Foos Ranked

Been so obsessed with Foo lately. Had to make this list.

One By One

"All my Life I've been searching for somethin, somethin never comes, never leads to nothin..." What a kickass opener. Too bad the rest is good not great. The second song Low is pretty sick. I wonder who thought of putting the odd time signature at the beginning of Times Like These (I bet Taylor because he loves RUSH)

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

I used to think "The Pretender" was meh (some idiot told me its a rip off of Stairway) but now I think it's one of their best songs and the chorus is infectious. Nice harmonies by Taylor. "Let it Die" is another amazing song that features great dynamics and nice lyrics. "Long Road to Ruin" is cool too.
5Foo Fighters
In Your Honor

I hate the song Best of You but this album has a lot of gems like No Way Back, D.O.A., Hell. Plus there are some nice acoustic tracks. They didn't need to make it a double album though.

There Is Nothing left to Lose

Recorded as a three-piece in a basement in Virginia. Dave recorded all the vocals on a couch. This is where Dave started to become more radio-friendly with his songs. No songs about Weenie Beenies here. The opener, Stacked Actors, is my personal favorite.
3Foo Fighters
The Colour and the Shape

Great album. Sad what happened to William Goldsmith, the drummer. Contains some of the band's best material like Everlong, My Poor Brain, Enough Space, My Hero.

Foo Fighters

Dave did this all himself and it may have been recorded analog but I'm not sure. This is pretty raw and sometimes there are little speed ups and slow downs but that's what gives it its charm. I don't think he used a click track while recording.

Wasting Light

Wasting Light is like a combination of each Foo album but without any filler. Dave is back to writing great rock songs as opposed to just writing hits that get overplayed on the radio. The "analog" method was a great idea and the result is a raw, heartfelt, kickass rock n roll album with two amazing "ballads" at the end. Plus its like return of the riffs.
