he was the glue that kept me hooked. The first couple of episodes were good, but episode 4 is where the series really kicked off for me with the full introduction to Wilson Fisk. He's easily the best villain in the MCU by a wide-margin to the point where I hope they don't forget about him when they're making those solo Spider-Man films and such.
Jessica Jones may be the same story for me. I was surprisingly bored by the first-two episodes, so I've given up on it for now. I have a feeling though that once they reveal more Kilgrave material, the more I'll like this show. So far with Jessica Jones, I find the tone is all wrong. The "jokes" fall flat and the characterizations feel disconnected from the strongly-written characters aboard the Daredevil series. Hopefully the show gets better in my eyes the further I get along with it because I really like the main actors playing Jones and Luke Cage, they're both great and share amazing chemistry together (aside from that awkward sex scene, the first episode in general was awful for the fact that there are so many scenes involving sex and yet there's no nudity, I'm not a pervert who just longs to see naked people in every movie, but when your show is "for adults only"... maybe you shouldn't have so many restraints, as it gets especially weird when you hear a character say "holy $#!%" repeatedly instead of "holy f#@$", it just stops sounding natural and begins to feel manufactured). |

But he still hasn't killed anyone. And as much as I respect his moral code, his plan regarding the Hand is headscratching. He's going to have a bunch of immortal ninjas stand trial for trying to carry out an ancient prophecy and fighting in an ancient mystical war against an equally shadowy society? He'll be lucky if he doesn't get thrown into a loony bin with them. |

@sitar the way they handled the whole Hand storyline was... bizarre, to say the least. to be honest the whole doomsday fight was my least favourite of the action sequences. wonder woman was cool and all but yeah, cgi nuclear explosions dont really get me going as much as watching batman straight up cripple people like a boss lol. also the soundtrack was for the most part really fitting but the music for the wonder woman fight was fucking awful, it made it hard to take seriously for me. the distorted electric guitars over the rolling tribal drums, it was just so stupid. dont think there were really that many glaring plotholes though, care to elaborate on what you thought they were? |

SitarHero
03.26.16 | Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been plagued by some fairly sketchy writing of character motivations and some equally sketchy acting. I felt bad for Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson because they're easily the best actors in the cast and went from being the soul of the show in S1 to essentially a clingy ex and a glorified cameo in S2. At least they both get to crossover into JJ's world now.

03.27.16 | You guys don't think Henson is doing a good job with Foggy? His comic timing was a big part of what made the first season so good, I think. Sure, he didn't/doesn't have to do much emotional heavy lifting, but what he did he did well. |

03.27.16 | "ot even going to go on into all the ways AOU fucked up every single character in the marvel universe to the point that I want them all to die horribly on-screen in civil war,"
to be fair they ruined black widow long ago (which is most ironic due to joss whedons aggressive accusations of other directors portrayals of females when he then gives us this fucking trope ridden piece of shit black widow - holy fucking hypocrite much please kill yourself asshole)
and thor has always sucked and they had already ruined iron man in iron man 3 and hawkeye sucked from the beginning just as hard as black widow.
but they sure did ruin quicksilver and scarlet witch lemme tell ya |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | its comforting to see the teams for civil war tho. team douchebag (aka team irondouche) has everyone you'd expect to fill the ranks of the douche alliance. and team cap for the most part makes sense as well for team fuck-the-police. could do without hawkeye though cuz yeah man i hate him so much. |

the only character I remotely care about is hulk and they're not even going with the arena planet storyline so fuck it |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | agreed

Rowan5215
03.27.16 | I really liked ed norton too, shame they give him such a shitty movie but he did his best, funny how well-cast both of them were considering most of the other actors are absolutely terrible

Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | i actually liked the edward norton hulk film. tim roth was good.
im neutral towards renner as an actor tbh altho i liked him in The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things so it doesnt really bother me too much that he sucks in marvel |
Rowan5215
03.27.16 | tim roth is amazing, the guy who played the general was also great, but the script was so fucking dull. still better than every phase 2 marvel except ant-man, but that's not saying much
|
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | id argue it has a little more substance than ant-man. i watched ant-man for the second time the other night and didnt enjoy it nearly as much as the first. totally one-and-done. entertaining, of course, but just a lot of cheap-jokes and straight-forward narrative. |
Rowan5215
03.27.16 | I don't think any marvel really has anything in the way of substance. in the abstract there is sadness to hulk's story but marvel writers are apparently completely unable to wring anything like emotion out of their scripts, so I pretty much have to judge them based on the entertainment value. while ant-man isn't nearly as interesting as hulk as a character, his film is just funnier and more exciting on that basic level. but I have only seen it the once in theatres, admittedly |
Lord(e)Po)))ts

Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | "Though as i said earlier in this thread, I was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed batman vs superman. I liked the fact that half of it flew over my head because I hadn't read the comics."
yeah ive heard from several other friends that havent read any comics that they still enjoyed it a lot too so the whole "you would understand if you were a comic fan" thing is a myth. its still enjoyable to casuals. its just even more enjoyable if u are a comic fan who looks for easter eggs, and i truly get off on that shit so it was nice. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | haha yeah. i even had to do that with my buddy who does know the comics. he didnt pick up on a few really subtle things, which is fair, there were some pretty delicate nods in that film. pretty sure the large majority of comic fans dont even realize that that was jimmy olsen who got murdered when louis lane was in the desert near the beginning. and some people didnt realize that that was the flash at the end of batmans nightmare and that the omega symbol is darkseids calling card or what the fuck parademons even are. |
zaruyache
03.27.16 | so I just looked it up, and Justice Leage pt 1 comes out in 2017, THEN we get Flash, Aquaman, and Shazam solo films, THEN Justice League pt 2. I mean when BvS looked disjointed already, why would they think splitting this into two pieces and sandwiching them around other films would work, plot-wise? Is JL-1 just going to be Bats and Supe's and WW learning about Darkseid and recruiting the other heroes, then fighting some Big Bad Evil Guy together before awkwardly letting them go do their own solo missions for godknowswhatreasons? |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | i think you can answer that for yourself. obviously the solo films will take place before justice league parts 1 and 2 much like the batman solo film will take place before bvs. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.27.16 | the only joker reference i recall in bvs was the graffiti'd jason todd robin costume if that is what you are referring to. but rumour has it the batman solo film will be about red hood and batman says "how many of them stay that way?" while talking about the good guys of gotham to alfred, which is also probably a reference to jason todd going bad and taking up the mantle of the red hood. |

