05.26.12 | You have a lot of time on your hands. |
Rail
05.26.12 | Awesome list, though I've only heard 9 of them. Bookmarked.
Which of these are most like I Hate Myself? |
bakkermaarten007
05.26.12 | @Crimson Floyd: no, this is the result of another 4 hours of procrastination.
@Rail: I Hate Myself just made this list, because I think they are just enough indie emo but most people would agree to call them screamo. But off this list, 54 will you give a similar despair. |
PeterKlaven
05.26.12 | Deer Leap/The World... - split |
bakkermaarten007
05.26.12 | I didn't want to add splits, otherwise this list would be full of them. |
Eko
05.26.12 | wow, monster list. are these ranked? |

05.26.12 | @Maarten: Thanks man, I'll check it out. The cover doesn't make me feel much despair, but I'm sure it's ironic. |
Eko
05.26.12 | so if I've got 1, 10, 20, 21 53, 55, 61, 76, 77, 86, and 93 can you rec me like 5 of these |

05.26.12 | Been listening to a lot of this type lately. I have almost 20 of these, will definitely be looking
into a lot more here. Nice job. |
bakkermaarten007
05.26.12 | @Eko: 2,19, 27, 35, 89 and maybe 100. |
TheFonz123
05.26.12 | This should get featured. |
Adabelle
05.26.12 | The ones I've heard (SDRE, I Hate Myself, American Football, Braid, Knapsack, Moneen, Everyone Asked About You, Cap'n Jazz) are fantastic, should really look into a few of the ones I've haven't heard |
F0RBES
05.26.12 | I actually have quite a few of these. 1, 5, 10, 17, 19, 20, 21, 32, 34, 35, 42, 43, 50, 53, 55, 61, 65, 67, 70, 75, 76, 78, 81, 86, 88, and 89. 19, 32, 43, 53, and 88 are beyond awesome. |

Storm In A Teacup
05.27.12 | Which one of these is the best and most gritty and most epic? |
minty901
05.27.12 | i only have 10, 19, 22, 26, 27, 42, 43, 53, 55, 77, 86, 88, 89 and 98. need to get some more of these. good list. glad to see static prevails on there; that often gets forgotten. also, im totally digging empire empire right now. |
minty901
05.27.12 | @Storm. my favourite best/gritty/epic indie emo is "endserenading" by mineral, but thats not on this list. i think it's so much better than "the power of failing". |
bakkermaarten007
05.27.12 | Oh no, The Power Of Failing is much better, much more raw than Endserenading. But ofcourse tastes differ. |
minty901
05.27.12 | yeah i know im in the minority with that one. endserenading is a lot more emotional to me... seems to go all out on emotion, whereas power of failing has a bit of rocky/catchiness to it as well. |
Thane
05.27.12 | awesome list, man. check these two:
audio recording club - in the end, we are all light

05.27.12 | Thanks bakker |
Eko
05.27.12 | I've never been able to get into Power of Failing much, I'll try EndSerenading sometime |
bakkermaarten007
05.27.12 | Eko: I can concur, it's been in my library for over 6 months before I decided to listen again. Then it
sticked with me somehow, rated it 5. You know what they say about the albums that grow on you right?
=) |
Eko
05.27.12 | yeah it is pretty dense, there's just a lot of screeching guitars and stuff going on, it's a lot to take in. |
minty901
05.27.12 | endserenading is the opposite of that. very stripped back and melodic. |
bakkermaarten007
05.27.12 | Yeah, better start with enserenading then to ease you in. |
Aids
05.27.12 | lost of good stuff here, some "not so obvious" picks as well. nice. |

05.27.12 | Awesome list! Reminds me that Deep Elm just gave away some free D/Ls |

I know of the second link as well, sadly.... |
jlech
05.27.12 | So you also scour the interwebs for more emo... I'm looking for dual vox emo if you know any |
bakkermaarten007
05.27.12 | Not backing vocals right? I can only think of 57 for the moment. |
Iamthe Nightstars
05.28.12 | Great list man |

05.28.12 | amazing list, bookmarked |
DurzoBlint
05.28.12 | Sweet list. A few on here that need more recognition... especially 67. |
EyesWideShut
05.28.12 | huh.. this looks p good. props for takin the time duder. |
bakkermaarten007
05.28.12 | @Durzo Yes, and 31 which you rated....2,5??? =P
Have you really listened to it man? I would get it if you don't like emo records but seeing as you do
how on earth can you think that's average?
I mean, I've heard tons of acts in the genre and after numerous listens that felt uninspired the last
6 months I discovered this and it felt like a breath of fresh air. |
bakkermaarten007
05.28.12 | @Eyeswideshut: thanks. |
DurzoBlint
05.28.12 | Didn't like the vocalist at all. I only listened to it once entirely though, then odd tracks again a
few times. I can't stand the vocalist though to listen to it again. With ashen that is.... |
bakkermaarten007
05.28.12 | Okay, too bad you rated it after only hearing it once though. |
DurzoBlint
05.28.12 | Well my ratings are just for personal reference really, in case I lose my music as I dont have it backed up ^_^ |
bakkermaarten007
05.28.12 | Yeah, I saw that a moment ago. You've rated 15 records or something in the last two days lol =D |
DurzoBlint
05.28.12 | yeah haha listen to them once or twice, then rate ^_^ occasionally I will change them if I feel the
need. Pretty much spent the last 4 days listening to new albums.. about 10 a day lol. Most stuff I
actually listen to i dont even rate. |
TheDjehuty
05.29.12 | So glad to see Joie De Vivre and Brave Bird on this list. |
minty901
05.30.12 | just gotta reiterate how awesome 55 (empire! empire!) is. easily the best album i've heard of the genre. which of the ones on this list are similar? with softly-sung, in-tune vocals vocals mixed in with the more typical, raw singing/yelping. |
ShitsofRain
05.30.12 | --->DIAMOND DANCER IN THE LIST |
ShitsofRain
05.30.12 | you're awesome
|
minty901
05.30.12 | just checked out diamond dancer. really good. although im not so much a fan of deeper singing. usually i like high, girly singing. if you like diamond dancer you should totally check out gates' new ep "you are all you have left to fear". its free on their website and has that awesome blend of post-rock/indie/emo. www.gatesnj.com i think |
bakkermaarten007
05.30.12 | "just gotta reiterate how awesome 55 (empire! empire!) is. easily the best album i've heard of the genre. which of the ones on this list are similar? with softly-sung, in-tune vocals vocals mixed in with the more typical, raw singing/yelping."
Pretty vague description since that's a common singing style in the genre. But if you like the style of his voice, there's really nothing like it. |
minty901
05.30.12 | well a lot of emo music uses a lot of off-key singing and raw/screaming vocals. not a lot of what ive heard does particularly well with the softer sections like empire does. |
bakkermaarten007
05.30.12 | No, nothing comes up. There's probably a few bands on this list that would suit your desire, but I
would have to relisten to them to notice it. |
minty901
07.29.12 | just came back to this list. what a fucking good list. |
bakkermaarten007

10.01.14 | Seeing 49 on a list is so heart-warming.
Needs more love. |
