Q1 Twenty-6-Teen
Haven't listened to so many new albums this early in years. |
1 | | Submotion Orchestra Colour Theory
Dub/Electronic/Ambient- not as bad as people would say, they just set the bar extremely high with their first release. |
2 | | Mandroid Echostar Coral Throne
Prog/Metal- if coheed and cambria played prog metal |
3 | | Panic! At the Disco Death of a Bachelor
idc this is catchy as hell |
4 | | TOOTHGRINDER Nocturnal Masquerade
Metalz- if the new killswitch playing the same thing for the umpteeth time wasn't for you try this instead. that being said I was mildly disappointed in this. |
5 | | Cross Record Wabi-Sabi
Post-Rock- really cool expansive post rock that feels like it was recorded on a ranch in texas. the drummer from the swans helps out here too. |
6 | | Dronny Darko Neuroplasticity
Drone/Electronic- every single time I've listened to drone I've hated it but this... |
7 | | LION BABE Begin
Pop- naming yourself after your hair is silly but this album has some tunes |
8 | | Nevermen Nevermen
Rock/Rap/Pop- that mike patton/ tunde adebimpe collab no one talked about here. |
9 | | GoGo Penguin Man Made Object
Piano Jazz/Rock- very pleasant listening |
10 | | Lobby Boxer Big Bucks
Emo/ Rock- might be my AOTY right now, this trio has made some great stuff here |
11 | | Jazz Cartier Hotel Paranoia
Trap Rap- dogshit |
12 | | Kanye West The Life of Pablo
Rap- didn't like this very much |
13 | | Signor Benedick the Moor Maiden Voyage Suite
Rap/Prog- interesting little rap EP from a frequent collab of hellfyre club folk |
14 | | The Black Queen Fever Daydream
Electronic/ Dark ambient- DEP singers side project. good stuff good stuff |
15 | | After the Burial Dig Deep
Metalz- good for workout jams, some great riffz |
16 | | Lushlife & CSLSX Ritualize
Rap- no description just listen to this it's great |
17 | | Hands Like Houses Dissonants
Rock/ Post Hardcore barely- I liked the first album but this is bland as bran flakes |
18 | | Kendrick Lamar untitled unmastered.
Rap- B-sides brought on cuz lebron asked for it. bought the vinyl cuz i feel like it'll be worth something later. |
19 | | Obsidian Kingdom A Year With No Summer
Post-Punk/ Metal- not sure why i like this especially considering how tame it sounds compared to mantiis but this is great stuff |
20 | | Future EVOL
trap-rap- dogshit x2 |
21 | | Currensy The Carrollton Heist
rap- not quite dogshit but mushmouth rapping is just terrible. the beats are nice though |
22 | | Denzel Curry Imperial
Rap (Trap I guess?)- now this, this shit bangz like nothing i've heard since R.A.P. Music. 3 way tie for AOTY right now |
23 | | Killswitch Engage Incarnate
Metalz- read the soundoffs and how 90% of them say something along the lines off " well, it's killswitch being killswitch" |
24 | | Into It. Over It. Standards
Indie Rock/ Emo- people threw around the word "hard working" when talking about this guy like he's the only one who works hard but despite that, this album is quite well done, both emotively and musically |
25 | | Colin Stetson Sorrow - Reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony
classical- never heard the original but this sounded nice to my ears |
26 | | Explosions in the Sky The Wilderness
Post-Rock- actually an engaging listen, very surprised after all the soundtrack work this band has been doing |
27 | | Save Us From The Archon L'Eclisse
Post Hardcore/ Punk/ Prog- band with a very original sound that due to it's sheer relentlessness, starts sounding a little samey. still great shit here though |
28 | | Iglooghost Little Grids
IDM- love this producer now since chinese nu year, this is just another little taste and it rules |
29 | | Bibio A Mineral Love
Ambient/ Hazy- this guys thing is nostalgia and while his last album made me feel summer like no album ever has, this album made me feel like I was forgetting memories I never had, and then the dancey numbers come in and ruin it. still a good album though. I wanted to review if reviewing wasn't such a chore. |
30 | | Vespero Lique Mekwas
Psych/ Prog/ Space Rock- 3rd of the three way tie for AOTY, this Russian band, one year removed from their last album come back with an african theme and without getting cheesy, completely nail it in this 70 minute epic |
31 | | Open Mike Eagle Hella Personal Film Festival
rap/ experimental- he's doing the macklemore thing where he puts the producers name with his but this is still an open mike eagle LP, I did not like this at first listen but grew to appreciate it over the course of a few. rap with no agenda, just quaint observations |
