Top 15 Protest The Hero Songs

I forgot just how much I loved this band as of recently and seeing them play Fortress made me obsess over them like it was 2011 all over again.
15Protest the Hero
Volition

Animal Bones - This song is definitely really great on its own and it brings back some of the more explicitly metalcore type sound that has seemed to dwindle a bit on newer works...but let me tell you guys something. Hearing that Sequoia Throne callback for the first time had me shaking for a good month or two. I don't think a first listen of any song has ever been more satisfying for me.
14Protest the Hero
Fortress

Palms Read - FOR A MILLION YEARS, RAISE YOUR GLAAAAASSS and that whole part with the sick bass feature in the middle is mindblowing.
13Protest the Hero
Scurrilous

C'est La Vie - I love the way this song progresses. The ending is huge. For a while this was the only song on Scurrilous I listened to so it always feels very nostalgic and whatnot..
12Protest The Hero
Scurrilous

Tapestry - probably the heaviest sounding song on Scurrilous with its only rival being Dunsel. This one is pretty intense
11Protest the Hero
Fortress

The Dissentience - The first time I really connected with this song was on a car ride to the beach. I was like half asleep with my headphones on and I just remember that "Somebody, somebody's little girl dreams of the things she read..." part and it was so touching and ever since then it's been a favorite of mine.
10Protest the Hero
Scurrilous

Hair-Trigger - This song is tasty as hell for its entire runtime. My friend describes it as possibly the best song about cigarettes ever and yeah, let's go with that. That whole ending breakdown is just wheeewwww this band is so good.
9Protest the Hero
Volition

Mist - Definitely one of their most anthem like songs. Hell, Newfoundland should just make it theirs. I also love those strings that start the outro.
8Protest the Hero
Kezia

Blindfolds Aside - The song that made me love this band to death. From its punk rooted beginning all the way to that beautiful break towards the end, this is easily one of their best songs.
7Protest The Hero
Scurrilous

Moonlight - Don't discount a song with the line "Take a piss for every mile" because this is one of the biggest highlights of Scurrilous. One of the least intense songs they have but it still manages to captivate me all the way to one of the most satisfying conclusions of any song that I have ever heard.
6Protest the Hero
Kezia

Turn Soonest To The Sea - This was their longest one for a while and it made such good use of it's time. Blindfolds to the end of Kezia is one of my favorite sections of an album and this song is one of the main reasons for that.
5Protest the Hero
Kezia

The Divine Suicide of K. - What an epic track to accompany the death of Kezia. The guest vocals are gorgeous. And that ending ughhh, no wonder this was my favorite song by them for the longest time.
4Protest the Hero
Volition

Clarity - I remember first hearing this and wondering what happened to this band...but I still really liked it, I just wasn't ready for a more chorus oriented song that had none of the trademark PTH insanity that I have come to love. Clarity doesn't need any of that. It's this band proving that they can just write a damn good song regardless of what they are attempting. I never would have thought this song would end up in my top 5 when it came out but I'm really happy it did.
3Protest the Hero
Fortress

Sequoia Throne - DID YOU COME HERE TO KILL OR DID YOU COME HERE TO DIE? Let's talk about how monumental this song was for me, being the first full PTH song I had ever heard. I didn't know music could sound like this. I had heard nothing even close to this technical beforehand. My metal love was restricted to mainly Metallica and Maiden at the time so this really came out of nowhere to me. Top it off with a godly vocalist like Rody and there was no going back. This right here is the reason why I love technical music/music that pushes boundaries. Sequoia Throne is insane and it will always be a favorite of mine.
2Protest the Hero
Scurrilous

Sex Tapes - Took me a while to really appreciate this song but wow, they couldn't have picked a better closer. I really couldn't tell you why most of this is so great. I think the delivery feels a bit more fun/playful and that just makes this whole thing an absolute delight. The whole outro jam is one of my favorite outros in music.
1Protest the Hero
Volition

Skies - Skies is the epic that this band may have been working for for the longest time. And like a lot of Volition, this is more of a chorus oriented song at it's base and that chorus is one of the damn best out there. There isn't one thing out of place with this masterpiece. Skies has so much going for it and the entire listen is just oh so compelling. The bridge alone has like 5 different parts that could be considered the best in the song. This is the best Protest the Hero song and I can't wait for whatever closer they think will be able to top it.
