My Life In Music (starting 2006)

Credit to StagnantWords for this idea, but the idea is to make a list of some of your favorite albums from each year. Some of the years have so many albums because my musical taste literally exploded in the past 3 years.
1 2006 (Age 12)
2Audioslave
Audioslave

This was the album that got me into rock music. I remember hearing "Out of Exile" and trying to do the air guitar the solo (even though it's not how a typical guitar solo is) every time I heard it on the radio. hahaha I listened to the radio non-stop to figure out what song and artist it was by. Then, somehow I ended up with this album and the rest is history.
3Hammerfall
Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken

My first metal band. I don't know why, but I couldn't grasp Iron Maiden quite as well back then as I do now, but Secrets and Hammer of Justice blew my mind from this album. I was so lucky to see them when they came to my hometown in 2010
4Story of the Year
Page Avenue

The first band I heard screaming in. I heard it from Need For Speed Undergound 2. I never picked up the album, but I loved this song so much that I had to put it on here.
5Rise Against
Siren Song of the Counter Culture

I heard "Give It All" and immediately became obsessed with this album. I actually listen to this album more than "The Sufferer & The Witness" and I don't know why. Probably for the extreme nostalgia I get from it. hahaha
6Iced Earth
Tribute To The Gods

With AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, KISS, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, and Judas Priest covers, you can't really go wrong. I love the singer's voice though.
7 AC/DC
AC/DC Live [2-Disc Collector's Edition]

One of my good friends gave me this album and I remember borrowing someone's walkman on the bus ride home from school listening to this album. Back then, it wasn't uncommon for someone to buy all of their music back then, so this cd was a BIG plus because iTunes STILL doesn't have any AC/DC
8 2007
9Green Day
American Idiot

Ahhhhh, this album. Hahahaha everyone thought they were a badass for listening to it. There was this punk-ish girl on my bus who I was friends with and I had her burn me a copy of it. I remember rushing home so excited, but knowing it swears throughout the cd. I popped it in my radio/cassette/cd player blasting it until a swearing part would come on then I rapidly turned it down. It's no wonder my parents caught me with it and took it away hahahaha
10 Silverstein
Discovering the Waterfront

Another one of my friends on my bus showed me this. "Your Sword vs My Dagger" is still one of my all-time favorite songs.
11Daughtry
Daughtry

Living proof that not winning American Idol doesn't mean anything. My mom liked this cd oddly enough.
12Disturbed
Ten Thousand Fists

Again, I found out album from "Need For Speed: Most Wanted." Decadence is a sick song. I still think this is their best album.
13Fabolous
Real Talk

Here starts my rap lineage. For about a solid year all I listened to was rap. I still like Hammerfall and all that stuff, I just rarely listened to it.
14 2008
Album
15 50 Cent
Get Rich or Die Tryin'

Like I said, I never really bought whole albums (minus "Audioslave"), but I listened to a lot of the songs on here to put it on my list.
1650 Cent
Curtis

My obsession with 50 Cent continues. I actually bought two music videos from this album on iTunes, "Straight to the Bank" and "I Get Money." And on top of that I bought a documentary on 50 Cent. These were dark times hahaha
17 The Game
The Documentary

This remains one of my favorite rap albums today. I just love his voice and how he raps. Also, it didn't hurt that two of my favorite rappers at the time Eminem and 50 Cent were featured heavily on this album. I found out about this album from "Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition." Such a sick game.
18
19Hammerfall
Threshold

Another one of the few whole albums I bought. It is an ok album. They had better. This probably started my shift back towards rock.
20Rise Against
Revolutions Per Minute

Like I said, I never gave up listening to rock, I just preferred rap so much more at the time. I went back in their discography, and this is probably my favorite album by them.
21KISS
The Very Best of Kiss

For whatever reason I became EXTREMELY obsessed with KISS towards the end of my 8th grad year. I burned almost all of their cds that I could get my hands on on my computer. This was probably because my dad is/was a major KISS fan back in the day. I still have yet to decide on my favorite KISS album, but I am ok with listening to the hits right now
22 2009

Oh, the high school years...
23Rage Against the Machine
Rage Against the Machine

One of my first good friends I made in high school lent me this album. My mom hated it, said it swore too much. What do you expect? hahaha it's RATM! It took me forever to purely enjoy this album instead of skipping over the slower starting songs in favor of the in-your-face rock songs.
24Rise Against
Appeal to Reason

