|Osmose Productions - coolest metal label ever.|
Osmose Productions was easily one of the coolest labels in the 90's (or ever) for extreme music. Most of their releases flew fairly low under the radar, but they had a few really prominent releases as well which I've scattered through this list - check out pretty much anything here, they signed many of the coolest and most intense bands around.
Kicking it off with the big one, and what I consider to be the best melodic death metal record ever. If you haven't heard this, stop whatever you're listening to and put this on, it's definitely better.
Osmose kicked off Opeth's career more or less by putting out their first full length, which is still one of my favorites from them.
At the Heart of Winter
A black metal classic, if you haven't heard this then I don't know what to tell you other than remedy that now.
|4||Order From Chaos|
This album is just vicious. One of the most raw, intense, grimy, angry blackened death metal records of all time.
The World Is So Good That Who Made It Doesn't Live
Rad black metal with unique vocals from El Salvador. Underrated and generally unknown by most.
Gods of War
The recording isn't the best, and to say it's unpolished would be a gross understatement, but that's what rules about this album. Pure fury and super menacing.
Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz
This album is goddamn evil, underrated record on here.
Rest in Peace
A "should be classic" of death metal.
Dawn of Dreams
This is a band everyone seems to always sleep on, don't. It's not their best record, but they're all cool.
Thy Mighty Contract
Another big time black metal outfit that Osmose kickstarted was Rotting Christ. Their first record here is just okay, like 3/5 probably, and often overshadowed by its successors, but it's still a good start to a cool bands career.
The best of Marduk's discography and handful of other decent albums from them was put out on Osmose. They're another black metal staple, if you haven't them, start here.
Another huge black metal put out the best of their early material through Osmose - this is essential listening for the black metal genre and helped pioneer "viking metal" which I think still a silly genre.
This record shredssssss, you should listen now. Some of the best black/thrash around.
We Are Death... Fukk You !
Some furiously paced blackened death metal that is largely unknown.
More rad black/thrash.
Vital Remains' second coolest record. Start with Dechristianize.
More sweet black/thrash stuff with NO ratings on here.
One of the best symphonic black metal records ever, super intense stuff that doesn't sound at all like Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth.
Some really dark, creepy death/black metal.
Possibly the most underrated death metal record ever, this is MEAN and has been one of my go-to death metal albums for the last decade or so.
One of the coolest Egyptian themed records in the metal sphere ever made. Almost every record in their discography rules, but this one is tied for the top spot in my opinion with Emissaries. They put out a new album this year worth listening to as well.
Subversives For Lucifer
A solid 3.5/5 unknown in the blackened/death metal realm.
Wrath of War
Sweet satanic black metal from Texas - had to add this one to the database. I remember getting this as a free CD in the mail when I used to work for a metal webzine back in high school...damn that was 13 years ago already?
V - Halmstad
One of the best black metal records of the the 2000's
Kaos Kommand 696
This album crushes skulls, one of the most intense black/death/thrash albums I know of and from Singapore of all places.
De Principii Evangelikum
Grindy black metal that feels super ominous the entire time.
|27||Axis of Advance|
If you haven't figured this out by now, Osmose puts out a lot of awesome black/thrash records. This is noe exception and in fact may one of the best on the label.
|28||Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition|
One of my favorite grindcore bands was on Osmose for this one record. The vocalist has some of the craziest guttural vocals ever.
In For The Kill
Another ridiculously good grind outfit that never got their due, Inhume fucking SLAY on this record. One of the meanest album ever, it will beat you up and take your lunch money.
And finally, a modern death metal masterpiece, this is a pure 5/5 record. You must hear this.
