A Stepping Stone Into 'heavier Music'

There are countless albums to list but this is all that I can think of but there ya go. rrThis ris what I used to listen to (shamefully) But one thing I have to be thankful for, rit rrhelped rme get into heavier music and I'm certain I wasn't the only one. Ignore rmy rroveruse of rbrackets and my unfunny humor. rMy question is, what got you into rrheavier music?
25Chelsea Grin
Desolation Of Eden

Even then I couldn't really stand it.
24Bring Me The Horizon
Count Your Blessings

Lol.
23Miss May I
Apologies Are For The Weak

No, this album is weak.
22 Bullet For My Valentine
Album

Various songs from them.
21Atreyu
The Congregation Of The Damned

This is probably not the most popular album from them but I discovered
them late. I don't care what anyone says, the first song is the tits!
20Alesana
The Emptiness

I remember when everyone told me that the album looks like an asshole.
But it could be a vagina.
19We Came As Romans
To Plant A Seed

At least when I listened to bad music I could tell the they needed to do
something about the vocalist. Now I see that they need to do something
with the whole band...
18I See Stars
3D

I found these guys on Sumerian Records. I thought The Faceless was bad
but this was true metal. The first two songs are average at best, but this band isn't.
17Blessthefall
His Last Walk

I thought the only person who could rival Ronnie was Craig magget.
16Evanescence
Fallen

BRIIINGGG MEEE TOOO LIIFFFEEE
15Parkway Drive
Killing With A Smile

Those riffs. \m/
14For The Fallen Dreams
Relentless

I have to say there's a few songs on here I still find enjoyable. I also liked
Changes but this is the first album from them I heard. Too bad there's
almost no original members left.
13Skillet
Comatose

I think Alt Rock has been partly responsible for getting me into The
Progressive side of metal. Maybe not so much this.
12A Day To Remember
For Those Who Have Heart

My introduction to Pop Punk/metalcore. I admit I've never really had a
chance to properly listen to this album (I listened to Homesick first than
this) but seeing as Homesick is practically For Those Who Have Hearts 2.0,
let's just stick with this.
11Slipknot
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

Slipknot was the kind of in your face, I don't give a shit music that used to
get me pumped from all the kids I hated at school. Some songs on here are
still decent.
10Escape The Fate
Dying Is Your Latest Fashion

Post-hardcore was a big thing for me, especially the generic stuff. I used to
think Ronnie was a god. There's still a few fun songs on this.
9Three Days Grace
One-X

Very main stream rock. Still, this was enjoyable and I still prefer it over most
of the albums on this list.
8Asking Alexandria
Stand Up And Scream

This makes me embarrassed to be English. It's funny how I used to defend
this band and now I've jumped straight into the hate wagon. But how could
I not love this? Those screams were so Br00tal.
730 Seconds To Mars
30 Seconds To Mars

I think this album is responsible for me getting into the more 'spacey' feel of
certain bands like The Contortionist or Rosetta. I still enjoy this, The End Of
The Beginning is a great song.
6Attack Attack!
Someday Came Suddenly

I used to think this was the shit. Tecno dancing crabcore screamo orgy fest.
The music was so fucking heavy that we all had to end up walking like
retarded crabs, but I'm sure that joke is well passed old. The combination of synth, screams and autotunes was a
dream come true for me. But after a year of headbanging to the same ol'
chugging, something happened to me. The music just sounded like shit.
Everything did (See Southpark - You're getting old). As horrible as this was,
I can't help but thank it for showing me the difference between music and
noise.
5The Devil Wears Prada
Plagues

I'm sure SOME of you can agree with me that there was a point where you
enjoyed this. Come on, it was fun and laughable. I have to admit though, I
still enjoy their music. In fact I still enjoy some songs from WRAABB (I swear
I'm the only one who enjoyed WRAABB over Plagues). I also think Zombies
was a great EP as well as Dead Throne (not so much). They've leveled up
from being scene kids to hipsters.
4Motionless In White
When Love Met Destruction EP

I admit, this is absolutely terrible, but I really like Creatures, it just lacks replay. Chris is awesome though, as a vocalist but
even more as a person.
3Disturbed
The Sickness

Can you feel that? Aw shit, we're coming close to an end everyone!
I can't deny that I loved this album, I thought almost nothing could
compare. It's still fun.
2Breaking Benjamin
Phobia

I loved this as a kid, to me this was the ultimate rock. Now I see how bland
it can get but I this will always remain as a guilty pleasure.
Best song from these guys was Blow Me Away and from this album, Dairy of Jane.
1Linkin Park
Hybrid Theory

This is it ladies and gentleman, the album that got me into metal. m/
As much as people bitch about nu-metal I'm sure it has been a huge
stepping stone for many others out there that helped us break away from the
chains of mainstream and find something that we can truly relate to.
I'll always have a soft spot for this.
