| Generic "look What I Bought Recently" List
Yeah, another one. | 1 | | The Suicide Machines Steal This Record
A nice blend of their poppy stuff (I also bought the self-titled, too poppy...), and the more hardcore material. Probably my favourite SM album in all honesty... | 2 | | Dredg El Cielo
Kage's review persuaded me to check these guys out, and after a quick listen to the songs on their myspace, I bought this and.... | 3 | | Dredg Catch Without Arms
...this! Not sure which one I like best yet, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how "Stationary Transient," "Uplifting News", and especially "Stone by Stone" didn't make it onto this album! Loving both albums though, I need to get Leitmotif ASAP!!! | 4 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan Miss Machine
Way more melodic than I was expecting, and all the better for it (not that I dislike the heavy parts). Another one of those albums I've put off buying for ages, and now regret doing so - I'll be picking up Calculating Infinity soon too! | 5 | | The Night Marchers See You In Magic
Like the soundtrack to the (slightly) chilled-out afterparty of a Rocket From The Crypt gig, John Reis' new band is fookin' awesome! | 6 | | Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Your Funeral... My Trial
One of his earlier, darker, creepier ones. I've not given it many listens yet (one of those I'd have to be in the right mood for), but I'm kinda liking it so far. | 7 | | Russian Circles Enter
Another one I've wanted for quite a while now (since I first heard "New Macabre" back in 2006), and only recently got around to buying. Some of the lighter end of post-metal that I've heard so far, but definitely a great album. The more post-metal I hear, the more I fucking love it... | 8 | | Mogwai Young Team
Bought the new reissue of this, after having the original recommended to me a year or so ago - after all the post-metal I've been listening to, mere post-ROCK sounds positively weak in comparison - but somehow, I fucking love it. An unbelievably beautiful sounding and emotional album. | 9 | | Johnny Truant No Tears for the Creatures
After about a week of listening, I'd place it as their second best album, after "In the Library..." and in front of "...Repercussions..." There's a bigger hardcore influence this time, especially in the vocals, but it's also much heavier. Not quite as unique as their older stuff, but much more focussed songwriting. I like. | 10 | | Devin Townsend Infinity
FUTURE PURCHASE: Having bought "Ocean Machine Biomech" and absolutely loving it, especially the poppier tracks like "Life," I figured I'd go for this album next, as I've heard its Devin's poppiest work. | |
