Friday13th 01.07.15	It would be a stretch to call any King's X album prog...but 3 is much more hard rock. Very good album, but I couldn't vote for it over 4 even if I did like it better.
Jethro42 01.07.15	Out of what I've heard to date, I prefer ''Far East Family Band'' that I'd label space rock with psych and electronic leanings. There is something meditative within their music that brings me a peaceful state of mind. ''Pinnick Gales and Pridgen'' is a (...prog??) nice bluesy hard rock band a la King's X but harsher, around a talented drummer I don't really like the style, cos he tries too hard to impress, instead of focusing on the beat. I had the same thoughts about him when he played for The Mars Volta. ''Finch'' features a nice bunch of skillful musicians, but I find their music too dense. Too many notes. More than the client requests. I have to relisten to see if my vision of them could change. And I don't know what to think about Land of Kush yet. I have not finished to listen to that album.

Onirium 01.08.15	I had heard about Land of Kush before, but now I really can say I should have jammed their stuff way earlier. Some wonderfully executed and brilliant prog-tinted space rock on there; the underground Montreal scene doesn't disappoint. Far East Family Band will really have to rule.

SCREAM! 01.08.15	Yeah it's a tough call between those two. Land of Kush's good parts are better than Far East Family but FEF is more consistent throughout whereas LoK has some bad moments here and there
Jethro42 01.08.15	Totally agree. I really need to relisten to these two. FEF is more meditative (New Age tendencies) whereas LoK is more an exotic, experimental and extrovert piece of work. Tracks 2 and 3 are the tits.

Jethro42 01.10.15	Agreed with you Friday about the sound of 1. And for 2, it's so repetitive that when you hear any of its segment, you heard them all. Well ok, there are some good ideas here and there such as great vocal harmonies, but it doesn't last long enough, and or it's not quite developed.

Onirium 01.10.15	Both 1 and 2 contain some extremely interesting ideas, but the consistency of those ideas is greater in 1, which is much less repetitve in my opinion. So yeah, I'm voting for Land of Kush for the first match. As for the second match, Flinch definitely gets my vote. Although well-grounded in some prog clichés and sounding a bit like a hardly digestible soup of notes at times, it was very well executed and had its moments. Pinnick, Gales & Pridgen was enjoyable, but just not my kind of thing.

But one song cannot save the uneven and demanding album that is Land of Kush.
