How to become a pile of crap in 40 easy minutes!

Fuck, guys. Do you ever take a nap in the afternoon and then when you wake up it's like you're three feet deep in a swamp of fog and guilt? Naps are the bane of my existence, but I have been having trouble sleeping lately and I needed to play a little catch up today. Fuck naps. What better way is there to feel productive than to spend an hour making a list on Sputnik??? List is albums I've been listening to lately with little blurbs and favorite tracks.
1Me And That Man
Songs of Love and Death

This fucking rules. Negral doesn't re-invent the wheel but this dark blend of country is the shit. Ain't Much Loving is so Nick Cave-y.
2Wild Beasts
Present Tense

Art-rock shit I never thought I would be into but these guys have a few really solid albums. I think this one is my favorite. Mecca, Palace, Wanderlust, Pregnant Pause, the list goes on.
3Graf Orlock
Crime Traveler

Saw these guys open for HORSE. Definitely better live than on CD, but I've been digging a few tracks from this. See: A Decent Proposal in a Shitty Alley. There is also a funny DOOM skit about space marines as well.
4Infinity Shred
Long Distance

The guys also opened for HORSE and I was surprised how much I liked them. Self-described 'sad EDM', this album is 100 times better than their debut. Tragic Lagger, Motiv and Monolith are my jam.
5Manuel Trillo
June

Sputnik user album that is just gorgeous. Wrote a sound off about it last night. I really like An Old Fire, A New Fire, Aging, Ink, June, and City of Ghosts. Bravo, Dewinged.
6Manchester Orchestra
I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child

I've got this on vinyl so I have a hard time not playing it when I've got the turntable spinning. I could go on and on about the track list, but I won't.
7In Flames
The Jester Race

Speaking of vinyl, my girlfriend picked this up a couple months back insisting In Flames hasn't always been terrible. I'd heard that here and didn't believe it. What a mistake. Closer is probably my favorite.
8mewithoutYou
Ten Stories

My most recent 5, I think. This took years to grow on me, but I'd say it's right behind Brother, Sister as my favorite mwY album. Favorite tracks are Feb 1878, Cardiff Giant, Aubergine, Fox's Dream of the Log Flume, Nine Stories, Bear's Vision of St. Agnes.
9Alcest
Shelter

Funny how the most calm and beauty album from Alcest is the one people fight over the most lol. I'm all about Voix Sereines. So god damn good.
10I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business
I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business

Dug this 2004 release out on Spotify randomly the other day. I'm sure if you're a fan of The Early November you'll know that this is Ace Enders' first(?) solo(?) release. It's a bit front-loaded but there are some really good songs here. The song titles are dumb and I can't remember which songs are which.
11BOBBY
BOBBY

This kept getting bumped by Conmaniac and Boney the other day. I have no idea what it is or if i like it, but at least the opener was cool.
12Murder by Death
In Bocca Al Lupo

One of my favorite albums by one of my favorite bands. Whiskey, ghost towns, crime, death and whiskey. Some guy tried to sell this to me on vinyl back in '07 ad I didn't have a turntable so I didn't buy it. What a fucking idiot I was. Can't go wrong with Brother, Dynamite Mine, The Big Sleep, Shiola.
13Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
No More Shall We Part

This one never clicked with me before, but I've been getting into it lately- really listening to lots of Cave because I had been reading one of his novels (which was awesome, btw).
Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow has become a favorite Cave song for me (seriously, check the music video), but As I Sat Sadly by Her Side is great too.
14Pinegrove
Cardinal

Another thread bumped a lot recently by Boney and Con. Album is pretty awesome, very easy to listen to in any mood. Old Friends, New Friends, Aphasia, Size of the Moon and Visiting are my favorite.
15Full of Hell
Roots Of Earth Are Consuming My Home

Figured I'd finally check these guys out since they are releasing a new album. This is the only one I've listened to and it was just pretty good. Honestly don't know any of the track names. I had this playing while I did dishes the other night.
16Ion Dissonance
Breathing Is Irrelevant

