Underrated/Unknown rock/metal/core volume 1

love it, live it, believe it
1Wig
Wireland

Idk how to describe these guys, Allmusic has them tagged as "industrial" (wtf) and ppl have described them as sounding like shellac, but this is basically good-ass detroit alternative/vaguely psych rock. a few members went on to form West Indian Girl (get it?) with trent reznor's future wife. "california poppy" rips
2Pist.on
Number One

angry 90s alt-metal produced by Josh SIlver from Type O, check out "Parole" and "afraid of life"
3XC-NN
XC-NN

alt-rock with electronic and goth elements, formerly known as CNN until they got a cease-and-desist letter from a certain major news agency. Tim Bricheno of sisters of mercy/ all about eve plays guitar. They also formed tin star, a electronic side project. check "Monarch" and "Basta"
4God Lives Underwater
Empty

Lumped in with the early 90s industrial rock boom, although their style leaned more towards electronic grunge with huuge depeche mode influences. Jeff turzo went on to produce records by Hellogoodbye and FTSK. Check out "All wrong" and the title track
5At The Throne of Judgment
The Arcanum Order

Nothing much to see here, just ripping Black Dahlia Murder-influenced deathcore, check "Disincarnate by design" and "Martyrdom: Ruin of gaia"
6Dance Club Massacre
Circle of Death

Blackened grindy deathcore with Attila-esque partycore lyrics, very much of it's time, but still slaps. check "Hoosh Hoosh"
7Ministry
Dark Side of the Spoon

now Ministry's not exactly "unknown" or whatever, but this album deserves more love
8Stahlhammer
Feind Hört Mit

excellent austrian NDH band, this album cribs a bit more death metal influence than the rest of their stuff. peep "Am liebsten von hinten" and their cover of "Der mann mit dem koks"
9Jamie's Elsewhere
They Said a Storm Was Coming

Trancecore perfection. check "Giants among common men"
10Dropping Daylight
Brace Yourself

sick-ass piano-y emo for ur ass, just check it brah
11Manes
How the World Came To An End

Former black metal band goes trip hop and the results are pretty sick, great rainy day music.
12Econoline Crush
The Devil You Know

If there was any justice in the world, these dudes would have been at least as popular as Filter and Gravity kills
13At All Cost
It's Time To Decide

just the right mix of before and ahead of their time, these guys did the whole autotuned metalcore thing 3 years before attack attack! and mixed it with gothenburg darkest hour-style riffs and HORSE-style synth freakouts. Very advanced shit.
14Idiot Pilot
Strange We Should Meet Here

It's like if Radiohead was good and had 'core style screaming, they just put out a new record and it's v fresh.
15Fudge Tunnel
In A Word

Noisy sludge metal, like a more grungy Big Black with live drums. Alex newport went on to produce for the mars volta and others.
16Misery Loves Co.
Misery Loves Co,

V advanced industrial metal, started out as a more-depressed Ministry with death growls and gradually evolved towards a more deftones vibe.
