| 2008 Disappointments
Disappointing albums in 2008 by bands that I (used to) listen to pretty heavily. No particular order. | | 1 |  | Thrice
The Alchemy Index Vols. III and IV...
While Fire/Water were quite possibly the coolest things Thrice have done, Air and Earth were huge letdowns for me. Air is the most predictable and therefore boring album I have heard in a while. Earth, like Water, is respectable in its genre exploration, however unlike the former, it fails, leaving an equally as boring companion piece to Air. | | 2 |  | These Arms Are Snakes
Tail Swallower And Dove
Easter saw TAAS taking the catchy/heavy formula they had perfected on Oxeneers and adding an element of technicality. Tail Swallower & Dove erases any forward strides by successfully managing to cop multiple riffs from Easter yet make the songs as a whole boring and uninspired. | | 3 |  | Daitro / Sed Non Satiata

Untitled
There are a couple good tracks ("Breathe," "N.I.G.G.E.R.," "Hero") but overall, I thought it was weak compared to Hip Hop Is Dead. I will admit it has grown on me and perhaps it still will but come on, "Fried Chicken" is way lame and "Sly Fox" is terrible. | | 7 |  | Animal Collective
Water Curses EP
I debated putting this on the list for a while. I think it's an awesome EP but I was expecting something a little more Strawberry Jam-esque. But considering the monumental pedestal on which Strawberry Jam rests for me, anything was bound to be a disappointment. | |

12.18.08 | wow, I really thought I was the only one who thought the Thrice album was a huge disappointment, cool to see people who agree. I've yet to find someone who's with me on the SNS/Daitro thing though, but I don't know, it just didn't move me like Le Ciel... did. But I mean, Le Ciel is one of my favorite emo albums ever so maybe I'm holding it to an unfair standard. Willfellmarsy, you would probably still dig Water Curses but considering they said a few of the tracks were essentially SJ outtakes, I expected something a bit more like that album.
