Finding Dory

I don't know if anyone else has made a list on this yet, but I've seen the movie twice now, and I think I can safely say that not only has it surpassed The Incredibles as my favorite Pixar movie, but it's also climbed its way into my top 10 movies ever. Here's why.
1Fire! Orchestra
Enter!

It takes that Pixar realism to a whole other level. I've never felt more like I was actually part of the setting, doing what the characters are doing, than in this movie. I'm aware that technically their animation gets more advanced with every movie, but the detail in this one is just immaculate. I think the movie to top it would have to be in a completely different setting.
2The Goon Sax
Up To Anything

It's not exactly "lighthearted" anymore. It's an unflinching look at the essence of madness. Yes, I know Dory isn't actually "insane," but her illness is used to represent the fact that her brain works differently than others. And by the end of the movie, you're shown how these differences offer the rest of us different perspectives, and can actually help us rather than hinder us. FINALLY, Nemo wonders, "what would Dory do?" There's also some really harrowing moments that come from this. Like, real tear-jerkers. When Dory finds herself alone again and has to completely redefine her surroundings... I don't think that's ever happened in a Pixar movie before.
3Clever
Kewdi Udi

It takes the concept of Finding Nemo and puts a hilarious spin on it that only makes sense, considering its protagonist. Whereas Finding Nemo is at its core kind of just a long road-trip movie (well, back and forth from that to the fish tank), Finding Dory makes a whole rollicking adventure out of basically going in circles from the Marine Life Institute back into the bay right in front of it. That's the setting, and quite honestly, I find it so much more satisfying than Nemo.
4Charlie Hilton
Palana

It's fucking hilarious! Hank the cranky octopus, Destiny, the nearsighted whale shark, and Bailey, the beluga having trouble with his echolocation are all perfectly written characters that further the movie's message even more. It's like, no matter who's talking, the movie always has you thinking "wow, what's it like for that animal to be in that environment right now?"
5Hawk House
A Handshake to the Brain

It's about finding Dory, yes, but the reason we have Dory to begin with is because we have brains. We may not understand exactly how the brain formed or exactly how thoughts are made, but the people at Pixar clearly understand how what we know of in our brain works. This is evident in Dory's relationship with her parents. They're not bad parents at all, but you can see how confused Dory gets by each one telling her different things. Also, what's a kid with short-term memory loss supposed to do? "What are you doing, Dory?" "Talking to my pipe pal, Destiny!" The writing is magnificent, and if you have a soul, you should find the story gut-wrenching. Go see it. I really believe it's Pixar's masterpiece at this point.