Oh, my first concert. Hahaha how many I have gone to since, only God knows. hahaha It was an awesome show though. Thankfully I saw them when they played a lot of their older stuff (they still do, just not as much).
25Metallica
Metallica

I am not exactly sure how I got into this album, but I kinda joined the bandwagon on this one. hahaha It's alright. "Master of Puppets" is sooooo much better though.
26All That Remains
The Fall of Ideals

First full screaming death metal-esque album I ever really got into. I can thank Guitar Hero II for this one. hahaha This started a stream of metalcore bands once I could get into something besides this band and Shadows Fall. I was lucky enough to be able to meet them at the first ever Mayhem Fest. That was one sick lineup, but I never appreciated it until now. Now I kick myself repeatedly for skipping Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Job For A Cowboy, Whitechapel, and Behemoth. A lot of the bands I saw that day I grew to love throughout high school.
27Slipknot
Slipknot

Yep, I was one of those people at one time...hahaha I think if you don't go through some phase of listening to nu-metal and you like metal now and you were born in the '90s, something is wrong with you.
28Shadows Fall
Retribution

A really under rated album. I enjoy this one a lot. Once I heard "The Light That Blinds" from "Guitar Hero II" I gradually started to like them. I thought this was the toughest stuff around at the time though. hahaha Probably because Brian Fair's vocals are so unique.
29The Absence
From Your Grave

Words cannot describe the awe and amazement that struck me when I stumbled upon this on iTunes one day. I immediately got this album for Christmas that year. Still listen to this album heavily today. The leads are just out of this world.
30 2010
31Haste the Day
Burning Bridges

My all time favorite Christian metal album. It has the killer vocals, intelligent breakdowns, awesome hardcore dancing sections, a solo or two, and the ambient track at the end is spectacular. This album is my saving grace. Probably my first tattoo will consist of a quote from this album.
32Underoath
Define the Great Line

While all of my friends were drooling over "They're Only Chasing Safety" I was appreciating the pure gold of this album. This album progressively grew on me.
33 I Killed the Prom Queen
Music for the Recently Deceased

Ed Butcher, one of the biggest assholes in the music industry, but my God is a good screamer. I adore his voice. It gave me chills the very first time I heard it. That is the main reason I love this album so much. Other than that the instruments are great and nowhere near typical metalcore. Still jam to this album from day to day.
34Blessthefall
Witness

I don't know why but this album just stuck with me. Maybe it's beau boken's voice. The instruments are alright. This is at least a fun listen like most post hardcore albums of recent.
35 Beneath the Sky
What Demons Do To Saints

With a voice kinda similar to Ed Butcher, I guess I kind of like raspy voiced vocalists. His voice has gotten old on me, but the songs are still killer. You can't beat "7861," "Goodfellas," or the synth breakdown in "Falling in Love With Cold Hands."
36As I Lay Dying
The Powerless Rise

I listened to this album non-stop for a couple months after I bought this album. Best purchase probably of the first half of my high school. This album made me realize what truly good metalcore sounds like that wasn't All That Remains. I remember passing this cd around to all of my friends in high school who all loved it.
37Hatebreed
Supremacy

Saw the tail end of the "Defeatist" music video on Headbanger's Ball and I went nuts. The circle pit was sick. This was my first taste of hardcore and Hatebreed in general, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for them. This album helped me through a lot. Jamey Jasta is such an inspirational person it's crazy.
38Of Mice & Men
Of Mice & Men

My friend suggested me this album while I was wondering what album to buy in an FYE. Never thought twice about it, just bought it. What an album. I love austin's vocals and the songs are great for a casual listen.
39Paramore
Riot!

One day I remember laughing at my good friend Evan because he said he liked Paramore. Funny thing is Paramore ended up becoming one of my favorite bands in recent years. This is their break to success and while I think "All That We Know Is Falling" is a superior album, this album really broke me into the genre of pop-punk along with All Time Low and New Found Glory.
40August Burns Red
Thrill Seeker

I also got this album for Christmas the year before. I think I wanted "Messengers," but this album is awesome. It contains some classics like the epic "The Seventh Trumpet" and "Speech Impediment." I haven't listened to this album in a long time, but at the time I absolutely loved it.
41Hammerfall
One Crimson Night

