Slipknot Ranked

I remember really hating this band back in day for no good reason going back has been fun if not underwhelming at many times.
1Slipknot
Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses

I love a 3rd album that takes all the proven lessons learned of a second album and refines it into an even better record. Song ideas, production, and performance are all great and even the weaker tracks succeed in spite of their poor foundations. Pretty hard to see band top this, especially with the band lineups rocky status and even thoughts towards this album in the years following it's release.
2Slipknot
We Are Not Your Kind

Biggest surprise of their career after a back half of discog that leaves a lot to be desired. Relatively to the point songwriting leads to a great album that doesn't stumble with it's experimentation, unlike the albums preceding and following it.
3Slipknot
Iowa

The rage-out aspect of this bands lyrics are so stupid but this album is so hopelessly bought in that it doesn't matter. The albums oozes energy and has many great tracks, showing the band knew how to tone down the questionable choices from debut.

Slipknot

Forgot to address it earlier but yes we know Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat exists but it might as well not, which means this might as well be debut. Of course the slight experience under some of the members belts probably helped make a good debut but band still had some stumbling blocks fully meshing the sound of 9 members.
5Slipknot
.5: The Gray Chapter

A slight course correction from All Hope is Gone, but still gets in its own way a bit much. Basically, the tracks that are good really recall the best band has done, but the stinkers are just as bad as the bands worst.
6Slipknot
All Hope Is Gone

I saw it mentioned that Paul Gray had a tirade about not being mall metal following Vol. 3 which is funny considering they go and release their most mall metal release afterward. Band obviously had no idea or faith in their vision and it shows with an album that only gets it right a few times; a sordid, confused ordeal.
7Slipknot
The End, So Far

Lol this is pretty stinky idgaf if it is a "finish a contract album". Kinda starts in a whiplash manner from bad to good, but then settles for mediocrity for majority of album. Not much to miss if skipping this one imo.
