I remember hearing "Out of Exile" and trying to do the air guitar the solo (even though it's not how a typical guitar solo is) every time I heard it on the radio. hahaha I listened to the radio non-stop to figure out what song and artist it was by. Then, somehow I ended up with this album and the rest is history. |

I remember rushing home so excited, but knowing it swears throughout the cd. I popped it in my radio/cassette/cd player blasting it until a swearing part would come on then I rapidly turned it down. It's no wonder my parents caught me with it and took it away hahahaha |

I can thank Guitar Hero II for this one. hahaha This started a stream of metalcore bands once I could get into something besides this band and Shadows Fall. I was lucky enough to be able to meet them at the first ever Mayhem Fest. That was one sick lineup, but I never appreciated it until now. Now I kick myself repeatedly for skipping Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Job For A Cowboy, Whitechapel, and Behemoth. A lot of the bands I saw that day I grew to love throughout high school. |

This album made me realize what truly good metalcore sounds like that wasn't All That Remains. I remember passing this cd around to all of my friends in high school who all loved it. |

One day I remember laughing at my good friend Evan because he said he liked Paramore. Funny thing is Paramore ended up becoming one of my favorite bands in recent years. This is their break to success and while I think "All That We Know Is Falling" is a superior album, this album really broke me into the genre of pop-punk along with All Time Low and New Found Glory. |

I also got this album for Christmas the year before. I think I wanted "Messengers," but this album is awesome. It contains some classics like the epic "The Seventh Trumpet" and "Speech Impediment." I haven't listened to this album in a long time, but at the time I absolutely loved it. |

After getting all of the Hammerfall albums I could scrounge together from my local library I found this one that completed my collection of sadly, only three other Hammerfall albums I could get. Although I do not like live albums that much, this one rocks and I have a distinct memory of begging my mom to let me play this album on the way home from the library and then asking what language the commentary is. It's Swedish, DUH. |

Either way, back in the day I thought I was hot shit for listening to THE "Suicide Silence" walking around the school halls with my skull adorned t-shirt. At least the cover is cool. Don't get me wrong, I love Brian Johnson, he is about the only guy I could ever see replace him, but there is just something listening to "It's A Long Way to the Top" or "Rock N' Roll Singer" with Bon Scott that is special. |

For whatever reason I was bored at the library one time and picked this album up. Evisceration Plague was my first taste into death metal that I actually liked at the time. I distinctly remember listening to "Shatter Their Bones" or "Evidence in the Furnace." I am glad I got to meet the band this year. That was one of the greatest experiences of my life since they have grown into one of my all time favorite bands. |

No idea how I even got into Pathology. I think I might have been watching a Canifex video and "Code Injection" played. The album isn't all that outstanding, but it is a solid listen every now and then. Opened me up briefly to slam. The riff midway through "Abduction" still gets me every time. |

Some people even say this album sucks, but I completely disagree with them to this day. There isn't really too much to say about this album besides it is really pissed off, solid new metal. I even auditioned with "Halo" on bass guitar for a music scholarship in college. |

Ahh, yes. This album. A fan favorite for so many reasons. What most people don't realize was how groundbreaking this album was at the time. It was so frickin' fast it was unbelievable. Even though from late 2009 and until this time I was pretty much a scene kid, I found a way to like a majority of this album and it grew on me rapidly so that I think it is my favorite Slayer album now (even though I still have to listen to a couple classic ones like "Hell Awaits"). |

This is my favorite emo/post hardcore/whatever you wanna call it besides "screamo" album. The guitars are amazing and the songs are really catchy and just overall awesome. A must listen for fans of this genre. |

Oli's inhales and exhales are very strong on this album and the breakdowns are relentless. Shockingly enough, there are even solos on this album. My love for this band went on and off throughout my high school years. |

He can do it all: soaring choruses, hard rock voice, and wicked screams. Next to "The End of Heartache" I think this is their best album. I listened to this album non-stop purely just to hear Jesse Leech's voice. I am beyond happy that he re-joined the band. This album really propelled metalcore to what it is today. |

The leads are extremely melodic and was a gigantic step up from "Carnal Repercussions" and "Ares." It has grown on me and makes me feel proud of my city every time I bump it rollin' around town. |

It was punk with balls, and they showed it when I saw them and ultimately talked to the bass player. This album really solidified a ground for my punk love to start. He ruined his voice! blah blah blah blah blah." Get over it, Oli CHANGED his vocal technique, he DID NOT ruin his voice. He does the old stuff even better than before (because he now exhales it even the lows) now. Everyone just tries to find a way to hate him when half the kids probably can't even do a simple fry scream. Get over yourself. Ok, my rant is over. Once I got over the vocal change my love for this album exploded. The songs are so heartfelt and I love how they combined post rock with metalcore and hardcore so tastefully. |

During the course of the summer I began to listen to more death and black metal and this album shows it. It's not full on death metal, but the guitars weave back in forth around the screeching vocals of Peter Tagtgren of Hypocrisy. I think this is the only one without the vocalist from Opeth on an album, but I love this album so much. I really should listen to it again... |

