Ranking Other People's 5s : Fearthyevil9
I do not claim to have listened to all of the albums I will rank, nor do I claim that I'm unbiased. This is purely self-indulgent. |
1 | | Rush Moving Pictures
No-brainer |
2 | | Isis Oceanic
Surprising to see someone with this and not Panopticon as a 5, but this album is perfect. |
3 | | Megadeth Rust In Peace
best of the big 4 |
4 | | Iron Maiden Powerslave
and thus ends our shared 5's |
5 | | Opeth Ghost Reveries
This and TSiB was a huge toss up, I find this one easier to just throw on. |
6 | | Neurosis Through Silver in Blood |
7 | | Tool Lateralus
Used to be a 5 for me, but it waned a but over time. |
8 | | Metallica Ride The Lightning
Would've picked Master of Puppets, but the choice is noble anyway |
9 | | The Ocean Precambrian
Superb freaking album, and it's the only time I've ever really been entertained by Kevin Spacey (meaning I don't remember that I've ever seen any of his movies... the sample is awesome) |
10 | | Death Symbolic
Whatever we do, wherever we go, someone has this as a 5 |
11 | | Deafheaven Sunbather
I remember buying this because if the kickass cover, good choice on my part |
12 | | Cult of Luna Somewhere Along the Highway
I think their best is between Salvation and Eternal Kingdom, but SAtH is definitely a great #3 |
13 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada |
14 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor F#A# (Infinity)
2 stellar albums, not quite 5's for me |
15 | | Black Sabbath Paranoid
I still haven't rated this myself, even though I've heard it a million times, it'll probably be a 4.5-5 |
16 | | Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet
Alex Lifeson's solo on "Anesthetize" alone makes it worthy of praise |
17 | | Amia Venera Landscape The Long Procession
The only music I've got from Italy |
18 | | Tool Aenima
This one's overrated to me at an average 4.4, but it's still kickass |
19 | | Rage Against The Machine Rage Against The Machine
I wonder if they could take Tom Morello's dignity back after his shit collaborations with Boots Riley and Bruce Springsteen |
20 | | Death Human
THIS BEGINS EVERYTHING I'VE NOT HEARD
This was the beginning of their best album covers, and apparently best albums as well |
21 | | Pig Destroyer Terrifyer
Best cover besides Phantom Limb |
22 | | Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
See my description on Lyzak's list |
23 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
Love Chino's work in Palms, and Minerva is nostalgic for me, but that song isn't on this so, #23. |
24 | | Down NOLA
Never heard anything from these guys, but I love Pantera so I'll root for Anselmo |
25 | | Botch We Are The Romans
Never heard Botch either, but they were on Hydra Head. thumbs up for that. |
26 | | Alice In Chains Dirt
This band isn't offensive to me in any way, but they just don't stand out for me, even with some really good songs under their belt. |
27 | | Between The Buried And Me Colors
UNTIL #40 NO DESCRIPTIONS OR TRUE ORDER B/C I REALLY HAVE NO OPINION ON THESE BANDS |
28 | | Chevelle Wonder What's Next |
29 | | Elliot Smith Either/Or |
30 | | Every Time I Die New Junk Aesthetic |
31 | | Glassjaw Worship and Tribute |
32 | | Massive Attack Mezzanine |
33 | | Misery Signals Controller |
34 | | Poison the Well The Opposite of December |
35 | | Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us |
36 | | Refused The Shape of Punk to Come |
37 | | System of a Down System of a Down |
38 | | The Dillinger Esape Plan Calculating Infinity |
39 | | Training for Utopia Plastic Soul Impalement |
40 | | Ulcerate Everything is Fire |
41 | | Converge Jane Doe
I will never be able to understand this album's success or this band being so highly lauded by so many. |
