09.20.19 | If you're into classics like this, I can't recommend Crime and Punishment highly enough. I read it earlier this year and was blown away at just how well that plot holds up. A few scenes reminded me of watching a Tarantino film with how tense and nuanced they get.
I've been reading a bunch of other stuff this year, not classics though. Hyperion is probably the best of them. It's scifi but the stories it tells are so vivid and powerful that it's a shock it's never been adapted on screen before. Dan Simmons (the author) is a bit of a nut now, but his writing in Hyperion is definitely the best prose I've ever read as well. |