05.11.16 | Never really dug superhero movies tbh, except for 'The Dark Knight' which is fantastic. I don't know, guess i just don't see a lot of appeal in them, this one was pretty boring as well. |
zaruyache
05.11.16 | great movies? Deadpool, Civil War, X-Men... and Suicide Squad could end up being really fun. I'd say BvS is the only for-sure outlier. |
SitarHero
05.12.16 | For sure outlier in which direction? In that it's a crappy movie? I actually don't think it's the worst superhero movie made even in the recent past. That particular shit-flavoured cake is shared by the Amazing Spider-Man movies and Fant4stic...or whatever the fuck they called it. |
Rolling Girl
05.12.16 | I really don't see all the hate for this movie, it seems really on par if you ask me. |
SitarHero
05.12.16 | For a movie that has Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Doomsday it's dull as fuck. It's mainly the disappointment that makes people hate it. Otherwise it's just fairly subpar. |
MeatSalad
05.12.16 | "X-Men... and Suicide Squad could end up being really fun."
X-men looks kinda meh this time around, but the last one was great so im still hopeful. I was excited for suicide squad until i heard/saw margot robbie's harley quinn in the trailer, fucking awful |
SitarHero
05.12.16 | Margot Robbie is easily the best thing about the Suicide Squad trailers. Without her it looks like another dreary colour-free slog through the DCU. |
L4titudes
05.12.16 | Wish I could express how much I hate super hero movies |
wwf
05.12.16 | 'For a movie that has Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Doomsday it's dull as fuck. It's mainly the disappointment that makes people hate it. Otherwise it's just fairly subpar.'
I honestly disagree, I was expecting a decent movie and instead it's probably one of the worst, most messy movies I've ever seen lmao |
Snide
05.22.16 | One of the best superhero movies I've seen in a while honestly. |
chinesewhispers
05.22.16 | Movie kinda blew floppy donkey dick |
Snide
05.22.16 | Ben Affleck and Henry Caville are the best portrayals of Batman and Superman respectively in the entire backlog of Batman and Superman films. |
chinesewhispers
05.22.16 | Batfleck was ight but Caville just looked the part, his performance was serviceable but that's it. The script is what fucked it up the ass |
Toondude10
05.22.16 | yeah it was pretty terrible but there was some good stuff in it. Remember when people tried to get the President to change the casting of Batman |
Snide
05.22.16 | I didn't have too much of a problem with the writing, the only complaints I had about the movie were its awkward pacing and the fact that they kinda just whipped out Doomsday outta nowhere just so that the film could have its huge climactic villain. |
Underflow
05.22.16 | Superman had nothing to do in this movie. |
Toondude10
05.22.16 | except die |
Snide
05.22.16 | You saw the dirt rise off the coffin at the end of the movie, he's not actually dead.
They're not gonna do a Justice League without Superman. |
Toondude10
05.22.16 | give it time
they'll fuck with this universe even more somehow |
Snide
05.22.16 | I do feel that Wonder Woman was excellent though, and I'm excited for her solo movie. |
chinesewhispers
05.22.16 | Bro I saw this movie once shortly after this release, didn't talk about it w/ anybody and I still remember multiple wtf moments throughout the film.
Speaking of villains, though I like Jesse Eisenberg as an actor, his performance as Lex Luthor was fucking annoying plus they wrote him out to be a little bitch. I'd rather have them bring Spacey back tbh |
Snide
05.22.16 | Personally I dug his performance as Lex up until the end of the film, those weird ass "doo doo" noises he was making in the jail cell just seemed really contrived and silly. |
chinesewhispers
05.22.16 | Bruh after that shit I was like "fuck this movie" |
Snide
05.22.16 | I gotta say though, even though Doomsday's appearance was forced as fuck, the final battle between Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman and Doomsday was fucking legit. |
chinesewhispers
05.22.16 | I mean yeah, it was enjoyable but the way Wonder Woman and Doomsday were introduced was lazy af |
Snide
05.22.16 | I disagree with the first part of that. Doomsday was lazy af yes; but Wonder Woman's introduction was rather nice, and just added onto the cavalcade of shit Bruce Wayne / Batty Mc Bat Bat was dealing with. It also established her as a resourceful character with some spunk to her and I dug it. |
Toondude10
05.22.16 | I wanted to see the potential in Eisenberg, but yeah that was just bad |
Snide
05.22.16 | I didn't mind Eisenberg's performance up until the majorly silly jail part at the end of the film. |
Toondude10
11.30.16 | well at least Wonder Woman looks badass |
neekafat
11.30.16 | That's what they said about Suicide Squad |
zaruyache
11.30.16 | not as much tho and this actually *looks* good. The shots of Themyscira are really pretty, the cgi looks good--it looks like it was a well-shot film. And it lacked anything as cringy as the Joker, so I have hope. |
Devastator
11.30.16 | I still just shake my head whenever anyone brings up the Joker from SS |
zaruyache
11.30.16 | They shoulda just cast Willem Dafoe like everyone on the planet wanted. Even the dumbest lines would've seemed unhinged coming from him, and the age difference between he and Harley would've made their relationship much more interesting. |
Devastator
11.30.16 | The character himself is just poorly developed and written. At no point was I ever like "shit man this IS the joker" he just seemed like a regular insane villain. |
Impervious
11.30.16 | Joker was this creepy mouth-breathing mob gangster. That shit was whack as hell. Suicide Squad was a total trainwreck. At least BvS fixed a lot of the pacing issues with the Ultimate Cut. There's no way that can be done with Suicide Squad and that's only one of the multitude of bullshit in it. |
MarsKid
11.30.16 | DC found success with Nolan's Batman trilogy and have tried replicating it ever since. It's not working out. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | DC has always had decent success with Batman save Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. They also had Superman but weren't really able to get any of their other superheroes off the ground.
They just keep bringing Batman back in to it because he's relatable, not a god, and is deeply rich in characters and stories.
Batman sells. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | "Batman sells."
This x1000 |
NorwichScene
12.02.16 | I didn't mind this or SS. Both good 7/10 movies imo |
Impervious
