Albums I've Dug The Most. (last 5 Years)

Not a list of the greatest albums of the last 5 years, just the ones I've listened to over and over again to.
20 Modest Mouse
No One's First, and You're Next

Kind of subpar but the only material they have released in the last 5.
19 Death Cab For Cutie
Open Door EP

Short and sweet, some really good tracks on this EP.
18The Heavy
The House That Dirt Built

Other than hearing "How you like me now" in about 25 commercials, This album
rocked and had a true throwback feel to it.
17Minus The Bear
Infinity Overhead

Album #2 of MTB's electro-pop transition. Some great guitar work from Knudson
but overall a so-so album from one of my favorite bands.
16Minus The Bear

MTB venture into Electro-pop. Some really strong songs but a far cry from P.O.I.
15 Portugal. The Man
In the Mountain, In the Cloud

For mr this was an album that sounded great the first listen but not many songs
had staying power. That said, no bad songs on the album either.
14Death Cab For Cutie
Codes and Keys

These guys are getting really good at producing indie-pop albums that anyone can
like without being too generic.
We Don't Even Live Here

P.O.S. goes for a more "club" sound and does it better than most. In a weird way
this could be looked at as either his strongest or weakest album. No Filler, but IMO
no GREAT tracks either.
12Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkey's + Josh Homme= Really catchy stoner rock.
11Portugal. The Man
The Satanic Satanist

Super strong album, If I had a real beef with it, it would be that too many songs
sound like "single quality".
This is Our Science

Clever blend of hip hop and indie. Excellent songs and lyrics and even better
execution and production.
9Built To Spill
There Is No Enemy

This band is awesome, everything they do is awesome, that is all.
8Pearl Jam
Lightning Bolt

The only grunge band left with almost all of their original lineup still making great
new music. (Soundgarden's new one was pretty good too)
7Against Me!
Transgender Dysphoria Blues

Most of us agree, we miss the old Against Me!. However, this is a great comeback
album even if it is a little polished.
6Danny Brown

Never been much for rap from the streets, but Danny does a great job of taking a
fresh approach to it and his lyrics are personal which makes him seem like a human
being rather than some "rap god".
Bad Time Zoo

I love Sims flow and lyrical content. "Future Shock" is one of my favorite hip hop
songs ever. He is not super talented but his content and attention to detail makes
up for it.
4Silversun Pickups

I always thought these guys were a pumpkins rip-off band, and they kind of are.
Don't crucify me for this but I think Swoon may be better than Siamese Dream, Just
3 Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys perfected their QOTSA infused sound with a near perfect album.
Never Better

This album got me listening to rap again, hence why a good portion of this list is hip
hop. Just a wonderful, creative, well executed album. This put Doomtree on the
map for me.
1Portugal. The Man
Evil Friends

Maybe it's just cause it's still farily new to me. But I listen to this album at least
once a week and I just love it. Lyrics, production, musicianship, and recurring
themes seals this concept album as #1 for me in the last 5.
