| Songs To Walk To
In order to soothe the pain of the one hour plus trip between home and university each morning and afternoon, I listen to music on my handy iRiver (iPods are for hags). Here is a list of songs that receive more than a few plays on average. | 1 | In the Woods... I am your Flesh
So after listening to "HEart of the Ages" a trillion times for a review I wrote, I've no choice but to give "Omnio" more listens now. Didn't like it as much as "HEart" at first, but it's growing on me. One of Transeth's lines chills me: "No one to touch, no one to hold... I am alone..." | 2 | Isis The Beginning and the End
I can't get past this track on Oceanic. Straight after, you have the track "The Other", and I can not wait two whole minutes before I get the chance to headbang again. | 3 | Immortal Withstand the Fall of Time
Ah, what an awesome track. It's rather handy that each of Immortal's albums generally has its own flavour. I'm getting a classic heavy metal vibe on At the Heart of Winter, very riff driven stuff, assisted by Horgh's handy drumming. | 4 | 2pac All Bout U
This song makes me feel special - it's all about me after all S2. It's a shame I can't hook up some subwoofers to my earphones, because this song is bass heavy. | 5 | Children of Bodom Bed of Razors
1:56. Nuff said. | 6 | Roy Orbison She's a Mystery to Me
When all that metal begins to drive me nuts, I turn to the Big O. I've listened to "You Got It" to death now and now "She's a Mystery to Me" arises to take its mantle. I love myself some hardcore falsetto action. Some trivia: Bono and Edge co-wrote this song for Orbison. | 7 | Stargazer The 69th Maggot
Chugga chugga technical death metal. The opening vocal line is like nothing that I've encountered before (which isn't saying too much given my lack of death metal listens). Basically, it sounds like the singer is repeating the first word a couple of times, and combined with the clattering hi-hat, you have something that I can't describe well. | 8 | Sigh A Sunset Song
Fellow Sputnik reviewer and artistic advisor Meatplow's reaction to this song was that it sounded like a mashup between Cradle of Filth and David Bowie. I loled at the time, but probably shouldn't have, given that I haven't actually listened to Cradle of Filth before, haha. I love the funk break in the middle. | 9 | Slipknot People = Shit
Please don't hurt me, but I really like this song. Questionable title aside, the song is heaps catchy, the riffs are easy on the ear, Corey's vocal attack is blistering, it's varied enough not to be boring, the breakdown is breakilicious. If you're not a fan of the studio version (it's slightly flat and Joey's kick tone is sickening), give the Disasterpieces version a go. The live setting sparks it up, it amounts to a perfect opening on the dvd. | 10 | Arcturus Kinetic
Oh man, the outro rocks my jocks. Who could have thought that 'worm holes' could prove to be such an emotive item, haha? This song is made of win - I haven't encountered such a track that is 100% daring in a long time. | |

08.13.08 | 2 is fucking brilliant.
The rest I don't really know.. | ClearTheLane
08.13.08 | And btw Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is great, especially their debut album! Maybe the name sucks but you should see them live before you judge them.
"Unimportant band"... wtf?!

Please be patient enough to watch that video. | Jim
08.13.08 | ^^ i can't stand em man. baby 81 is one of the offensively boring things i've ever heard. | badtaste
08.13.08 | 'Unimportant' = lightweight trolling, had to thrown in some barbs. lol, believe it or not, I'd heard that song before... back in 2002. I'll check out their album on a rainy day. | ClearTheLane
08.13.08 | Yeah I don't like Baby 81 either, but B.R.M.C. rocks, seriously. That's clearly their best album. Well nowadays it's the only one I listen to, the other three don't come even close. | ClearTheLane
08.13.08 | Different strokes for different folks I guess. | Cuban Pete
08.13.08 | get a bicycle until you can afford a car? | badtaste
08.13.08 | Perhaps I should have mentioned a tram/bus somewhere. Walking to music makes more sense than catching public transport to music. Yeah. | BallsToTheWall
08.13.08 | All you need are Heelies. Shoes with wheels, what a great invention. I've been looking for a pair of size 11's. Good songs, especially In The Woods, Sigh, and Arcturus. I like Audrey Horne more than Immortal although I like his clean sining more than his frog croaking. Try some Agalloch or The Morningside if you haven't already. | jingledeath
08.13.08 | 5 is kick ass and kudos for puttin up 9, excellent song. | badtaste
08.14.08 | Man, those heelies make me cringe... especially when I see kids having the time of their lives in them. I shall investigate those bands, except for Agalloch. Only song from Ashes Against the Grain that I liked was "Not Unlike the Waves" |
