In the past two or three years it seems as if good, carefully crafted
extreme metal is starting to see a quiet but steady resurgence. Here are
some great albums from recent years that give one hope for the genre's
future.
One of the most consistently creative acts in extreme metal. 'Engram' is sort of the
beginning of this "non-trend" I'm trying to capitalize on here: an original, powerful
extreme metal album that manages to be compelling and interesting without
straying too far from the genre's tenets.