After getting all of the Hammerfall albums I could scrounge together from my local library I found this one that completed my collection of sadly, only three other Hammerfall albums I could get. Although I do not like live albums that much, this one rocks and I have a distinct memory of begging my mom to let me play this album on the way home from the library and then asking what language the commentary is. It's Swedish, DUH.
42Suicide Silence
The Cleansing

*sigh* ...One of the albums on the list I am embarrassed to say that I could stand the whole way through and actually cherished time and time again. I cannot believe I thought this album was so cool and "brut@l" back then. hahahaha This takes the cake as the most repetitive album I have ever listened to in recent memory. Either way, back in the day I thought I was hot shit for listening to THE "Suicide Silence" walking around the school halls with my skull adorned t-shirt. At least the cover is cool. Ahhhh, good times... hahaha
43AC/DC
High Voltage

I never got any of the older AC/DC (my library didn't much in likes of old AC/DC), but it's a damn shame Bon Scott is gone. Don't get me wrong, I love Brian Johnson, he is about the only guy I could ever see replace him, but there is just something listening to "It's A Long Way to the Top" or "Rock N' Roll Singer" with Bon Scott that is special.
44Unearth
The Oncoming Storm

While I had heard "III: In The Eyes of Fire," I thought this album was better for whatever reason. Now, I obviously think differently, but this album is still very listenable with hits like "Zombie Autopilot," "The Great Dividers," and "This Lying World."
45 Cannibal Corpse
Evisceration Plague

For whatever reason I was bored at the library one time and picked this album up. Evisceration Plague was my first taste into death metal that I actually liked at the time. I distinctly remember listening to "Shatter Their Bones" or "Evidence in the Furnace." I am glad I got to meet the band this year. That was one of the greatest experiences of my life since they have grown into one of my all time favorite bands.
46 2011

The year that began my extreme music growth...
47Vanna
A New Hope

Originally I loved Vanna to begin with so I already liked this album, but this album is really special to me. Besides their "The Search Party Never Came EP" I think "A New Hope" is their best album. "Safe to Say" is just such a good song.
48Pathology
Legacy of the Ancients

No idea how I even got into Pathology. I think I might have been watching a Canifex video and "Code Injection" played. The album isn't all that outstanding, but it is a solid listen every now and then. Opened me up briefly to slam. The riff midway through "Abduction" still gets me every time.
49 In Flames
A Sense of Purpose

Absolutely nowhere near their best album. I don't know why I liked this album so much. Maybe it was because I could relate to it so much on a personal level. Songs like "The Chosen Pessimist" really helped me through a lot of crap.
50Machine Head
The Blackening

Some people even say this album sucks, but I completely disagree with them to this day. There isn't really too much to say about this album besides it is really pissed off, solid new metal. I even auditioned with "Halo" on bass guitar for a music scholarship in college.
51Slayer
Reign in Blood

Ahh, yes. This album. A fan favorite for so many reasons. What most people don't realize was how groundbreaking this album was at the time. It was so frickin' fast it was unbelievable. Even though from late 2009 and until this time I was pretty much a scene kid, I found a way to like a majority of this album and it grew on me rapidly so that I think it is my favorite Slayer album now (even though I still have to listen to a couple classic ones like "Hell Awaits").
52Evergreen Terrace
Wolfbiker

Great, great, great metalcore album. It has the right amount of hardcore influence and clean singing to make it very catchy and technically sound for the genre.
53 Funeral for a Friend
Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation

I love this album. Easily still one of my favorites. Once again, I heard of it from a video game. This time it was "Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition." This is my favorite emo/post hardcore/whatever you wanna call it besides "screamo" album. The guitars are amazing and the songs are really catchy and just overall awesome. A must listen for fans of this genre.
54Hit the Lights
This Is a Stick Up...

Arguably my favorite pop-punk album. Attention grabbing from beginning to end, you will be singing "you're gonna need a body bag" before you even know it.
55Bring Me The Horizon
Count Your Blessings

No ex-scene kid's list would be complete without this album. This album (more specifically the "Pray For Plagues" video) sparked a generation of scene kids who thought they could make a successful deathcore album. Joke's on them. hahaha A very solid listen. Oli's inhales and exhales are very strong on this album and the breakdowns are relentless. Shockingly enough, there are even solos on this album. My love for this band went on and off throughout my high school years.
56 The Crimson Armada
Guardian

