09.24.18 | Indigo Jam Unit is spectacular (Japanese jazz), for instance Pirates:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWyDHO-5CXU
DJ Krush is also really good (Japanese hip-hop), for instance his album Jaku:

Demon of the Fall
09.24.18 | Melt-Banana - Cell Scape. Noise rock/grind with a vocalist that sounds like a powerpuff girl. This one is surprisingly accessible & catchy.
Mono - Hymn to the Immortal Wind. Pretty post-rock bobbins with prominent use of strings. Obvious rec but whatever.
Asobi Seksu - Citrus. Fluffy Indie/Shoegaze type stuff.
And presumably you've checked World's End Girlfriend if you like #1? |

09.24.18 | Lovebites - Awakening From The Abyss
they're an all female-Japanese power metal band that I recently discovered, and they're fucking great. |

09.24.18 | Susumu Hirasawa's stuff, basically everything by him but especially Aurora and Kyuusai no Gihou. (Creative, punchy yet very atmospheric electronic).
Shiina Ringo, especially Shouso Strip and Kuri no Hana. (Don't even know what to call it, but it's mostly rock/pop with a lot of different instruments and very fond of switching to genres all over the place all the time in a very tasteful way).
I also second X Japan (which span from speed metal over glam rock to orchestral ballads) and Dir En Grey (a progressive kind of extreme metal). |
