Underated Artists I Consider Essential...

So yeah, this is just a list i went through to speak out on some bands that i think might get pushed under all the rest out there. Some are probably not that underated, but i really do think that all these groups need more people jammin' them...
1action patrol

chaotic screamo that's really catchy...
2afghan whigs

needless to say, a very pleasurable band...
3the aggrolites

how come i never here people mention them??? maybe i'm deaf...
4airiel

a really great dream-pop/shoegaze band...
5algernon cadwallader

sure, these guys may have some hype, but i don't think it's enough hype...
6all natural lemon & lime flavors

one of my favorite lo-fi/shoegaze bands...
7american music club

for some reason, devotchka always remind me of this band, which i think are the better group...
8american steel

besides hot water music and against me!, these guys are my definition of "orgcore" bear punk...
9anatomy of a ghost

not really that great of a band, but their version of middle/late 2000's post-hardcore was fresh and inspiring. members went on to portugal the man...
10the apples in stereo

i first heard this band on the cult kids show pete and pete. a really awesome indie pop band from the elephant six collective...
11the appleseed cast

90's emo, but taken to a much greater level in later releases. really awesome post-rock as well...
12armsbendback

one of the few trustkill bands i liked...
13autolux

my bloody valentine worship, but put to good use...
14bad astronaut

a supergroup of fat style punk bands making more laid back and simple music thats heartfelt and humbling...
15bailter space

robot world is one awesome album from this new zealand shoegaze band...
16bardo pond

psychedelic shoegaze...
17bear vs. shark

freekin' amazing band that died out to early. legends already and one of the few standouts from the 2000's post-hardcore/emo thing...
18beat happening

twee indie pop that's simple, yet addictive...
19bedouin soundclash

an awesome three piece from canada that makes summertime reggae/dub songs...
20belly

great 90's dream-pop...
21the bethany curve

some of the best shoegaze/dream-pop out there...
22big star

it's a tragedy that these guys aren't well known. Simple, yet amazing rock music done right and way before all the bs that came in the 80's and 90's and present day...
23boards of canada

I'm not sure about these guys, but when I mention them no one seems to know or give a flip. I guess it's only for the electronic people...
24bomb the music industry!

ex-arrogant sons of bitches. Great ska-punk mixed with slight electronic influences and folk punk I guess. weird mix, but freekin' awesome!!!
25the boo radleys

lo-fi shoegaze that I love...
26botch

probably well known in the metal/hardcore community, but not as much as they should. Singlehandedly inspired the math rock/metalcore scene among other acts like coalesce and converge...
27bowery electric

shoegaze and trip hop mixed together tightly...
28boys life

probably my favorite of midwest 90's emo. and I don't say that lightly...
29can

the best krautrock band ever. No doubt about it...
30the chamelons (uk)

really awesome post-punk that sort of seems guilty of inspiring U2...
31chavez

amazing 90's alternative rock. Think helmet mixed with fugazi perhaps...
32chocolate kiss

great emo/indie pop from Atlanta that has ex members of the hal al shedad and car vs driver...
33damezumari

screamo from oklahoma and other places that mixes together greatly...
34discount

before she went to the kills and the dead weather, Allison mosshart sang in this pop-punk / emo band from florida. think lemuira and copper...
35the drop nineteens

they onetime played on lollapalooza, but eh. a good shoegaze band...

a japanese screamo/post-rock band. very epic and beautiful chaos...
38ester drang

an awesome dream-pop band form oklahoma..
39exotic animal petting zoo

post-rock and screamo mixed with a slight bit of shoegaze thrown in for good measure...
40f-minus

political hardcore played very fast. Sort of thrashy, but not quite Charles bronson or d.r.i....
41favorite sons

awesome band from Brooklyn made up of members from rollerskate skinny...
42felt (uk)

nice lo-fi dream pop...
43fishbone

one of the best live bands around. Ska/ska-punk/soul/dub/rock/metal whatever. just get into them NOW!!!
44frodus

forgotten screamo and one of the few good bands that fueled by ramen ever put out...

46funeral diner

check out the underdark by this epic screamo band...
47galaxy 500

simple, yet amazing dream-pop...
48gameface

some of the best 90's emo/pop punk ever made. Very passionate and heartfelt...
49girls against boys

great 90's alternative. For fands of helmet and such..
50grade

one of the bands on victory that ushered in the emo/hardcore of the 2000's. sort of like poison the well I suppose...
51the happy mondays

manchester/madchester band whoes lead singer was shaun ryder. A poet/druggie that couldn't keep up. despite all that, the band was excellent and very danceable...
52harvey danger

flag pole sonata was a great song, but the rest of their recorded output was miles ahead of that one track...
53ignite

a very strange, yet awesome melodic hardcore band with singer zoli teglas who is an amazing vocalist and now sings for pennywise...
54jets to brazil

blake schwarzenbach's band after jawbreaker...
55juno

very great post-rock/emo...
56keane

people seemed to have forgotten these guys. Their second album was very underrated and forgotten because of its lack of radio pop hits...
57kind of like spitting

really emotional indie pop/emo...
58kiss it goodbye

criminally forgotten metalcore...
59latterman

great melodic pop punk band that broke up and sprouted billions of other acts...
60leatherface

europe's answer to hot water music...
61lemon jelly

just like boards of Canada, nobody else besides me and electronic kids seem to know of these guys...
62lifetime

if it wasn't for this band, there would be no new found glory, set your goals, the wonder years, title fight, transit, four year strong, a day to remember, living with lions, such gold, daggermouth, energy, strike anywhere, the swellers, fireworks, saves the day, ect...

70on the might of princess

forgotten 90's emo/screamo band...
71orange 9mm

why people didn't latch on to this band is beyond me...
72pegboy

these guys should have been more well-known during the 90's punk scene...
73piglet

very awesome math rock band...
74pissed jeans

you like black flag and the jesus lizard??? Well then you'll like these guys...
75q and not u

not just for the letter q, but for the fact that these guys were an amazing dance punk/post-punk band mixing in 90's dischord style emo...
76radio birdmen

garage rock that would have been huge had it come out in the 2000's with all that overseas trash like the vines and the hellacopters...
77the replacements

sure they got enough coverage from the rags out there, but do you actually know a lot of people who jam them???
78scatter the ashes

they made only one album, but it sure did stand out from the rest of the epitaph catalogue when it came out. great post punk/post-hardcore...

a sub pop band that graced the line between grunge and punk..

82slingshot dakota

the debate is whether this band is better than matt & kim or mates of state. Heck, maybe even lemuria...