This album kicked me in the balls - literally. The production on this album is so massive it is almost overwhelming. I first decided to pick up this album after hearing about it in a book called "The 100 Best and Absolute Greatest Heavy Metal Albums in the World. Ever." I don't think without this book that I would have been able to crawl out of my inner scenedom and reclaim my metalhead ways. I find it almost impossible to not listen to at least the first three tracks whenever I play this album. The interesting thing is shortly after I bought this album I had just gotten brand new speakers in my car; and boy did this album really make them bump - especially with the bass all the way up. \m/ From the opening Egyptian-esque guitar intro my life was irrevocably changed forever. |

So much controversy surrounded such an amazing album. My first taste into the hay-day of black metal transported me into another world. I remember buying this at a record exchange upon seeing the clerk with a Behemoth shirt he helped show me some quality death and black metal release. One name I remember is Windir who is pretty darn good if you ask me. Some day I will own the original release on vinyl. This remains in my top ten of black metal albums |

It has some awesome songs on it (the first two obviously), but I prefer to listen to "Butchered At Birth" or "The Bleeding" instead of this one. Probably because I played the hell out of this thing once I got it with the Mayhem cd. hahaha |

I will not lie, when I first heard this album after reading so much praise about it on here I thought it was complete trash. But, i wanted to see what all the hype was about so I continued to listen to it. Once I got to the title track, it all made sense. Jane Doe is unlike any other cd I heard then and now. The cd just bleeds raw emotion. You can feel it deep in your bones. The music portrays it excellently and Jacob Bannon's vocals just sound like a banshee screaming of its eternal pain in hell. Easily in my top 5 albums of all time. |

I remember listening to it thinking it was going to suck and actually making it through the whole cd and replaying it at least partially through once more. Ronnie James Dio really did have one of the best voices in metal. A true metal god among men. |

You either love or hate King Diamond's vocals. I, on the other hand did both in my life time. I learned through hate to love his vocal style. This happened on one brisk night I was driving home early in the morning and this album's true majesty really hit me. One of the darkest and most satanically true/evil albums ever. It just sounds like if you play this album at the witching hour something will rise out of your floorboards. |

Once I got the original cd from my local record store I was entranced by the organized chaos on this cd. The first track being really sludgy and dragging also really intrigued me. It helped the rest of the album really slap me in the face. |

As soon as I heard "You've Seen the Butcher" I was hooked and I ended up buying this album on limited edition white vinyl. My love for Deftones has grown ever since although I still have yet to listen to "White Pony" all the way through. |

I am rather bad at listening to some bands' landmark albums, but out of the four I found at the library (this, Ghost Reveries, Heritage, and their live album The Roundhouse Tapes) I like this one the best. It's just a really chill and technically complex album. Blackwater Park, Orchid, Still Life, Morningrise, and My Arms Your Hearse are soon to follow. |

My God this album is ridiculous. I cannot imagine being in a band this crazy and being expected to play these songs live. Some of these songs are so technically complex and fast that I can barely understand what is going on. These guys rock, plain and simple. |

The heaviest album of all time. Anyone who opposes it will be steam rolled by the slam in "Liege of Inveracity." From the moment I heard that slam I knew I had to have this album. Luckily I found it with "Pierced From Within" (which I like better, but this album is more classic). |

With this album I am convinced that Dave Ellefson is the best bass player in the Big Four. The bass parts (next to the guitar parts) are simply out of this world for a thrash album. I have no idea how Dave Mustaine plays and sings these songs. Incredible |

Monolith of Inhumanity
If they ever produced an album of just Travis Ryan growling I would buy it. What an ingenious arrangement of black metal screeches and slam gurgles. Best vocalist in death metal today in my opinion. He even created some new vocal technique that I have never heard of before that he uses for the choruses. It's not quite a black metal scream, but it is not a death screech either. More like a very high black metal growl. Apart from that, the other band members aren't afraid to dish out some of the most disgusting slams, riffs, solos, and blast beats on the planet. Possibly album of the year for me. |

Along with Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard, this band has been on my stoner metal radar. The riffs in the first part of the album are my favorite of all time and I listen just for these riffs alone sometimes. This album marked my journey heavily into stoner/doom metal. Perfect for a long drive. |

As said before, nothing beats AC/DC with Bon Scott (R.I.P.). My favorite AC/DC album by far and I bought it only a week or so ago. Powerfull riffs, solid drumming, raunchy guitar solos, and Highway to Hell is such a perfect song in itself. |

I recently got into this album. Still trying to figure out how much I like it, but so far, so good. It doesn't hurt that "Message in a Bottle," and "Walking On the Moon" are included in this album. Overall, just a really chill listen for me. |

I have been listening to this album almost every day this week, so I figured it deserved a spot on this chart. The most beautiful vocals in black metal can be found on this album as well as graceful folk passages. This album really carries me into a Norwegian forest in the middle of a chilly night with a full moon's light seeping in around the tree foliage around me. |
