Holy Shit This Year Has Been Great For Music
It's been a while, two weeks without a laptop killed my Sputnik use. How have you rfellas been? |
1 | | Meshuggah Koloss
My favorite band of all time- not my favorite album by them, but still absolutely amazing.
Whenever Meshuggah releases a new album I get all giddy inside. I usually think being a fanboy
is silly, but I can't help it with these guys-I love everything they do. Demiurge and Behind the
Sun are my personal favorites. |
2 | | Gojira L'Enfant Sauvage
Still prefer From Mars to Sirius, but this is a very accessible, enjoyable album. This is in my car
most of the time. The Axe and Mouth of Kalah are epic. |
3 | | Agalloch Faustian Echoes
I have a feeling I'm going to listen to this a lot more once winter comes around. One of my
favorite releases by Agalloch, and that's saying a lot because I don't think they've had a weak
release yet. |
4 | | Fear Factory The Industrialist
Some people don't like this, but for me this is Fear Factory going back to their roots in the best
way. Only disappointment is that the final track should have been an epic, not 9 minutes or so of
ambient technology shit. |
5 | | Neurosis Honor Found In Decay
Probably in the top four Neurosis albums imo. The second to last track is killer. A few days ago
I went to the mountains with my roommate, smoked and watched the sunrise while this album
was playing from his car-beautiful stuff, as expected |
6 | | Converge All We Love We Leave Behind
Pure Insanity |
7 | | Dethklok Dethalbum III
Even if I wasn't an avid fan of Metalocalypse I'd enjoy this- imo a big step up for them |
8 | | Cannibal Corpse Torture
My favorite album by these guys. I've been listening to them for about a decade and Tomb of
the Mutilated has always been my favorite up until this came out. The Strangulation
Chair...perfect death metal |
9 | | Wintersun Time I
Sons of Winter and Stars is probably one of my favorite songs of the year. Still prefer their
debut, but I've been waiting for this album for so many years that theres no way it could have
lived up. Still though, getting better with each release. |
10 | | Cryptopsy Cryptopsy
None So Vile is my favorite death metal album of all time, so naturally this is not even in the
same league. But I was ready to give up on these guys with the release of The Unspoken King
and this album was solid enough to get me interested again. Vocals aren't the best, but the
instrumentals are actually quite solid. |
11 | | Baroness Yellow And Green
The Red Album is still my favorite, but I still love this |
12 | | Between the Buried and Me The Parallax II: Future Sequence
Yeah, I know this band is widely hated on this site, but I think that's kind of silly. This album is
my favorite by them and is an awesome epic experience. Definitely one of my favorites this
year. |
13 | | The Devin Townsend Project Epicloud
Man, this guy just can't stop making music. I don't understand how anyone can be as eclectic as
this man is, not my favorite by him but worth it just for Kingdom |
14 | | Dying Fetus Reign Supreme
Their best in years |
15 | | Spawn of Possession Incurso
Wow, this is intense. I think they went a bit TOO technical with this one, but it still rules |
16 | | The Faceless Autotheism
I prefer Planetary Duality, but this has been growing on me quite a bit. I think they borrowed
from their influences a bit too much with this release, but it still works for me. The first three
songs are phenomenal. |
