Kingdok's 2020
what a shit year, good f#@kin' riddance. Didn't listen to a huge variety of albums, but still heard some nice stuff. |
1 | | Enter Shikari Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible
Got massively back into these guys during the early pandemic, perfectly coinciding with this. Became my sound of lockdown, feels like it redefines the band and does it really well.
Marionettes (I & II) |
2 | | Raging Speedhorn Hard To Kill
More streamlined and straight forward than Lost Ritual, but their sound has developed superbly well with a new co-vocalist. Ultimately it's their most fun album since the near-classic We Will Be Dead Tomorrow
Doom Machine |
3 | | Celebrity Sex Scandal The Fundamental
A real surprise, massively ups the ante from their first two albums. Fantastically weird shit with horns.
A Jaundiced Eye |
4 | | Tallah Matriphagy
Another slow burner, this one is still growing on me
L.E.D. |
5 | | Dark Tranquillity Moment
Took a few listens before it started to take a hold, but the same can be said of all DT albums. Still love keyboard driven melodeath.
Ego Deception |
6 | | Deftones Ohms
Loved this initially, but it faded over time with the hooks not really sinking in so much.
Urantia |
7 | | Spanish Love Songs Brave Faces Everyone
Not as impactful musically as Schmaltz, but the lyrics are destructive.
Routine Pain |
8 | | The Avalanches We Will Always Love You
Simple, beautiful, melancholic.
Feels like an hour long track. |
9 | | Pup This Place Sucks Ass
A nice treat when it came out, but kinda feels a bit like a collection of (pretty decent) B-sides.
Anaphylaxis |
10 | | Code Orange Underneath
Seems a fairly divisive album. I like what it does, but it can feel a little samey.
Swallowing the Rabbit Whole |
