doesnt matter because its still wrong. the mantle has some of the most easily recognizable black metal influences in their discography. |

09.01.14 | it still doesn't center around the black metal sound pretty much at all, and it's easily their most musically diverse album so it's obvious that the black metal influences are there but i wouldn't consider it as a black metal album

Those are the only two Agalloch records I've jammed but going from the latter to the former, I was definitely feeling like the black metal was pretty absent personally. Artuma does have a point. |

09.01.14 | i dont mean to be this adversarial, but this gets brought up every single time agalloch is put on a black metal list and its always the same tired, banal argument every single time. it always boils down to "well, there are some slow parts, and some folk tunes, so i guess its obviously not black metal" which has never made any sense.
youre time would be better spent trying to find the people who tagged it as "progressive metal", because thats a far worse offense than anyone of us have committed. |
