04.09.13 | I'm in Columbus, link didn't work
|
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | ah, need to remove the space before "girl-for-cutting-herself.htm". |
Jash
04.09.13 | Didn't work for me either, but the school shouldn't kick her out because she has some issues they should be doing what they can to help her. |
Jash
04.09.13 | ah of course because it's some private school that has "strict standards", i hate that those schools get this holier than thou attitude. All my siblings went to private schools for a while and then transferred back to public schools and said that they were a lot happier and learned easier at the public school because they didnt have these people breathing standards down their neck |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | I went to private school for a few years (because: trouble maker) and socially it sucked but the education was way better. |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | like, unarguably better |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | As long as they aren't accepting state/federal funding perhaps... but this makes them look like
cowards or crass at the very least imo. |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | private schools shouldn't exist anyway but yeah p. dumb |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | why not? |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | because giving unfair advantages to your children thanks to your own personal wealth is wrong, do we
really need to get into this argument though? |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | no you shouldn't. I understand why they would though, when the public sector is as piss poor and inefficient as it currently is |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | Sure why not... I can do anything I want with my money. If I choose to pay above and beyond what I already pay in taxes my kid can go wherever I send them. While someone else at a lateral position to me might save that money or buy a super nice car I choose a better education for my children. Why in the world would you have an issue with that... just don't participate. |
JackSparrow
04.09.13 | What kind of person with wealth and high expectations for their children wouldn't pay for them to have superior education? Just because you didn't have the equal opportunity? |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | if I tried arguing against that we'd be getting into arguments about entire economic systems
|
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | AF you do make me laugh. |

04.09.13 | keep telling yourself that hanson |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | human instincts depend on their environment |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | I'm assuming that what you are trying to say is that public schooling should be as good as but the fact of the matter is that it is not. In some places the local public school isn't even as good as the public school one county over. So the option is to move or pay for public schooling. If I have the money and I don't want to move... private education it is.
"just because rich people pay for a higher education for their kids doesn't mean they'll amount to shit. same as just because a poor kid starts out at a shit school doesn't mean he can't rise above and get a scholarship to make something of himself."
You are right but in this instance we aren't even talking about rich people. You can make that assumption if you want but you don't need to be rich to afford private schooling. You need to be mid-middle class at the very least. |
Cygnatti
04.09.13 | Private schools should exist because you can afford expensive cars, houses, food over others. That gives you an advantage of sorts but you have that right because you can spend your money on whatever you what. |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | 60k isn't enough to keep a house wife in bon bons
|
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | on topic, I'm not sure what the school's reasoning for this was anyway |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | He's an idealist and I think that's sweet but completely unrealistic. |
Cygnatti
04.09.13 | This here isn't a matter of economics, it is a matter of philosophy. Should people have nicer things and better opportunities because they are successful? I say yes. |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | She has issues, most kids do, she should not have been removed from school. They are clearly placing no importance on what is best for the child and should reevaluate their role in child education. |

04.09.13 | "because giving unfair advantages to your children thanks to your own personal wealth is wrong, do we really need to get into this argument though?"
oh come on wtf is this shit |
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | It's unrealistic at the moment that's for sure.
"This here isn't a matter of economics, it is a matter of philosophy. Should people have nicer things and better opportunities because they are successful? I say yes."
So the children are the successful ones here?
|
anarchistfish
04.09.13 | posting pictures of your own self harming isn't a clever move in the first place tbh |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | "So the children are the successful ones here?"
Children are the direct beneficiaries of a parents success or lack thereof. |

but you should realise people aren't gonna interpret it that way
as has been shown |

04.09.13 | A few years back, a couple of girls got expelled at my junior high for cutting and passing out in pools of blood in the bathroom. Or something like that. |

04.09.13 | Didn't expect this to take off like it did lol. Well, I never personally met her, she came after I graduated. But I still know
people there and supposedly she also had a lot of drug and alcohol problems, on top of convinced someone else to start
cutting. She and her family deny that any of that was mentioned when she was expelled and say it's all rumour and not
true.
Also, "CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYES" cracked me up. |
omnipanzer
04.09.13 | When I was in high school there was a kid who found his father after he'd hung himself. The guy understandably went a little nuts. Alcohol, drugs you name it. One night I got in his truck to go on a weed run with him. He left the lights off and tore down the street not stopping or slowing down at any of the 5 or 6 four way stops. This was a side street in the middle of town and clearly dangerous.
Point of the story...
not sure. |
Aids
04.09.13 | the idea of private schools is kind of annoying but if you think about it for longer than a few seconds, it's hardly worth complaining about. That's how capitalism works in the US: people with money get access to private businesses that can offer better social services than the government does. It's not just in education, it's quality of food, it's access to medicine, it's access to business opportunities, it's everything.
That's how your country works, and complaining about it is almost as useless as that whole "Occupy Wall St." bullshit was. Quit bitching and go whore yourself out to make some fuckin bank. That's what you have to do to survive in this society, and you're stuck in the 60s if you disagree. |

04.09.13 | Guys I'm likely smarter than you and I absolutely know more about this than you and private schools are fine. |

04.10.13 | i went to private school (in UK mind you) and i really liked it, pretty sure every one at my school actually liked school and everyone stayed on till 18 (you can leave at 16 in UK). I can't compare it to public school cause i was in private since i was 7, but i liked it and all the stereotypes you hear about private school kids aren't really true except for a couple of people, and my school was unbelievably posh our school uniform was tweed jackets |
