Yeah the wings are without their starting goaltender going up against one of the best starting

i say wings in 7 but honestly the preds scare me. |
MalleusMaleficarum

04.10.12 | "A lot of people are saying Ottawa is gonna upset the Rangers"
Being an Ottawa fan I can see it as a greater possibility than beating the Bruins. I'm alot more happy that we're playing the Rangers since we dominated them during the season/since the lockout. That being said playoffs are a whole other animal but we have a good shot. |

not heeding your call. The only thing with last year is that Boston was the HEAVY favourite to come out of the east, they were just the big mean team. This year there isn't REALLY a powerhouse coming out of the east, there are super strong teams but no beasts. So if Vancouver can make a repeat trip to the finals I think they'll have a better chance |
Aids
04.10.12 | "And yeah Luongo will make or break your post season."
I don't think so, we're going to rely more on a double-goaltender approach this year (Schneider is agruably the best back-up in the league). him being amazing would be a huge boost though. just please let us not have to play in Chicago.
"That's what I thought but Scoot said he was gonna be playing"

He's been great so far this year. They are the underdog with the best chances. The lack of playoff experience is just going to make them hungry and even more dangerous.

KjSwantko
04.11.12 | @Aso, I think they're more dangerous than people think, but they've still got no shot at winning besides the whole team getting hot at the same time.
positives:
-their PP is good (7th in the league).....but NJD is the #1 ranked PK in the league
-they're decent defensively (12th in the league)
-the fact they're huge underdogs could be benefit them.
negatives:
-terrible offense (ranked 27th in the league)
-their PK is terrible (ranked 25th in the league)
-they're allowed more goals than they've scored (197 for, 216 against)
-just average goaltending in Theodore (.917 S%, 2.46 GAA)
...hate to tell ya man but NJD should crush them pretty easy.....but we all love a good upset. |
KSK1
04.11.12 | If Theodore turns on his game it could be a good series. They need to shut down Kovulchuk, Parise and Clarkson otherwise the three of them will be dancing in on a goaltender with almost a 2.5 GAA which would be a nightmare for Florida. It won't be easy for them in the least bit. I say NJ in 5. |
AsoTamaki
04.11.12 | Yeah, man. Those guys need to be shut down for sure. The Panthers' defense is very strong though. If they limit the scoring from those three, anything can happen. And his stats might not look too impressive, but this has been Theodore's best year in a long time. He mainly just needs to remain consistent and play his best. I'm sure he'll be motivated since this could be one of his last runs.
Their biggest issue is the offensive production. That's why I say they would have no shot against Pittsburgh. That team will score a ton of goals regardless of how good your goalie is playing and the Panthers simply wouldn't be able to score enough to keep up.
I think you'll be surprised, guys. |
KjSwantko
04.11.12 | yeah Pittsburgh is a relentless scoring machine, but they could face the same fate as Washington did a couple years ago (devastating offense, mediocre defense) if a few of their big guns get in a slump. Great defense wins championships. PIT is ranked 17th in D, so that could prove to be detrimental to them. |

IndolentIdealist
04.12.12 | Florida won't roll over for the Devils. That's not the kind of team they are. They've got a lot of experienced guys, and a lot of hungry young guys (even some older ones like Weiss) seeing the playoffs for the first time. Even if the Devils win 5, they will be five hard-fought games. Obviously, the Panthers don't have a greatly skilled team. They've mainly relied on their team to grind out games to win, so I think the games will all be close.

04.14.12 | "I hate the Pens but I didn't think they'd be stoppable with Crosby back in their already incredible lineup. "
Nope. Same thing I've said a bunch of times in various Lists, It's almost impossible to score your way to championship. PIT's defense is below average for the playoff teams. |
DominionMM1
04.14.12 | I know their defense sucks, but 4 in a row in the 3rd period? |
MalleusMaleficarum
04.14.12 | blowing two leads at home in the playoffs = fail
they dont deserve to go to the next round |
KSK1
04.14.12 | I mean Letang and Orpik are both really good defensemen but I guess that's not enough for them. And god knows Fleury won't be saving the day for them. Letang has been off lately but he needs to sack up now if they have any hope of winning this. |
Spec
04.14.12 | Some good games so far. |
KjSwantko
04.14.12 | Yeah I wonder why Fleury sucks so bad right now |
KSK1
04.14.12 | He's pulling a Luongo. |
Aids
04.14.12 | so yeah just checked some stats from the van/LA games
we had 48 (ish) shots on net, 2 goals, they had 4 goals with 28 (ish - I forget the actual numbers) shots. holy shit we are getting out goaltended. WHO SAW THAT ONE COMING? I hope/think they will start Schneider in Game 3. |
Satellite
04.14.12 | they've got to go with schneider, if only just to shake things up.
most of the goals weren't luongo's fault at all, though. the guys in front of him were atrocious defensively. |
KSK1
04.14.12 | Yeah Vancouver played a good game minus the Lapierre dives and all the pussy shit. That was one of the most fast paced games I've seen in a long time and it was a lot of fun to watch. |
Aids
04.14.12 | well immediately following the playoffs last year, the team (GM and coaching staff) said they were going to take a page from the Hurricane's book (when they won by using Gerber and Ward instead of relying on one) for next the year's playoffs. I was thinking they might have even started him for game 2. I'm really happy I'm away from home right now because if they lose in the first round holy shit, you think last year's riot was bad? I still have faith, but we absolutely must win game 3 and probably game 4 too to even have a chance. |
DominionMM1
04.14.12 | Gerber was pulled during the opening series in '06. Ward started the rest of the way. |
Satellite
04.14.12 | yeah, rarely does a team make it far by using a goalie tandem. |
Spec
04.14.12 | Gerber had the flu though. |
Aids
04.14.12 | but even more rarely does a team make it far by relying 100% on Luongo. I mean unlike 99% of the Vancouver faithful, I love him and support him 100%. But nigga has some serious mental issues, he needs time off in the playoffs to be decent. |
Spec
04.14.12 | Mental issues? |

04.14.12 | "holy shit we are getting out goaltended. WHO SAW THAT ONE COMING? I hope/think they will start Schneider in Game 3."
Jonathan Quick is a badass goalie. I would've bet money on him over Luongo or Schneider. |
DominionMM1
04.14.12 | The Canucks need to pick 1 guy, and stick with him. |
Spec
04.14.12 | Schneider is better yeah. |
lucazade22
04.14.12 | GO DUCKS!!!! Oh wait... :( |
DominionMM1
04.14.12 | Well the Canucks are paying Luongo $6.7M for the next 5 years or so, which means he's gonna be with them (unless they can trade him) for awhile. Do they want to burn that bridge now? |
KSK1
04.14.12 | "The Canucks need to pick 1 guy, and stick with him."
Not necessarily. A lot of teams use two goal tenders. Look at st Louis and Boston before rask got hurt. I don't really see Vancouver being that kind of team but it can work.

DominionMM1
04.14.12 | It seems to work in the regular season. Just doesn't seem to happen much in the postseason. |
KjSwantko
04.14.12 | there's a rumor of Luongo being traded for Levacalier after the season. A lot of analysts were discussing it a while back and there seemed to be truth behind it. |

04.14.12 | yes! fuck boston |
