Classical Digs

Some classical stuff I like. Selection is a bit nooby to someone who is really rreally into classical but wth. Would be interested to hear what your rfavourite classical piece is and why just for some inspiration.
1 Schubert
Death and the Maiden

love this long time, so dramatic
2 Beethoven
String Quartet no 15

long middle section totally sublime
3 Bach
Sonatas & Partitas for solo violin

no.21 wtf blows me away always always
4 Handel
12 Concerto grossi op 6

never tire of this lot
5 Monteverdi
Vespro della Beata Vergine

first 3 movements are awesome, guys singing this stuff must have bionic larynxes,
beautiful polyphonic harmonies
6Arvo Part
Tabula Rasa

love this guys music
7 Brahms
Piano Concerto No.1

8 Vivaldi
L'estro Armonico

Vivaldi probably sneered at as being 'pop' music but I don't care the guy was a
riffmeister and I like riffs (classical nub alert)
9 Dvorak
String Quartet 12 'American'

gorgeous melodies, easy pentatonic stuff, always wondered how much this influenced
the music you hear in early western movies
10 Wagner

inspires my awe but can't stop thinking of Excalibur when the funeral march comes
