Bwp And Controller

Blackwater Park

First off, both Karl and Mikael have similar vocals. Both of them have very deep, low
harsh's and they both have chillingly angelic cleans. Their harsh's are not very similar
in style as Mikael does growls and Karl just has a very low, guttural scream, but
similar nonetheless.

Both bands make heavy use of dynamic shifts, which is something that isn't too
common anymore. The shifts, which Opeth use's a bit more as their songs are much
longer, really add a lot to their songs and make them quite unique from their
Blackwater Park

Both bands, in comparison to their contemporaries, make heavy use of acoustic
guitars. Opeth a bit more so, but MS also use them to great effect. It's something
thats very fresh and adds a lot.

Both bands are metal bands, MS being metalcore with a bit of a proggy tendency and
Opeth being extremely progressive death metal(for BwP, anyway) and yet, when you
take their music, especially MS's, and have just the instrumentals, you could probably
get away with not calling it metal. Both bands make music that is seemingly too
beautiful to be metal. While still both bands are very much metal bands, there is an
aspect to both albums that is anything but metal.
Blackwater Park

Both BwP and Controller are similar in production. BwP being produced by Steve
Wilson and Controller being done by Devin Townsend, both of which are musical
genius' and very skilled producers. Also, to my ears at least, the production of both
albums is similar, both having a very crisp, slightly metallic sound with very audible
bass and the vocals and acoustics both standout well.
6Misery Signals

Lastly, both Controller and BwP have a very similar color pallet on their covers.
