05.04.12 | Quick tip on dubstep - try compilation discs. I was in your position like a year back and kinda took the long approach to acquire myself to the genre, but in hindsight I think things would've been so much easier if I took comp CDs before getting into specific artists. They're actually really effective at presenting a holistic image of the different sounds of dubstep, so you can give it a spin, dig the few artists that you like from there, and branch out:
Hyperdub - 5 Years of Dubstep
Planet Mu - 10 Tons of Heavy
Ministry of Sound - The Sound of Dubstep 1/2/3 (all 3 albums usually start with 'brostep' in CD1 and gradually move towards the more 'non-brostep' sound you describe towards the end of CD2) |
