|Zen's 2018 in Electronic: LPs/Comps|
But mostly LPs. Very belated and should have sent it out weeks ago. Fab year for electronic music, fellow technocomrades chortles, luci and oltnabrick, granitenotebook, relinquished put out really nice lists with some of my favourite releases. Few of these I had to add to the db so hopefully you can find something you may have missed. Otherwise here it is, the definitive ranking for 2018. Might try add some descriptions later... i'll be better next year for real.

Shin-Okubo One Night Stand
Severely underrated release. Spacey much of the time but climaxes to the spell-binding especially on 'The Dawn' and 'The Prophecy'. Really worth giving a chance.
|9||Various Artists (Electronic)|
An impressively consistent 2 hour compilation from a label that already has a historic place in the electronic canon. Such a wide breadth of artists to enjoy here and a great introduction to them all.
Black Noise 2084
Oh my, the production on this is absolutely insane. Percussion flutters with jazzy scatters and heavy tribal pulses (a la Ninos Du Brasil), all grounded in a mesmerizing afro-aesthetic. This is just a veritable treasure chest packed to the brim with rhythmic gold.
Gentle, ethereal production with magical blends of colourful synths and naturalistic atmosphere. Khotin achieves essential sweetness and nostalgic beauty.
Phantom Thread OST
Classical. I know it's not electronic but it needs a place.
I am the type of guy who listens to club music while ironing my evening garments, so this was very relevant to my interests. Visceral eccentric production and ear-worms a plenty.
This album faded a little bit towards the end of the year but really he's second to none for drum programming. Intensely atmospheric.
Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides
As soon as 'Ponyboy' played for the first time this was destined for Top 5.
The relaxed sit down and cherish your liquor type deal. Ultra ear-candy.
NTS Sessions 1-4
IDM, funky machine goodness. No doubt this absolutely blew me away and didn't hear anything that came close. Seriously takes you to another plane.
gonk steady one.
