Progday Discovery M7

Veterans of prog Peter Banks and Tony Kaye from Yes, as well as Fred Frith from Henry Cow, take a break from their typical, po-faced prog for some "fun", "playful" and "weird" music.

"I actually reviewed this album on Sputnik this past February. Flash is an offshoot of Yes. Original Yes guitarist Peter Banks was one of the band's co-founders, and Yes keyboard player Tony Kaye was the keyboard player on this first album. At the time this first album came out, it was very well received, to the point where there was debate between music fans as to whether the spin-off might be better than the original. The band has a playful quality about them. They have a solid vocalist in Colin Carter, and a good bass player in Ray Bennett. Kaye and Banks are as good as you'd expect. I've always particularly liked "Children of the Universe.'" - Divaman

"This album is an obscure progressive bit from some seriously weird musicians. It is apparent right away when putting on this album that those who created it truly have great musical minds. Despite that, the weirdness of the album may take a few listens to become palatable, but the songwriting is strong enough to keep you coming back for more. It's a witty and fun listen that grows every time." - bgillesp