Spectacular deathcore album. Yes, you heard me correctly, "spectacular." My friend gave me this album thinking I would like this band and he was right as he has ever been. I still listen to the guitar shredding on this album from time to time. Too bad they are the worst excuse for music besides whatever Annotations From An Autopsy are doing now.
57Parkway Drive
Killing With A Smile

At times very generic and boring - at other times the best soundtrack to a pit on here minus Hatebreed. "So cry me a fucking river bitch!"
58Killswitch Engage
Alive or Just Breathing

By now, it has to be apparent that vocals sometimes make or break an album for me. Jesse Leech still is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. He can do it all: soaring choruses, hard rock voice, and wicked screams. Next to "The End of Heartache" I think this is their best album. I listened to this album non-stop purely just to hear Jesse Leech's voice. I am beyond happy that he re-joined the band. This album really propelled metalcore to what it is today.
59Carnifex
Hell Chose Me

Oh Carnifex. Words cannot describe the love affair I have had with this band. I simply do not understand it. To be honest, they are the least fluent band when it comes to musical transitions pretty much of all time reasonably popular bands. The first half of this album rips and I remember listening and watching the music videos non-stop. I was so happy when I finally bought this album. And when I met Scott Lewis hahaha xD
60Salt the Wound
Kill The Crown

My friend got this album for free at a release show and he let me borrow it. In all honestly I listened to it just because they were a local band, but this album is sweet. The leads are extremely melodic and was a gigantic step up from "Carnal Repercussions" and "Ares." It has grown on me and makes me feel proud of my city every time I bump it rollin' around town.
61Morbid Angel
Altars of Madness

The first real classic death metal album I laid my hands on. Since I was still a changing scene kid, this album didn't hit me too much until later in the year. My favorite memory besides just listening in awe was playing some "The Ready Set" in my car with my friend next to this biker and then quickly switching to the death metal goodness supplied by this album. hahahaha
62The Casualties
On the Front Line

Their best album by far. I always liked this band because they were punk but they weren't anything like the wimpy punk of today. It was punk with balls, and they showed it when I saw them and ultimately talked to the bass player. This album really solidified a ground for my punk love to start. The bass playing on this album is extraordinary.
63 Rancid
Let's Go

To be honest, at first I HATED this album. I couldn't understand why my bass teacher was so in love with this album. I eventually found out. To me, this is better than "...And Out Came the Wolves."
64 Bring Me The Horizon
There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It

I know what you are probably thinking "Really? Two bring me the horizon albums on this list?!?! Geeze! What a terrible music taste! Oli Sykes' voice is not br00t@l anymore! He ruined his voice! blah blah blah blah blah." Get over it, Oli CHANGED his vocal technique, he DID NOT ruin his voice. He does the old stuff even better than before (because he now exhales it even the lows) now. Everyone just tries to find a way to hate him when half the kids probably can't even do a simple fry scream. Get over yourself. Ok, my rant is over. Once I got over the vocal change my love for this album exploded. The songs are so heartfelt and I love how they combined post rock with metalcore and hardcore so tastefully.
65Bloodbath
Nightmares Made Flesh

A very quality buy for me. I ended up buying the Enthroned album below instead of this one in a split decision. During the course of the summer I began to listen to more death and black metal and this album shows it. It's not full on death metal, but the guitars weave back in forth around the screeching vocals of Peter Tagtgren of Hypocrisy. I think this is the only one without the vocalist from Opeth on an album, but I love this album so much. I really should listen to it again...
66 Enthroned
Pentragrammaton

I really got lucky on this album. My first black metal album really paid off quite well. I don't listen to it too much anymore, but at the time it was just what I needed to quench my growing black metal and creepy needs. I would always play this on my long drive to school if the day was particularly dreary or gloomy.
67Every Time I Die
The Big Dirty

I had gotten this album before but I wasn't too impressed with it. Sometime this year I really started to understand this album and I gradually got it. A perfect album for a rager.
68Behemoth
Demigod

This album kicked me in the balls - literally. The production on this album is so massive it is almost overwhelming. I first decided to pick up this album after hearing about it in a book called "The 100 Best and Absolute Greatest Heavy Metal Albums in the World. Ever." I don't think without this book that I would have been able to crawl out of my inner scenedom and reclaim my metalhead ways. I find it almost impossible to not listen to at least the first three tracks whenever I play this album. The interesting thing is shortly after I bought this album I had just gotten brand new speakers in my car; and boy did this album really make them bump - especially with the bass all the way up. \m/ From the opening Egyptian-esque guitar intro my life was irrevocably changed forever.
69Mayhem
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

