02.07.13 | Cool collection. I still need Born Villain and Eat Me Drink Me from Marilyn Manson. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | Don't get them. Disappointments. Atichrist, mechanical animals, and holy wood are great though. |

02.07.13 | Your least favorites are the best albums on the list, other than the obvious classics. Pretty Hate Machine, the Downward Spiral, and Lateralus are basically your only hope to obtaining musical salvation.
I'm going to put this bluntly: You have horrendous taste. Maybe if you listen to the Nine Inch Nails albums, then look at Nothing Records and check out some of the other artists on the label, you might manage to drag yourself out of the mainstream mire. But, after the comment you left on my list, I doubt you're capable. "I'll never buy an electronica album" Do you understand what an enormously sweeping prejudice that is? You shouldn't listen to any of the albums I suggested - you won't understand them. But, you'd probably like techno and jungle, basically anything hipster ravers listen to.
You listen to a little metalcore (which is generally a pretty piss poor genre), so maybe you'll manage to elevate to black and death metal. Maybe. I don't reserve much hope for you though. You seem pretty closed minded. |

02.07.13 | No I just don't like electronic music is all... |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | And my CDs are not mostly mainstream. All that said I'm sorry I offended you by saying I won't support electronic "music." I believe in musical integrity and great musicianship. Not a computer nerd with some music theory knowledge and some fancy music software. Sorry...

02.07.13 | You have the worst Manson albums over NIN... wtf

02.07.13 | You really need to get the Pretty hate machine remaster. |
geasoftime
02.07.13 | You're not an accomplished musician. You cannot link us to a band page that has received any critical acclaim. The fact that you believe electronic musicians have no talent showcases your ignorance. Tom Jenkinson is a better bassist than you will ever meet. But that's beside the point. You don't seem to comprehend that a computer is an instrument in exactly the same way that a guitar is.
There's no point in arguing with you, though, because you don't know what you're talking about. And you're obviously 16. You'll remember these opinions of yours someday and feel ashamed of yourself. |

I don't know that that is what he said or intended but Eno. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | The funny thing is I never said that. He's raging because I said I would not spend my money on an electronic album |
geasoftime
02.07.13 | I don't know if you realize that people can see you ratings, but we can. You gave the Great Malinko a 3. That means you think it's decent.
I'm from Boston. Do you see any positive ratings for Godsmack in my profile? No? You know why, mikedrumz? It's because Godsmack sucks. ICP also sucks, and you suck even worse by extension for supporting them. |
geasoftime
02.07.13 | "I believe in musical integrity and great musicianship. Not a computer nerd with some music theory knowledge and some fancy music software. Sorry..."
So, what was this intended to mean? You're just backpedalling because you're too stupid to press your opinion. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | You gave bush sixteen stone a 4.5... And it doesn't but they are big here so I rated the albums I've heard |

02.07.13 | Yeah, I really hope someone in Massachusetts starts a black metal band, so I can finally listen to that genre. Oh well. I've got Powerman 5000 in the meantime... |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | And I don't listen to icon, but they are n.ot THAT bad. some of their shit was funny back in the day. And they're original as hell |

02.07.13 | Lol @ geasoftime
All of what you said is a big fat .... no.
Pretty good list in my opinion, and no one's taste can "suck" lol. |

02.07.13 | (This came too late to be worthwhile)
I don't care about the subjectivity arguement. Marilyn Manson and ICP are objectively terrible. |

02.07.13 | Well, thanks for the analysis. |

02.07.13 | antichrist, holy wood, and mechanical animals were good. The rest of Manson, I agree, sucks... |

02.07.13 | "I believe in musical integrity and great musicianship. Not a computer nerd with some music theory knowledge and some fancy music software. Sorry..."
I kind of get what you're aiming at and in some cases I could even agree but that is maybe accurate of only part of the genre. The genre has a long standing history of plying their trade by performing in clubs not unlike a band. They get instant feed back of what works and what doesn't and if they fall they fall hard. You can easily find pics of electronic musicians like Aphex Twin, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk (to name a few) sweating over a board in front of a live audience. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | I'm not saying there is no skill or creativity. I just think its sad that that's where music is headed. I'm bias, of course, as I am a classically trained musician. But whatever. |

02.07.13 | can almost feel your jewel cases in my hands |

02.07.13 | Lol hell yeah. I hope CDs don't die out! |

02.07.13 | Oh yea, and icp is not black metal... They are a rap group |
Mookid
02.07.13 | yah |
ButteryBiscuitBass
02.07.13 | For a classically trained musician, you're overall taste is pretty poor mate. Where's the progressive rock? Which requires more talent than most of the artists on this list (although, I myself rate most of the bands on this list, I don't think they are amazing). I hopefully put it down to youthful exhuberance, but electronic music is very creative. Unbelievably so. Any classically trained musician would know that. It isn't just sampling. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | Lol isn't Justin beiber black metal? |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | Like what, Dream theater? Guys this is just my CD collection mind you. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
02.07.13 | No. King Crimson, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Camel, Gentle Giant, Can, Gryphon, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Yes, Maudlin of the Well to name a few.
Dream Theatre are shocking dude. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | And song writing is different than classical music. I relate more to this music. This is every day music. classical music is art music |
Trebor.
02.07.13 | modest mouse :) |
ButteryBiscuitBass
02.07.13 | Prog rock is art music mate. Seriously. I'm not arguing with you. I'm just saying don't write things off without exploring a mass chunk of the genre.
If you haven't listen to Discipline and In the Court of the Crimson King by king crimson, you'll appreciate it as 'art' music. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
02.07.13 | *art music you can relate too. |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | Mike Portney is sick. Your a bassist check out Alien ant farm and Jean baudin. Incredible... |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | I'll check it out, cabrone. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
02.07.13 | Mike Portnoy is sick. I'm actually a writer mate when filling my creative needs ;-) but I do love music and play guitar & bass.
Heard Alien Ant Farm...will check Jean Baudin on the basis you check King Crimson :-) |
mikedrumz
02.07.13 | Hell yeah they messing around with 5/4 time I dig it. And I have Jethro Tull and gentle giants on my mp3 |

02.07.13 | "I'm not saying there is no skill or creativity. I just think its sad that that's where music is headed. I'm bias, of course, as I am a classically trained musician. But whatever."
It isn't, I've heard people say that since the early 90's there will always be someone who will pick up a guitar or identify with banging on the drums. True Artistry will always out last the flash in the pan. You'll see further and further integration but that's about it. Hell I remember my buddies circa 92' hauling a computer to gigs to run samples for their industrial band. |
