01.12.12 | Altho maybe I would put I'm With You a little higher. idk, that middle section is tough to rank. BSSM and Cali are what really matters though. |

01.12.12 | Obviously these are all just my personal favorites from top to bottom. I've been a RHCP fan since '89 when Mother's Milk came out. BSSM is not only the Chili's best album, it is a defining 90's "rock" album and one of my top ten personal favorites ever. It is drenched in funk, rock, sleaze and soul. Californication is another great rock album of its time. I like all RHCP albums with the exception of their newest one, which is below average at best. I've listened to it all the way through several times and to me it's just garbage which is why I put it last. |

01.12.12 | I 2nd Yazz_Flute. I'm With You doesn't deserve to be the last for me.
Just saw your comment. Hmm. I'm okay with that. |

01.12.12 | Fan since Mothers Milk as well but I can't agree with your ranking.
I can't place 2 and 4 above 5. |

01.12.12 | I'm pretty biased towards the Frusciante/Rubin era. "Mother's Milk" was a great album. I just like the ones I ranked ahead of it more. I know some people like "I'm With You." I'm not one of them. It just sounds like a completely different band to me without JF. This worked decently on "One Hot Minute" with Dave Navarro which I liked quite a bit, even though I have it ranked low. I just can't stand the sound that Josh Klinghoffer brings. His soloing is so amateur its almost funny. Some songs are ok, but as an over all album, I just don't care for it at all. I would love to see them just hang it up at this point. Flea has so much to offer to the world musically, I feel he's being constrained by them at this point. He and JF were so brilliant together I would love to see them reunite! |

01.12.12 | I recognize 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' as their best, but 'By The Way' is still my favorite, and I truly think it's better than 'Californication' (though the latter has one of my absolute favorite songs by the band in 'Parallel Universe'). And 'The Uplift Mofo Party Plan' is a bit underrated, IMO.
"He and JF were so brilliant together I would love to see them reunite!"
Perhaps they will on John Frusciante's newest solo album. |

01.12.12 | One Hot Minute has always been their most underrated album, it has some really good stuff on it, with no bad songs. I like I'm With You but it's a bit different than traditional RHCP so I can understand the dislike.
I do think that the band itself would disagree with you about Klinghoffer not meshing with them, judging from how they're all "we're having so much fun! we were able to easily write like 60 songs so far! blah blah" |
WailinTim31
01.12.12 | 60 bad songs :) |

01.12.12 | Their newest album sounded just like them. A bit too much like them honestly
And new Frusciante solo album? Que? |

I definitely enjoy their new album (I think I 4'ed it), but it's much more bass-driven than anything they've ever done. Flea's bass for RHCP has always been pretty damn prominent but in I'm With You it's even more prominent, moreso than any other rock album out there really. Klinghoffer usually just plays in the background to complement Flea, whereas before the guitar would often play a much bigger role. For that reason alone I don't think the two sounds are the same. |

01.13.12 | I'm not sure how this turned into a review only on "I'm With You", but I'll just say one last thing on it. It's true that Flea's bass is very much featured on it, along with his piano on a few songs. The music theory masters degree is definitely on the album. I just plain don't like the songs! They just sound so polished and composed, as opposed to the loose jamming riffs and songs that were JF and Flea's bread and butter. Also, THERE'S NO FUNK!! I don't think that JK has any sense of funk music in him. Navarro didn't either, but they were still able to put out a very solid rock album with "One Hot Minute." Also, nobody mentioned their really old stuff from the Hillel Slovak era. Probably because most people have heard very little of it. Freaky Styley is my favorite from that era. It's probably their funkiest album and was produced by George Clinton. |

01.13.12 | And as far as John Frusciante solo albums go, he has some really good ones. "Shadows Collide With People" is my favorite. I also love his collaborations with Omar and Mars Volta. |

01.13.12 | Yeah One Hot Minute is way to low. It contains 4 of their best gems; Warped, Deep Kick, Coffee Shop and Walkabout. |

01.13.12 | SCWP is also my fave JF album, has some really amazing hooks/melodies |

01.13.12 | BloodSugarSexMagik - is immaculate
Californication - Almost perfect
Freaky styley - Just too damn funky
One Hot Minute - really dark and trippy. Very metallic
Uplift Mofo - Really dated by this point but has some great little songs
By The Way - I love a couple of songs but too much of this is just so boring
Mothers milk - Also really dated. Has some good songs but the production and guitar tone really take away from this one
I'm with you - mediocre
Self titled - just not good...