12.02.16 | I think my beef with Suicide Squad is that it wasn't just a poor superhero movie. With all the bad editing, sloppy music choices, the god awful plot and even waste of most of the characters, it's just a really poor movie in general. |
BeyondCosby
12.02.16 | Yeah Jared Leto sucked as the Joker. I can't see him facing off against either Batman or Superman and being taken seriously. When you have a batman who will literally put your face through the floor it's hard to believe that a Joker who regularly goes to clubs and has too many associates could actually beat him. The whole point of the Joker is that he's a loner. He manipulates people under him, but no one would ever be close enough to "know" him much less fuck Harley Quinn. |
neekafat
12.02.16 | Batman Forever actually sold a lot of tickets and was actually pretty damn good. It's kinda a guilty pleasure |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Lol, point still proven that Batman sells! I meant more critically for those two.
What pisses me off royally is they released the information about why Leto's Joker looks the way he does after the movie was released in an interview...WHY was that not in the movie? It's a pretty cool story too so that makes me hate the movie even more for not showing us but rather blandly stating, "yeah this happened." instead. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | What was the reasoning? I didn't even know they released anything about that. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Before Batman went on his murder spree he was like the traditional Batman where he didn't kill anyone. He also had Robin (Jason Todd) at the time. Apparently what happened was Robin got beat to shit and killed by The Joker and Harley Quinn. When Batman found out, he got so angry that he beat the Joker almost to death and busted out all his teeth. Joker, thinking of himself as no longer beautiful, tattooed "Damaged" on his forehead because of it. He of course got a whole bunch of other ink done along with his new grillz to replace the teeth he no longer had. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | Oh I've heard variations of that but it all always ended with Jason dying Bats snapping and being murder happy. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Pre much. That's why Robin's costume is in the Bat Cave. It's a reminder just as much as the tattoos and grillz are. It's actually really fucking cool but of course doesn't mean shit because it isn't in the films. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | True, do you subscribe to the theory that the Joker IS Jason Todd? |
zaruyache
12.02.16 | when they're doing the character bios at the start and all that comicy text pops up, Harley's mentions she was involved in killing Robin. The only direct references to Jason Todd are that and the Robin outfit with HA HA HA written on it. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Meh, it's a bit of a stretch. I just think a lot of DC fans want to know there are bigger plans for the DCMU past building the Justice League and everyone and their mother wants another Batman movie regardless. I think it would be cool but only if they do it right.
Personally, I'm really excited about the bits of rumors I've heard about not only having Deadshot but also having a few other villains in it. I'm hopeful they'll realize we just need some new faces and Batman has by far the most interesting and coolest Rogue's Gallery of any comic book character. I also thought I heard a rumor they would visit Arkham Asylum too and that would be fucking sweet. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | YEAH! So get this mindfucking bullshit. So Harley helps kill Jason Todd right? But Joker gets his teeth punched in and tattoos after he kills Jason Todd. But in the first fucking scene of Joker and Harley, Harley is just his shrink Harleen Quinnzel and but Joker already has all his ghetto nonsense.
How did she help if she hasn't become Quinn yet? |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Like goddam, they spent more than two years filming, writing and editing that fucking movie but it makes no sense and has so many pointless characters and plot. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | Never put that together, damn that's a huge oversight.
Also I was really disappointed that Scott Eastwood didn't play a undercover nightwing like was rumored. |
theacademy
12.02.16 | i would prefer to keep bvs conversation in potsy's list because i feel it is more true to the comics fans |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Lol, that one went to almost a thousand comments haha. It also wasn't just BvS we talked about there. |
zaruyache
12.02.16 | "Joker already has all his ghetto nonsense"
uhhhh I never caught that either. If that was all an oversight I suppose we'd have to chalk it up to Harley not being a trustworthy narrator, even in her own flashbacks. |
Devastator
12.02.16 | You know for all the flack people threw at Affleck for being cast as Batman he was the best part of that film and made the most of the garbage he was given. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Honestly, Joker was only in the movie to tie into Harley's pathetic backstory. That also disgusts me because honestly if DC wanted to do things right, they would've just made a Joker/Harley movie with Joker in Arkham, build the relationship, Harley turns, breaks Joker out, kills Robin and THEN they build the Suicide Squad.
Another thing that pisses me off (I've got fucking hundreds) is how many times they had to go out of their way to say Harley was crazy. Literally every time someone talks about her they go, "Harley? Oh she's crazy". Deadshot looks at her, "Girl you are crazy.". They look inside her folder, "This girl is crazy.". Jesus Fucking Christ do I really need to be told what a person is to define them or can I watch the fucking movie and think for myself that she is BAT SHIT (you like that pun?). She does nothing but show off her ass and say off the wall things. That is what they define as crazy. Fucking stupid. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Batfleck has been the best of BvS. I'm still irritated Bruce Wayne isn't a great detective. He goes into Lex's basement which is just this wonderful server room in plain site. So with no security whatsoever Bruce opens the door, walks inside and plugs in a USB. A waiter walks by and the best excuse he had was. "uh this isn't the bathroom" and leaves.
Then Catwoman swipes his USB and drives off to email him folders with JL members perfect logos. No seriously DC, this is brilliant. |
zaruyache
12.02.16 | hey it was better than that "fresh start" macguffin in DKR. Also you mixed up WW and Catwoman. |
Impervious
12.02.16 | Yeah I was poking a bit of fun at the random way to bring Wonder Woman into the plot. |
