Well I don't know much neofolk at all. Sorry.. But thanks for the recs!! XD
Although I do like Musk Ox, I'm only fleetingly familiar with neofolk, so these could very well be trash/pleb suggestions. That being said, maybe try :
- Myrninerest: Jhonn Uttered Babylon
I've seen a couple different versions of this album floating around, but only listened to the "James Blackshaw mix." There might be another mix you prefer.
- Wovenhand: Refractory Obdurate
Their earlier work, to my understanding, is more "neofolk." Still a good album.
- The Visit: Through Darkness Into Light
- Giles Corey - S/T
Other artists to try:
-The Hare and the Moon - ("The Three Ravens" and "The Willows" are the only tracks I know)
- Current 93 (if you're even exploring neofolk, I'm sure you're well aware of Current 93/Death in June/anything David Tibet's ever touched)
Musk Ox/The Visit's cellist has another project called Flying Horses. Really strange folk/classical stuff. Check out their album Tolt.
Circle of Ouroborus releases folk albums on occasion. Their trend lately has been black metal on side A and folk on side B. Hiljaiset Sanat is a good one to start with, I suppose. Uni kyystä is a great song.
Check out Fields of Mildew. Not as Europeon folk-y as this stuff, but different and good.
Thanks dudes, gonna check out all of these I haven't heard.
