05.10.24 | incredible diversity - and this is outside some of the records that are rightly classics and staples (Surfer Rosa, Goat, etc.). if you have any to add submissions are welcome! |

05.10.24 | how in the fuck am i just learning albini did engineering on the fragile |
Ladron93
05.10.24 | The Fragile? Interesting. That's my fave album of NIN. |
VlacDrac
05.10.24 | Serenade In Red is the best sounding Albini-recorded album ever. |
Winesburgohio
05.10.24 | He was a dark horse! I've had this list idea simmering for a while but I just learned about e.g. Storm and Stress
Vlac while I wouldn't quite lavish that superlative on it it's rly rly good ya! |
gabba
05.10.24 | Albini's work on The Fragile was new to me also. I thought it was produced only by Reznor & co and they invited Bob Ezrin to arrange the sequencing because they couldn't deal with that mammoth. I jammed Low's TWLITF yesterday and it's exquisite. Will need to check many entries here as well, thanks Winesburgohio! |
Demon of the Fall
05.10.24 | Serenade In Red and Ys I knew about. Both all-timer level albums / production jobs in general
a few of these are certainly interesting, wow... had no idea about Low, Bedhead or Mono (none of which are typically what he was known for, same re Ys, obviously) |
Winesburgohio
05.10.24 | yeah, looking at this list the diversity is striking. i really feel like he could have done something special with U.S. Maple... |

05.10.24 | Nina Nastasia - Run To Ruin |

05.10.24 | Italian Platinum surprised me |

05.10.24 | all this noise/indie/math rock stuff, and then 10. incredible. would never guess 10 was engineered by the same guy as 29, and they both sound amazing.
24 is my fave on this list, the production job on that was immediately noticeable on my first listen. never heard guitars sound like that before

05.10.24 | Great list. The Atlantic obituary-article on Steve said "Earlier in his career, he had been more insistent about how a record should sound, and had freely offered his opinions in the studio." Makes me wonder if any of these records might have failed if someone else had engineered them. |

05.10.24 | albini's work on cold visions is tremendous |
Snake.
05.10.24 | dazzling killmen - face of collapse |
ConcubinaryCode
05.10.24 | I feel like there should just be a staff feature with all his stuff for posterity. I like these lists but they're gone after a few days |

05.10.24 | that's a great idea |
Winesburgohio
05.10.24 | @gabba I'm so glad you chose to check out that one in particular, it really fucks me up but in a haunting cathartic way! Albini also did Secret Name by them which balances the delicatesse really well
some exceptional choices on this list, many I haven't heard - I didn't want to go with anything too "obvious" but I only have my own frame of reference to make that assessment. the thing about Albini is he went uncredited on so many albums that it's hard to compile a definitive list. if you go on RYM and look at his Credits page that's just scratching the surface |

05.11.24 | One of my faves is The Forms - Icarus |

05.11.24 | Did he really work on YS? That’s amazing. Not sure if /nº 30 is fr or jest |

05.11.24 | "Did he really work on YS?"
He was the recording engineer, but didn't mix/master it |

05.12.24 | The Fragile alone would make this dude legendary but seeing it all laid out is something else. I wasn't familiar before his passing but he was clearly insanely skilled. RIP. |
Storm In A Teacup
05.13.24 | Bladee? |

05.15.24 | I haven't checked much of the records listed yet but man, thank you for recommending Purplene. Such a gem of an album. |
