01.11.11 I Like Music01.08.11 Late Night Albums

Late Night Albums

A list of albums I like listening to when I can't fall asleep or that keep rme company when I have rrrrto stay up late. What about you guys? What albums do you enjoy listening to especially when rit's dark out and all you want to do is relax for a while?
1Bohren & Der Club Of Gore
Black Earth

Dark and jazzy. This can get a bit boring if you're paying too much attention
but it's perfect when you're just trying to chill after a rough day.
2Grant Green
Idle Moments

The title track is just perfect if you enjoy laid back jazz with good soloing.

Often overlooked but still one of Radiohead's best albums. For me this might
even be their best because it combines the best of OK Computer and Kid A,
both of which are among my favorite albums of all time. Still haven't given
enough listens to Hail to the Thief to come to a final conclusion though.
4 Anouar Brahem
Le pas du chat noir

Dark, beautiful jazz. I've never heard the oud played like this before. Actually
it's pretty rare to hear the oud played at all.
5The National

The reason I enjoy listening to this late at night is because I enjoy listening to
this pretty much whenever. High Violet and Alligator are great as well.
6Timber Timbre
Timber Timbre

According to this site's description of them, Timber Timbre 'walks a precious
line between harrowing blues and desperate death country'. I don't think I
have anything to add to that. Great album.

I love Beth Gibbons.
8 Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto

One of those jazz albums that everyone should hear. A true classic. Needz
moar breakdownz tho.
9 Enrico Pieranunzi
Les Amants

Chamber jazz. Pieranunzi manages to remain extremely tasteful which can be
hard for a pianist playing with a string quartet.

A bit of a grower but I do enjoy this.