Fuck you guys and fuck me too for not making me listen to this. This name had been thrown around a lot because of the types of metal I've been into over the years and instead of listening to the first, I heard Minus the Herd, found it very meh and never checked them out again. This rips.
Starts good, ends better. The run from Dath of One Man Is a tragedy, The Death of 10,000 Is a Statistic on is just pure mayhem. Equal parts Calculating Infinity War From a Harlot's Mouth and Tony Danza? I don't know. Listen to this if you haven't.
17mansionz
Mansionz

lol was this a betray rec? It is fucking awful but it made me laugh a lot. STFU was pretty good. I guess these two guys wrote a hit for Justin Beiber back in the day (seriously) and decided to write their own parody songs to farce the pop music industry.
18Vildhjarta
Masstaden

Someone called Harvey Djent, we're about to melt off half of your face. Hadn't heard this in a bit. Favorites are Dagger, When No One Walks With You, All These Feelings and Deceit.
19Arsonists Get All the Girls
Portals

Spotify likes to play this album to me a lot for some reason. Not my favorite AGATG, but still good. Violence In Fluid: Triceratops is like if BTABM didn't take themselves so seriously and actually put out a good song after Colors. Fight me.
20The Killers
Hot Fuss

Had a nostalgic itch to scratch. the first half of this is way better than the second.
Smile Like You Mean It is my favorite.
21Rufio
Perhaps, I Suppose...

See above description. Loved these guys in junior high or whatever.
Above Me and Selfishness were always my favorite.
22Converge
Jane Doe

Come on. You guys know why I listened to this. Classic album.
Concubine, Homewrecker, Phoenix in Flight, Phoenix in Flames, Jane fucking Doe m/ m/ m/
23Foxing
The Albatross

Eeeeemooooooo. Seeing these guys open for mwY made me like them even more.
Love Bloodhound, Inuit, The Medic, Rory, Bit By Dead Bee I& II, Den Mother, Quietus.
24Thantifaxath
Sacred White Noise

One of my favorite metal releases of 2014 and I was able to get it on vinyl for like $12 or some shit through Dark Descent.. For some reason the first song rubs me wrong. The riff is cool and unconventional but almost gives me anxiety to listen to it, idk. The rest, however, is great- especially Where I End and the Hemlock Begins.
25Khemmis
Hunted

Mark this down as an album I never thought I'd enjoy. I always forget who rec'd this to me, but it was a user here. Three Gates fucking rules and has them harsh vox I need to make this more interesting.
26HORSE the band
Desperate Living

1! 2! 3! H the B!!! You may have seen me and cliiiint and MeatSalad (among others) bumping this thread repeatedly over the last 2 months or so, sorry 'bout it. There's good reason, they are touring right now and we (sans Mr. Salad) we able to catch their show. It ruled. New song ruled. Apparently no real plans for new material though.
Favorite songs: Cloud Walker,The Failure of All Things, HORSE the Song, Desperate Living, Big Business, Rape Escape (check that classic piano piece that shouldn't work with a breakdown but does) and Arrive.
27Old Man's Child
The Pagan Prosperity

I told my girlfriend I asked sput for dm recs because she didn't listen to any and then she made me put this on and I felt a tiny amount of shame. I don't know any of the track names, but this album and the one after it are pretty sweet.
28Federale
All The Colours Of The Dark

Thank the heavens for A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night- without that movie and its soundtrack my sorry ass probably wouldn't know who these guys are. Think Morricone-y Spaghetti Western stuff but modern with vocals and with a darker flair.
Digging the title track, Almeria, I Swear I'd Never Kill, Ain't Gonna Run.... well that's the first 4 songs in a row right there so it's safe to say I like all of this.
29Ne Obliviscaris
Portal of I

Man, I was that annoying user on her that kept saying how much more refined and how better Citadel was than this for at least a year. I'm eating my words. This shit is amazing.
I love the whole thing, but my favorites are probably Of the Leper Butterflies and And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope right now.
30Glass Casket
We Are Gathered Here Today...

Yeah, buddy, she's a ripper. Had a dream I was at my own funeral while I took a nap and thought of this.
Pencil Lead Syringe, In Between the Sheets!!!!!!