So much controversy surrounded such an amazing album. My first taste into the hay-day of black metal transported me into another world. I remember buying this at a record exchange upon seeing the clerk with a Behemoth shirt he helped show me some quality death and black metal release. One name I remember is Windir who is pretty darn good if you ask me. Some day I will own the original release on vinyl. This remains in my top ten of black metal albums
70Cannibal Corpse
Tomb of the Mutilated

This wasn't my introduction to the Florida death metal band known as Cannibal Corpse, but it was most certainly the first album I bought by them. It has some awesome songs on it (the first two obviously), but I prefer to listen to "Butchered At Birth" or "The Bleeding" instead of this one. Probably because I played the hell out of this thing once I got it with the Mayhem cd. hahaha
71Converge
Jane Doe

I will not lie, when I first heard this album after reading so much praise about it on here I thought it was complete trash. But, i wanted to see what all the hype was about so I continued to listen to it. Once I got to the title track, it all made sense. Jane Doe is unlike any other cd I heard then and now. The cd just bleeds raw emotion. You can feel it deep in your bones. The music portrays it excellently and Jacob Bannon's vocals just sound like a banshee screaming of its eternal pain in hell. Easily in my top 5 albums of all time.
72 2012

And my life will never be the same... (throw a random Death album in here because I forgot to mention them haha whups)
73Dio
Holy Diver

R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio.
What else is there to say about this album that hasn't already been said? Even as a scene kid (I heard this album halfway through 2011) I realized that this album was special even if it didn't have breakdowns. I remember listening to it thinking it was going to suck and actually making it through the whole cd and replaying it at least partially through once more. Ronnie James Dio really did have one of the best voices in metal. A true metal god among men.
74Cannibal Corpse
The Bleeding

The vocals on this album are inhuman. They literally are downright scary. In my opinion, this is their best album. The instruments are top notch. I scare my friends all the time with "Fucked With A Knife." hahaha
75Accept
Balls to the Wall

All credit due to that top 100 metal albums book because I would have never even heard of this album had it not been for that book. Some excellent stuff on this album. A real fist pumped from beginning to end.
76Immolation
Close to a World Below

I originally settled for this album after my attempts at getting a copy of "Dawn of Possession" proved futile. Best surprise of my life. The drumming is insane on this album and it is the most evil death metal album since Deicide's self titled.
77Foo Fighters
Wasting Light

Its been a while since a non-metal album showed up and what better one than this one? I always loved the foo and this album rocks from start to finish. Easily their best album. I very frequently listen to this cd ever since I bought it the day it was released.
78In Flames
The Jester Race

One of the albums that helped create the "Gothenburg sound." I bought this probably two years ago on iTunes because I heard it was their best album and I never appreciated its haunting beauty until now. Man, I am a sucker for acoustic guitar interludes...
79Decapitated
Winds of Creation

I cannot believe that this band was younger than I am when they made this album. It makes me feel so insignificant in my musical abilities! "Nine Steps" has to be my favorite track and the Slayer cover is just wow.
80Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath

The first metal album in existence and I cannot believe it took me this long to listen and enjoy it. It is up there with "Jane Doe" and "Painkiller" as my favorite metal album ever. From the first note it just took me into another world...
81Judas Priest
Painkiller

I remember listening to this album on the way to work one day and my jaw just dropped. I cannot believe that Rob Halford is on vocals in this album. This album just rocks hard all day everyday. The solos are screaming, the drumming faster than someone would run if Satan himself were chasing them, and the songs are all hits.
82King Crimson
In the Court of the Crimson King

"Twenty First Century Schizoid Man" contains one of my all time favorite riffs. This album produced a big musical taste change for me. I got big into progressive stuff after hearing this album.
83 Mercyful Fate
Don't Break the Oath

You either love or hate King Diamond's vocals. I, on the other hand did both in my life time. I learned through hate to love his vocal style. This happened on one brisk night I was driving home early in the morning and this album's true majesty really hit me. One of the darkest and most satanically true/evil albums ever. It just sounds like if you play this album at the witching hour something will rise out of your floorboards.
84Meshuggah
Obzen

Polyrythyms and one hell of a group of musicians. I cherish this album and although I have yet to hear some of their better stuff, this album opened my eyes to really complex musical timings and arrangements.
85Pantera
Far Beyond Driven

