Top Albums Of 1978
10Parliament
Motor Booty Affair
9 Rainbow
Long Live Rock n' Roll

The last Rainbow album to feature Dio is also their best.
8Talking Heads
More Songs About Buildings and Food

I wish I could get into these guys more, but they just don't seem to click, other than this album.
7Rush
Hemispheres

Other than the Trees which is a stupid song (Well the lyrics are, the song isn't too bad) this is awesome. La Villa Strangiato is one of their best.
6Sun Ra
Lanquidity

More of a fusion album which is a bit different from Sun Ra, this album is definitely among his best.
5Frank Zappa
Zappa in New York

Another live offering from Zappa, this one has a great set list. The best thing about his live albums is that no two are the same. The songs are always played differently (in some cases, drastically). This one is so exception.
4Dire Straits
Dire Straits

My favourite album of theirs, this one contains two of their biggest hits (Sultans of Swing has to be one of the coolest rock songs ever written).
3 The Police
Outlandos d'Amour

The Police were a fantastic group and their first album is stellar. Boasting such hits as So Lonely, Roxanne, and Can't Stand Losing You, the rest of the album is just as good.
2Judas Priest
Stained Class

Along with my favourite Sabbath album comes my favourite Priest album. This is one of the three Priest albums that is actually solid all the way through and doesn't suffer from the problem of 2 good songs and then a bunch of filler.
1 Black Sabbath
Never Say Die

My favourite Sabbath album, if you ever wanted to know where Jazz Metal came from, this would be one of the albums I'd point you to. It's too bad they switched over to a more traditional sound after this, it would have been awesome to see what kind of stuff they could have done.
