01.06.21 | As for EP defined, it stands for 'Extended Play,' which means songs beyond a single but not quite considered a full album, methinks, and LP stands for 'Long Play'
I always thought they both kinda sounded like they meant the same thing, but oh well
I wish I could just search what EPs I have rated. Angel Vivaldi is the only thing I can think of at the moment. He really likes releasing EPs and he is a pretty dang good guitarist, if you are into inst/metal |

01.06.21 | why are you explaining EP? |
Trifolium
01.06.21 | Definition:
"An extended play, often referred to as an EP, or mini-album is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but is usually unqualified as an album or LP. Contemporary EPs generally contain a minimum of three tracks and maximum of six tracks, and are considered "less expensive and time-consuming" for an artist to produce than an album. An EP originally referred to specific types of vinyl records other than 78 rpm standard play (SP) and LP, but it is now applied to mid-length CDs and downloads as well. [...] In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a boundary between EP and album classification at 25 minutes of maximum length and no more than four tracks (not counting alternative versions of featured songs, if present). A modern EP is usually defined as generally between four and six tracks, with some sources setting a maximum of seven tracks or 28 minutes." - Wikipedia

01.06.21 | I always defined EPs and LPs by length alone with 30 minutes being the cutoff limit, and it's seeminlgy arbitrary. Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster is considered to be an EP and it's 34 minutes long. |
Ecnalzen
01.06.21 | "why are you explaining EP?"
"My first musical resolution of 2021 is to find some cool EPs to add to my collection (also if someone could give me a generally accepted definition of what constitutes an EP that would be swell)." |