Oddly enough, this is my favorite Pantera album. I don't really know why, but none of the albums really hit me as hard as this one. Because I started to really get into Black Sabbath I liked the sludge factor on this album; and it doesn't hurt that it has a "Planet Caravan" cover at the end. It's up there with my metal favorites. R.I.P. Dimebag
86Dr. Dre
The Chronic

I may not smoke weed, but this album kicks for an old school rap album. The flow of both Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre is really good on this album and the instruments are really thought out and not just mindless bass impacts. Started a backtrack into old school rap by me to groups like N.W.A. and Wu-Tang.
87The Clash
London Calling

My bass teacher really has some hardcore influence on my music tastes. hahaha This along with "Let's Go" by Rancid got me really back into giving punk another try as well as introducing me into ska.
88Brutal Truth
Need to Control

I don't know why I latched onto this album so much. Supposedly it isn't even their best album, but I love it. Once I got the original cd from my local record store I was entranced by the organized chaos on this cd. The first track being really sludgy and dragging also really intrigued me. It helped the rest of the album really slap me in the face.
89Deftones
Diamond Eyes

For whatever reason when my nu-metal phase was happening I decided to skip over this band. As soon as I heard "You've Seen the Butcher" I was hooked and I ended up buying this album on limited edition white vinyl. My love for Deftones has grown ever since although I still have yet to listen to "White Pony" all the way through.
90Opeth
Deliverance

I am rather bad at listening to some bands' landmark albums, but out of the four I found at the library (this, Ghost Reveries, Heritage, and their live album The Roundhouse Tapes) I like this one the best. It's just a really chill and technically complex album. Blackwater Park, Orchid, Still Life, Morningrise, and My Arms Your Hearse are soon to follow.
91The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

My God this album is ridiculous. I cannot imagine being in a band this crazy and being expected to play these songs live. Some of these songs are so technically complex and fast that I can barely understand what is going on. These guys rock, plain and simple.
92Suffocation
Effigy of the Forgotten

The heaviest album of all time. Anyone who opposes it will be steam rolled by the slam in "Liege of Inveracity." From the moment I heard that slam I knew I had to have this album. Luckily I found it with "Pierced From Within" (which I like better, but this album is more classic).
93Rush
Moving Pictures

Thus starts my progression into Rush and other progressive rock bands. Geddy Lee is as awesome as ever and I always love his bass tones on the albums. Following this were two other Rush albums that were added to my collection.
94Megadeth
Rust in Peace

With this album I am convinced that Dave Ellefson is the best bass player in the Big Four. The bass parts (next to the guitar parts) are simply out of this world for a thrash album. I have no idea how Dave Mustaine plays and sings these songs. Incredible
95Mastodon
Leviathan

Awesome, awesome album. Heavy, full of sludge and extremely technical guitar parts. I have just recently heard it all the way through and I can't wait until the next time.
96Cattle Decapitation
Monolith of Inhumanity

If they ever produced an album of just Travis Ryan growling I would buy it. What an ingenious arrangement of black metal screeches and slam gurgles. Best vocalist in death metal today in my opinion. He even created some new vocal technique that I have never heard of before that he uses for the choruses. It's not quite a black metal scream, but it is not a death screech either. More like a very high black metal growl. Apart from that, the other band members aren't afraid to dish out some of the most disgusting slams, riffs, solos, and blast beats on the planet. Possibly album of the year for me.

Welcome to Sky Valley

Along with Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard, this band has been on my stoner metal radar. The riffs in the first part of the album are my favorite of all time and I listen just for these riffs alone sometimes. This album marked my journey heavily into stoner/doom metal. Perfect for a long drive.

Highway To Hell

As said before, nothing beats AC/DC with Bon Scott (R.I.P.). My favorite AC/DC album by far and I bought it only a week or so ago. Powerfull riffs, solid drumming, raunchy guitar solos, and Highway to Hell is such a perfect song in itself.

Reggatta de Blanc

I recently got into this album. Still trying to figure out how much I like it, but so far, so good. It doesn't hurt that "Message in a Bottle," and "Walking On the Moon" are included in this album. Overall, just a really chill listen for me.

I have been listening to this album almost every day this week, so I figured it deserved a spot on this chart. The most beautiful vocals in black metal can be found on this album as well as graceful folk passages. This album really carries me into a Norwegian forest in the middle of a chilly night with a full moon's light seeping in around the tree foliage around me.
